Happy Tuesday, friends! In the midst of my favorite month, which is also my birthday month, I continue to pray for all of those who have been impacted from Hurricane Helene. As we enjoy autumn, let’s not forget our fellow Americans who are suffering. And, by all indications, our neighbors in Florida are again facing a major hurricane, as Milton will likely make landfall Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.
“For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.””
Galatians 5:14 (ESV)
I am excited to join sixteen table stylists for a Halloween Tablescape Blog Hop hosted by my friend, Rita from Panoply. You will find all of the links for fun and creative tables at the bottom of this post.
Long-time readers know that I live out in the country with a view of the Appalachian Foothills. I was a city girl when I married my Renaissance Man, but after six years of marriage we built our hillside home in the country. I never dreamed that I would love country living, but I can’t imagine living anywhere else. Wildlife is plentiful, including deer, turkeys, raccoons, foxes, skunks, opossums, squirrels, rabbits, coyotes…and unfortunately armadillos that moved to NE Alabama a few years ago. Bird sightings include bald eagles, owls, crows, vultures, hawks, woodpeckers, doves, geese, ducks, herons, pelicans, and many others. Of course a variety of songbirds and hummingbirds visit according to the season. These thoughts inspired a different kind of Halloween table. I have never been a fan of Halloween, but I have enjoyed making child-friendly tables for my three grandchildren. When I discovered the Susan Winget ‘Pine Forest’ salad plates at Hobby Lobby, my inspiration table was complete. Our picnic table sits at the wood’s edge full of pine trees!
Goldenrods grow wild all around our home place and look very autumnal in the pumpkin-colored bottles. You can catch a glimpse of our Appalachian Foothills from this view of the table!
RM stacked three hay bales in front of the split rail fence. If you look closely you can spot a trio of crows eyeing the table and one even flew in to perch atop the cupcake stand!
The yummy popcorn is candy corn flavored with a coating of white chocolate. Yikes, I keep helping myself to a handful!
I let the grands choose their plate for our party that we will have before Halloween. These plates are so sweet, Mamas with their babies! EM chose the deer, EK chose the fox, WL chose the raccoon, and I was left with the wise old owl!
I pulled out a favorite tablecloth with fall colors and special napkins that have a memory attached. Our son and daughter-in-love had a beautiful October wedding that was held in an apple orchard. They celebrated their twelfth anniversary yesterday. The napkins were part of the table settings for the reception held in a lovely barn venue!
Delicious flavored shortbread cookies were enjoyed by the grands after I photographed the table.
Wyatt was fascinated by the crows and asked if he could touch one!
The children love apples, so there is a healthy treat on the table! From this side of the table, there is a view of the Sunshine Cottage, where my granddaughters and I enjoy spending time together.
Pumpkin-colored dinner plates were a great find at Tuesday Morning several years ago. I still miss their store, do you?
The table is mainly for our grandchildren, but can certainly be enjoyed by adults!
“There is a child in every one of us who is still a trick-or-treater looking for a brightly lit front porch.”
~Robert Brault
I have many fond childhood memories of growing up in our neighborhood. All of the parents were close to the same age and there were a total of nineteen kids that were near enough in age to play together. The house across the street had a large vacant lot and it was where we gathered. The games of summer included Mother May I, Hide-and-Seek, 1, 2, 3 Red Light, and baseball to name just a few…
…Halloween was always a special neighborhood event. We never had expensive costumes, but we all had fun masks. The parents made sure we had wonderful home-made treats such as caramel popcorn and candied apples. Of course, there were the normal store-bought treats, but I alway preferred the candied apples. It was a carefree childhood in the 50’s and 60’s. Oops, did I just give away my age?? Do you share similar memories?
Later this month we will have our annual pumpkin carving, grilling of hot dogs, and roasting marshmallows around the fire pit. It is a fun time with our son, daughter-in-love and three grandchildren.
RM sowed rye grass the day before our only significant rain in several months. It came up in 3 or 4 days and we’ve been amazed at how it has grown and how green it is. I was not expecting to have such a pleasant color addition around the table setting!

Pam, Your tablesetting is beautiful for fall or Halloween with your grands! I love the woodland setting with haybales and pumpkins, lush green rye grass in the background, Susan Winget ‘Pine Forest’ plates and beautiful April Cornell tablecloth. Anyone would be delighted to sit at your table with the scenery and tranquil views. Love the shot of the crow with the bokeh in the background! The annual pumpkin carving with your grands, including hot dogs, and roasting marshmallows around the fire pit sounds like a wonderful time that your grands will look back on for years to come. As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you. Happy Tuesday! 🧹🎃👻🕸️💀🧡
Nancy says
Well, Wise Owl, those plates are darling! The pumpkin bottles for vases are gorgeous! The entire setting is perfect for Fall or Halloween. Your grands have got to be so excited to be able to sit at this table because I know I would be! The picture of the crow with the bokeh is outstanding.
This may be one of my favorite tables of yours. It is elegant, simple, and fun!
Oh, I also love hearing about your family memories and reading how you all add to them each year. Family love!
Thank you for the inspiration!

I don’t know how I commented under Mary’s comment??? I think I may need another cup of coffee.

I understand, no problem 🙏🏻
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Nancy. When I saw the plates, I knew the grands would love them. Memories become more
precious as I grow older 🍂🧡🍂
Patti @ Pandora's Box says
What a warm and welcoming table – the plates are so cute and perfect for your “land in the wild”! You certainly see a lot of animals and birds in your neck of the woods! The colors on our table are so pretty and I wish I could have a handful of that popcorn! I am sure the grandchildren enjoyed this and look forward to your next gathering!

I’m not sure, but it seems like I remember reading somewhere that Goldenrod used to be the state flower of Alabama. It’s all over the place here. I guess when they figured out it caused great allergies they changed to the softer Camellia. – I still love the Goldenrod! — And your woodland plates!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Leslie Anne! You are correct, the goldenrod was our original state flower and it is a native. The camellia is gorgeous and I love the blooms, but it is not native to Alabama. Oh well, not a big deal! Happy autumn days!
Sarah Anderson says
Pam, if I had wings, I’d fly in and join those crows at this darling table. I would sit in sheer awe of that wonderful view, taking in all the beauty of nature that surrounds you. You and Butch made a great decision all those years ago. I’d have a difficult time choosing my plate among these darling mamma and baby pairs, but if you’ll share, I’d take the wise owl with her owlet. Always a pleasure to hop with you, Pam. Enjoy this beautiful setting with the grands. Happy Halloween!
Kris @ Junk Chic Cottage says
Really cute Pam. Your grands will love this. The plates are so cute. Happy New Week. Hugs. Kris

Oh Pam, I always enjoy sitting at the table with you and this is no exception! Every detail is so sweet and thoughtful. Those plates are precious. I miss Tuesday Morning too. I spotted one recently and wanted to stop in but I didn’t get too. I wondered if it would be like I remembered though!! Thank you for setting such a lovely table to celebrate at!!

Wow! What stunning table! Those adorable dishes made me swoon! Best wishes, dear friend.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I am so glad you like it, Maristella!

So pretty Pam, and you did a great job of making it a subtle Halloween themed table with the crows, treats and pumpkins. The green grass really makes the orange and brown on your table pop! The colored bottles of goldenrod are beautiful!! The SW Pine Forest salad plates are so sweet, and how fun you let your grands chose one to use for your Halloween party. My daughter and son in law got married in October too, {on the beach!} and just celebrated their 14th anniversary! I love your October tradition of pumpkin carving, hot dogs and s’mores with your grands, you are making wonderful memories!
Kari Rogers-Miller says
Pam your woodland table is so sweet… your grands will love the final food-stuffs. I. also think it is appropriate you are the wise ole’ owl. LOL Love the AC tablecloth and all the amber accents. I am right with you in the way you celebrated Halloween in your childhood…and yes that dates me too. but those were wonderful times as we stayed out way past time and gathered under the street lights. Of course that was way before the days of “mean and cruel” people putting all sorts of bad things in the treats they handed out. Neighbors and friends made popcorn balls, fudge, candied apples, brownies, bags of popcorn and homemade caramels….and some even served us steaming hot chocolate in styrofoam cups on those years it was cold. What fun we had.
I miss Tuesday morning and Pier one…times are changin’!
My son and daughter-in-love got married in October too… I wish you a wonderful birthday month and I know your grands will make it extra special. It is wonderful to see these events through the eyes of the little ones., isn’t it? Hugs and stay safe.

Happy birthday month, Pam! (I didn’t realize we had that in common!) Your table is absolutely gorgeous–the perfect balance of elegance and whimsy! Pinned! Blessings, Cecilia @ My Thrift Store Addiction

Pam, this is such a beautiful and fun Halloween table. The last photo with the lush green grass is gorgeous! The sweet animal plates are adorable, and the addition of crows is a perfect Halloween touch. The treats look yummy, and I know I would have to help myself to that candy corn flavored popcorn. That combines two things that I love. Hot dogs, roasted marshmallows, and carving pumpkins sounds like so much fun. Happy October, sweet friend!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Shannon. Wishing you a beautiful autumn weekend!

Your woodlands theme is so cute for your Halloween at Wood’s Edge tablescape. I love the pretty orange bottles, and your plates with the woodland creatures on them are so festive and cute! Did you know that the goldenrod was Alabama’s State flower at one time? I like them, and I use them in arrangements all the time. Happy Halloween!
Lynne says
What a lovely setting for your gracious woodland table where Halloween can be enjoyed with all the forest friends looking on and enjoying the scene. the autumn table is perfect for relaxing and appreciating nthe natural world. Your view of these very old mountains is wonderful. The plates are a favorite of mine and the animal depictions are delightful. Like you, I have many fond memories of past Halloweens with my family growing up and my own children. It was always a special holiday. Hope you have a wonderful Halloween with family at this beautiful table.

Oh My Goodness, Pam!! I can see why you love living there and enjoy seeing all the wildlife – it is absolutely gorgeous!! Those photos are spectacular!! Your table is beautiful in the outdoor setting with the woodland animal plates. You have captured the beautiful autumn color pallet beautifully with your amber glass, golden rod and pumpkins on that fabulous tablecloth, We grew up with a similar situation with lots of neighborhood kids with in 6 houses and we played in the empty lot across the street – I remember playing Red Rover the most!! Trick or Treating was such a delight in our neighborhood and a huge affair – everyone had their houses decorated. I hope you have a fun and safe Halloween.🧡🖤

Oh Pam, this is delightful!! What a grand Halloween at Wood’s Edge indeed! I’ve always been a fan of Halloween. I know right around the corner is my favorite–Thanksgiving! The Forest Pine plates are adorable! I want to get those (and the pumpkin plates pop underneath–I miss Tuesday Morning, too). From the candy corn popcorn to the crow, there is nothing spooky about the beautiful view of the Appalachians and Cottage. You’re wise, Pam (NOT the old wise owl, though). Please tell me the day of your birthday! Thank you for sharing such autumnal fun and beauty! As always, you’re so gifted at decorating and sharing the love of all seasons (and especially the grandkids, your RM, homestead….and even more, our amazing Savior!). I’ve been busy substituting–and I’m always happy when I get to be here. Praying for you all always. My heart and prayers are with the hurricane victims (and the looming forecast for Florida). I love you, dear Pam. 🍂💛🐦⬛🍎🙏
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Hi Karla. You are so sweet to take time to comment. I am so happy you are substituting, the students may not realize how blessed they are to have you in the classroom. So many things going on in our country. I know you are praying for all that are impacted. I love you Karla 🙏🏻🧡🍂🙏🏻

I do love SW Pine Forest plates, as I have the owls.🦉 the candy corn popcorn looks delicious. Your future outing with the family sounds fabulous. Lots of memories to be made and enjoyed. Always a pleasure.

What cute plates and table setting for both the grands and the adults, Pam! We never had a Tuesday Morning store, but there are sure others I miss. Wow, your grass looks so good! I love the choices of the plates for each of you, I think they’re perfectly suited! Having the memories with the napkins is such a sweet thing, and to be able to tell the grands that’s what they were used for. You must provide the source for that popcorn, oh my!
Thank you for bringing the sweet side of Halloween to the blog hop. I’m happy to be in your camp. Oh, and yes, we definitely played all those games you named, plus kick the can!
Kim says
Pam, your table is just gorgeous especially with the rye grass, pine trees and hay bales in the background! The Susan Winget plates are adorable and are just the perfect match with the tablecloth and special napkins. The pumpkin plates and bottles are such a pretty shade – I don’t think Tuesday Morning ever made it to Canada but I would always stop in whenever we went to Palm Springs so I miss it too. The crows are the perfect Halloween touch. Happy upcoming birthday and annual pumpkin carving with roasted hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire pit! It is always such a pleasure to visit your lovely tables!
Debra Oliver says
Pam, this is gorgeous. I love an outdoor fall tablescape! The tablesettings and tablecloth are so pretty. Looks like a magazine spread. And what’s an outdoor fall setting without the company of crows. Happy October, I know your grands enjoy your fun tables.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Debra you for your sweet comments. My grands love to have a party!
Karins Kottage says
I have those same memories too! As a young child we lived in New Jersey and New York and Halloween was always such a fun holiday in the neighborhood. Playing all those games was just the best. I am loving all the orange and what a view! Your darling plates that you let your grands choose is such a cute idea. I have similar vases but in pink, green and clear..I would love to have some orange ones. Tuesday Morning and Pier 1 were always a favorite place to shop!
Judy says
Seems like many of us have such fun memories of Halloween! I lived in a small town and had so much fun trick-or-treating in my neighborhood. We made our costumes and thought they were just grand. Love how you share the details of living in the country. Your pics are perfect and your table is gorgeous.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks Judy. I loved reading about your memories!
Sandra @ Dinner at Eight says
Pam, this is a lovely fall table in a beautiful setting! I love the liberal use of orange in each of the table elements, especially those intricately designed glasses. The treats would delight any child (and me too!). The crows bring a subtle nod to Halloween. Enjoy the holiday with the grandkids!
Clara says
Pam, I love your table! The salad plates are so cute! I do miss Tuesday morning! I found several nice things there over the years. The tablecloth is so pretty and the napkins hold a very special memory. The domed stands are definitely versatile and hold delicious treats. We’re going to feel like fall this week. Neighborhoods back in the 60’s did hold special memories. Trick or treating was always fun! The world has certainly changed! Enjoy your week. Clara ❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Clara! Yes, our growing up years were the best❤️
Maureen says
Pam, I always look forward to your tables! I think anyone of any age would be delighted to join you at your table! The plates are adorable and perfect for the season. Have to admit, I enjoyed the crow perched on top of the cloche! When I was a kid in the 70’s one lady made candy apples every year. They were a favourite of all the neighbourhood kids, with some changing costumes just to get a second one! Enjoy your time with your grands around the table!
Cheryl says
