“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-6 ESV
Happy Mother’s Day to moms and expectant moms. We pray today will be a day that refreshes you like our countryside was replenished one afternoon last week by the blessings brought by a spring rain! May your day be showered with love, kindness, and truth!
I always like to give every mother a bouquet on this special day. I selected one that is a standout because of its large blooms and color. Hope you enjoy, even without the benefit of fragrance. Most of all, the bouquet is special because it sits on this quilt, an heirloom keepsake of great beauty, made by Pam’s grandmother.
From Mother’s Day last year, Pam and Seth paused long enough from a busy day to give me their smiles. It was also EM’s birthday…quite an eventful and precious time. We get to do this year’s birthday partying tomorrow, celebrating 9 years for PJ as a grandmother!
When I envision the world’s two best moms, it looks like this. These two loved getting together and never missed many days doing just that. Just like you all know Pam’s dad so well through the pages of our blog, her dear mom is no stranger, gracing these pages often. To know her is to love her and many of you have done so through these pages as well. If you missed it, please check Pam’s post from last week, A Mother’s Love!
Pam lost her dad recently and her mom in 2007. Photos like this one will fade, but the impact of a godly mother never dies and doesn’t fade with time, it only grows stronger. Pam told me she had no idea when this photo was taken, but we are guessing she was 40ish? Faded photographs, but clear memories, of a gracious, loving, faithful, and kind servant of all…Pam’s sweet Mother!
We speak of super moons when they come around, but we have a “super mom” who shines year round…and she lives nearby. We call her daughter-in-love. These 4 little ones have been super blessed with a godly mother who adores them beyond words, and for certain they know it. They will no doubt come to realize the depth of such a blessing more and more as their years pass by!
“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.”
Psalm 127:3 ESV
If you happened to see last week’s post, you will recall how I had the weird coincidence of grabbing a CZ from a store cooler to notice it said Emma. The next one behind it in the same row was Ella. Last Tuesday when I stopped by to get a drink after a workout, Wyatt was on the front…same cooler, same row as last week. Just the strangest thing. I’ve not searched for their names. I guess I will drop by next week to see if Daniel has dropped in!
I realize this photo is a bit fuzzy, but cut me a little slack, the picture is 70 years old. Me and mother, Easter of 1955! Mom was 25! And we were in living color, way back then. A beautiful lady with a beautiful voice!
Moving forward to 1993, my mom, at Pam’s 40th birthday celebration. Mother was 63. It was an unforgettable evening with friends and family, and quite the surprise for Pam who was enjoying being the mother of an 8 year old boy! Mother was all “prettied up” for the occasion.
As much as I love sunshine, there is no way to have such a display as this with a completely clear sky. We do need clouds at times to help us discover even greater joy when sunny skies return!
Blessings to all on this Mother’s Day!

What a beautiful tribute Butch to the mothers in your life! What a fine husband and son you are. I so enjoyed seeing your mom and you as a young fellow. And you got your gift of singing from your mom?
I think someone is reading your post Butch and lets you know how much they enjoy it by putting the names of your best grandchildren. Your daughter in love is so very special and I know this by what you call her plus she is a very pretty mother of four. Pam you are a very blessed wife, mother in love and grandmother. Happy Mothers Day❣️
Thank you Alice. Dad wasn’t a music person so yes, anything along that line is from her. Pam’s dad on the other hand had a great love for music. We hope you had a great Mother’s Day and a wonderful week ahead!
