Happy Monday, sweet friends! The fourth Thursday of November is one of my favorite holidays…Thanksgiving!
“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!”
Psalm 107:1 (ESV)
It is Monday Morning Blooms with my talented friends, Lidy and Mary! Our common theme for this month’s edition is Thanksgiving.
We are excited to welcome back Sarah, from Hyacinths For the Soul. I am constantly amazed at her curated collections and eye for detail.
You will find the links for Lidy, Mary, and Sarah at the bottom of this post.
The week before Thanksgiving is very busy as I prepare for the big day. Shopping, prepping, chopping, baking, and setting the dining room table occupies most of my waking moments. For many years Thanksgiving Eve would find us eating a sandwich at the kitchen island. Last year I decided to make the eve before Thanksgiving special by setting a pretty table for the two of us. The Sunshine Cottage is perfect with the glow of twinkling lights from the autumn tree…romantic, yes I think so. A simple turkey sandwich can be elevated when you set a pretty table!
I love decorating the cottage seasonally and especially for the holidays!
A hammered copper pitcher seemed appropriate for autumn blooms. Dahlias, sunflowers, and gomphrena were still blooming at Deep Roots Flower Farm. A few zinnias, cosmos, and coleus were still hanging on in our garden. I combined the mix of available flowers for a Thanksgiving arrangement!
“Reflect upon your present blessings—of which every man has many—not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.”
~ Charles Dickens
Dappled sunlight gives the cottage a warm and cozy feel.
Plaid chargers, pumpkin-colored dinner plates, and salad plates were chosen to remind us of our blessings and to give thanks, not just on Thanksgiving, but every day! ‘Dahlia Days’ napkins are by April Cornell!
An autumn tree is in the background. Fall is my favorite season, so why not celebrate with a tree?! It also reminds me of when our son was little. I would decorate a tree for his room with an autumn theme and then change it for Christmas.
Thanksgiving is a special time to gather family around the table!
The ceramic pumpkin (one in a set of three) has survived for many years. If you look closely, there are some chipped places on the leaves. I can’t part with them because they hold memories of autumns’ past.
“Having been tested and approved, one of the leading prescriptions for heart problems is gratefulness.”
~Butch Richardson
Sunshine Cottage has been dressed for autumn. The grandchildren love when I decorate it for holidays! The girls have asked for a Thanksgiving tea, and of course we will have one. Did you see our announcement?

Such a pretty bouquet of flowers from Deep Roots Flower Farm Pam! Your hammered copper pitcher makes a pretty vase and I love your addition of the coleus. Your Sunshine Cottage makes such a cozy retreat and spot for a table or cup of tea and I love ambiance provided by the twinkling lights from your autumn tree. Such sweet plates and pretty plate stack too! As always it’s a treat to join you for some flower therapy. Looking forward to seeing your table tomorrow. 🦃🍂🍁🧡

Oh, those peach dahlias!🧡💛 And the very sweet place settings for you & Butch. I dearly love this, Pam. The bouquet is so, so pretty. I love a table for two, it’s just so cozy. The twinkle of the tree lights is perfect, now that we’re in standard time. Happy Monday Morning.

Good morning, Pam! Your floral centerpiece is gorgeous in the copper pitcher. I adore dahlias, and they just pop in this bouquet. The autumn plates are so pretty, and how wonderful to enjoy a table for two in Sunshine Cottage. The autumn tree is beautiful, and its lights glimmering in the background is romantic. Your shelves are styled perfectly to celebrate both autumn and Thanksgiving. I agree with Butch’s quote. It is perfect advice for us all. My dear friend, I hope you enjoy your day.

Thank you, Shannon. Looking forward to your table tomorrow!

That’s a lovely idea, Pam, and I love the beauty but simplicity of the table. A friend of mine used to have a Thanksgiving eve gathering of friends — just store-subs and salad with a simple dessert, maybe bakery cookies or something fun. It was a lovely way to give thanks for friendship while having a no-stress gathering. Being simple on that day before (when so darned much food is taking over life) is great — whether it is for two or ten! And I love those dishes!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
A no-stress gathering is delightful. People just love to be together and food doesn’t have to be elaborate!

Pam, I love that you decorate the Sunshine Cottage. I always envy you and Mary in the way you get to “play” with your fun spaces. Your copper pitcher is lovely. I find copper and fall really do play well together. The dahlias in your arrangement are stunning! Your plates and linens are lovely. I know a Thanksgiving tea will be delightful. Eager to see! I know how busy you and countless others are when preparing for Thanksgiving. I was invited to a Friendsgiving brunch yesterday. We each took something, and what a lovely spread we had. It was a delicious and beautiful occasion.
Thank you for inviting me to join in today. It’s always a treat and an honor. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your dear family.

Good morning! What a beautiful arrangement in that copper pitcher…it is definitely going on my favorites list. It’s amazing you were able to gather such a bounty of blooms this time of year. Having dinner in such a pretty setting must feel so special, it is glowing with your autumn tree in the background. Sunshine Cottage is going to be very busy with 4 grands coming for hot chocolate…what a wonderful problem to have! Butch is so right about gratitude.

Hello Roxanne! The girls ask for a tea party every week. We had a Winnie the Pooh tea party a few weeks ago, who knows what will be next?!

Absolutely beautiful, Pam! Romantic? Yes, I think so too! What a sweet table to sit at on the eve of Thanksgiving with your Renaissance Man, thinking of the many blessings God has blessed both of you with.
