Hello sweet friends. I sincerely hope the New Year is off to a good start for you!

This is the first Monday of a new year and Monday Morning Blooms with my friends. Before we leave 2024 behind, let’s review A Year of Flowers!
You will find the links for Lidy’s and Mary’s year of beautiful flowers at the bottom of this post!
A table for 2 at the Sunshine Cottage requires no reservations nor wait time… perfect for Valentine’s Day! Grocery store flowers of spray roses, alstroemeria, pom daisies, eucalyptus, and filler that reminds me of yarrow were arranged in a favorite pitcher!
After the Christmas tree was put away, RM thought the corner in the Sunshine Cottage looked bare. He cut a scraggly little tree and put a few strands of white lights on its lonely limbs. I thought it would be romantic to tie a few of our saved Valentine’s cards on its branches.
It was a cold and cloudy March day when I set my first outdoor table of 2024. With a trip to three grocery stores, I was able to find tulips, alstroemeria, and a sweet smelling filler of large bullwort, also called lace flower and false Queen Anne’s lace. To those blooms I added daffodils cut from my cottage garden and budding blooms from our Japanese Magnolia tree! A couple of moss bunnies came out to play for a joyful Easter tablesetting!
Springtime comes to life on Williams Sonoma salad plates that were offered several years ago.
With spring as our common theme, the weather cooperated and signs of spring were everywhere! Our snowball viburnum supplied large and beautiful blooms along with sprigs of Lady Banks roses and Bridal Wreath spirea cut from our garden. Grocery store mums, carnations, and alstroemeria filled out the arrangement in my paternal grandmother’s heavy stoneware pitcher!
Birds had been busy preparing their nests. Appropriately a couple of bejeweled bird trinket boxes and nests were placed on the table for more springtime charm!
Long-time readers know that sharing about my beloved Mother thrills my heart! With Mother’s Day always on the May calendar, I set a table in memory of Mother and lessons I learned from her!
The table was understated in order to allow the gorgeous peonies to be the stars. Karl Rosenfield, Sarah Bernhardt, and Festiva Maxima blooms were cut from my garden. They bloomed profusely last year, I hope for the same this year!
My favorite place to set a table is in the garden! June is hydrangea season and my dear friend, Martha, provided several varieties for my arrangement!
The late afternoon sunlight dances in the garden!
Funny memories were made with a beach-themed tablesetting! Using a vase within a vase is quite simple. The inner vase is filled with immature ‘Little Lambs’ hydrangea blooms and ‘Adagio’ maiden grass plumes to mimic sea oats that are common on our Gulf Coast beaches. The outer vase is filled with sea shells.
I love the vintage handmade shell box that I found many years ago at an antique shop! The beautiful shell platter belonged to my Mother.
August brings extreme heat and humidity. I remember it was a sweltering day when I photographed my citrus-themed table. An arrangement of limelight hydrangeas and giant yellow marigolds were cut from the garden. Lemons were placed on bamboo skewers and added to the vase!
The Italian tablecloth, with its vivid colors, highlights citrus fruit …lemons, limes, and oranges!
September is the gateway to autumn, however our Appalachian Foothills don’t normally experience autumn weather until late October! Sunflowers were still in bloom in our garden and they joined with grocery store mums, green Trick Dianthus, and alstroemeria for an autumn arrangement.
As an April Cornell Brand Ambassador, I am given the opportunity each season to select table linens. I chose this burst of sunshine tablecloth and coordinating napkins that are called ‘Antique’! It is a returning Heritage Print from the archives. I love its perfect autumn gold-colored background!
October is my favorite month and my love of pumpkins is seen here, there, and everywhere in the garden! With pumpkins as our theme, I arranged a blooming pumpkin with autumn fire sedum and chaste tree blooms from our garden. Beautiful dahlias were from a local grower. The pumpkin’s coloring reminded me of candy corn!
You may have noticed the Sunshine Cottage porch in the background with pumpkins everywhere!
The week before Thanksgiving is very busy as I prepare for the big day! Thanksgiving Eve always finds us enjoying a turkey sandwich at the kitchen island. However, that sandwich can be elevated by moving to a table for two in the Sunshine Cottage! A hammered copper pitcher seemed appropriate for autumn blooms. Dahlias, sunflowers, and gomphrena were still blooming at Deep Roots Flower Farm. A few zinnias, cosmos, and coleus were still hanging on in our garden.
Plaid chargers, pumpkin-colored dinner plates, and salad plates were chosen to remind us of our blessings and to give thanks, not just on Thanksgiving, but every day! ‘Dahlia Days’ napkins are by April Cornell!
The cottage is cozy and warm during Christmas with the twinkling lights from the grandchildren’s tree providing a sweet ambiance! Red spray roses, carnations, and white alstroemeria were grocery store finds. RM cut fresh pine and I added festive picks that I had saved over the years.
A tabletop with memories attached is very meaningful to me. I try to always include something that is special and holds sweet memories on my tablesettings!
Be sure to visit Lidy and Mary to enjoy their year in flowers!

Good Morning Pam, I am up and at it early this morning. I am about to make my tea, but first, I must see your lovely round-up of gorgeous tables and centerpieces! I can not pick a favorite. Each one has a distinct beauty, all of its own.
I enjoy seeing the flowers you choose each time and the vessel that holds them. I especially love it when the season allows you to choose flowers or greenery from your gardens and landscape. How wonderful!
Thank you for such loveliness!
Happy Week to you!

Good morning, Nancy. Thank you for your visit . You were up and at it early this morning. I can’t keep up with your time. It is cold and windy here with some possible snow flurries. It is a good day to stay inside with a cup of tea or coffee, or maybe a mug of hot chocolate! Happy Monday!

Thanks so much, Jenna! Stay warm and safe this week! The wind is howling and it is colder now than early this morning!
Mary says
Good morning Pam, I’m later than usual visiting as our internet has been out since the wee hours of the morning, coinciding with our wintry mix. I was hoping for some snow but we got freezing rain instead. I finally gave up on it being restored anytime soon and hijacked my hubby’s hotspot to visit. 😊 It’s cold and raw out and your year of flowers certainly provides some welcome flower therapy this morning and I’m dreaming of the return of peonies and hydrangeas. 🌸 Your garden tables and arrangements never disappoint, nor do your settings in the Sunshine Cottage. Looking forward to another year of flower therapy with you! Happy Monday💐❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Mary, freezing rain is never good! It is cold, gray, and windy here. Love sharing MMB’s with you and Lidy. Stay warm and safe!

Oh Pam! What a delightful look back. (And in a sense, ahead, as I’m smiling big at the delightful Eastery and springy tables!) But then, there are all those between holidays. Your skill in design comes through in every photo! Now, on to many new settings! I can’t wait.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Jeanie! Your comments are so sweet!

Karla Hale says
Oh, sweet Pam, how I needed this Monday filled with blooms! THANK YOU for sharing! How can I choose my favorites (but I think you know). As always, you bring such beauty into the world. I can’t wait to see how everything will bloom this year, precious friend. I’m praying right now for your sweet Daddy and family. I love you, dearly, Pam. 💚🩷💙🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
PS–stay warm! Butch shared how hard it is to forecast your area. Similar here! We have zero windchill and it’s NOT a good week for my youngest son in K.C. (and for the upcoming move–we will put that off as we can). Please take care!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Hi sweet Karla. It is very windy and cold here, with dark gray skies. I am so happy that the flowers gave you a lift! Thank you always for your prayers. Daddy is doing well with his care givers. I am about to bundle up and go see him. I go every day, it is hard to get time with just him. But, we are grateful for those caring for him. Do you have snow? Take care of yourself, stay warm and safe my sweet friend❤️
Sarah Anderson says
Pam, a gorgeous look back. What a treat on this cold winter day when my garden is mostly under blankets. Stay warm and cozy and safe with these winter storms.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Sarah! It is cold and windy this afternoon. You stay warm, dear one!
Nancy Ruegg says
We are snowed in here, like a lot of folks across the Midwest and Northeast. What a delight to meander through these beautiful photos reminding us that spring and summer will come again with their abundance of flowers! Thank you, Pam!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I am so happy you enjoyed, Nancy. We are cold here, but no snow. Stay safe and warm!
Roxanne Bernard says
Hello Pam, it is so cold and windy here! It makes seeing all your beautiful blooms and background greenery even more appealing. How did 2024 fly by so quickly? Is that a symptom of my advancing years?!? I just went to Hobby Lobby where Christmas is a forgotten memory and Spring is in full bloom. Today is Epiphany where the Wise Men arrived to bring gifts to the Christ child. So it is actually still Christmas!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Roxanne, it is cold here! Is that an age thing, that we stay cold even in our warm home? I need to go to Hobby Lobby, but couldn’t make myself get out. I kept one tree up and plan to take it down tomorrow. I have never left a tree up this long! Stay safe and warm, dear one!

I loved this annual walk through Monday morning blooms Pam. I’m celebrating my birthday this week so it was the perfect beginning for the week.
My favourite is your table scape in memory of your Mother, that blue & white vase with the peonies is absolutely beautiful.

Good morning Pam, you have such a beautiful round up of flowers therapy both indoors, outdoors and Sunshine Cottage. Each arrangement is gorgeous. It’s so fun to look back and see the beautiful blooms. Let’s hope this new years brings us lots of beautiful blooms and great weather.
Heritage Hall says
Leave it to you, dear one, to rescue us from winter wonk with the beauty of your flowered
scapes. Such frigid temps make me wonder if we will (should) ever complain about summer’s
heat again. As ever, your tribute to your beloved Mother is eye pleasing, heartwarming and
a favorite. We are experiencing icy road conditions and those who are able, are opting to
honker down with a mug of something warm, delicious and nutritious per your suggestion.
May all be safe.
