Welcome friends, Happy Monday and the second day of June! Did your month of May pass as quickly as mine?
“And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
Ephesians 5:2 (ESV)
May was extremely wet with little sunshine in our Appalachian Foothills. I was excited to see the sun this past weekend, it always makes me happy!
I look forward to the first Monday of each month as I join Mary and Lidy for Monday Morning Blooms and a lovely dose of flower therapy! Today we are welcoming back Rita, from Panoply, who is a fellow garden enthusiast and table stylist. She also hosts our seasonal Tablescape blog hops! Psst, mark your calendars for Tuesday, June 10th for a Summer Tablescape Blog Hop.
Our common theme for June’s Monday Morning Blooms is “in the garden”! I absolutely love setting a table outdoors, especially in the garden. God’s creation is on full display and what more do you need?!
With several varieties of blissful hydrangeas in bloom, they were my chosen flowers for this arrangement! Because I had a prior commitment, my amazing husband made a trip to our dear friend’s farm. He cut Macrophylla, also known as French, Bigleaf, or Mophead hydrangeas and varieties of Arborescens! Gorgeous blooms certainly make it easier to arrange them with little effort! An American Atelier ‘Baroque’ pitcher made sure those blissful blooms were the stars! An April Cornell tablecloth made its first appearance. I love its soft peachy-pink background .
A couple of small arrangements were placed in Tracy Porter’s colorful mini vases!
You might notice different lighting throughout the post. Last Wednesday I had a two hour window to set the table and then photograph. It had rained off and on all day, the afternoon was supposed to be sunny. That didn’t pan out! Thirty minutes before I was planning to set the table, the heavens opened and the rain came down. I waited until it stopped and ran outside to dry the table. The weather cooperated for the next two hours and then it poured again. However, I had finished and removed everything from the table. I knew I had to photograph on Wednesday, because heavy rain was coming on Thursday and Friday. And, did it ever rain…both days!!
‘Baroque’ chargers, blush dinner plates with gold edge (Hobby Lobby many years ago), Crown Ducal hand-painted luncheon/salad plates, brushed gold flatware, and peach napkins round out each place setting.
Noritake ‘Reverie’ stemware has wonderful memories attached, it was from my bridal registry and remains a favorite to use.
The skies darkened several times, but thankfully no rain. You might notice how lush and green the grass appears, at least we haven’t had to water.
“June is the pearl of summer, shining with warmth and joy.”
~ L.M. Montgomery
With sunshine, our cottage garden should soon be in full bloom. I removed pillows and other items from the Sunshine Cottage porch waiting for dryer weather to prevail. Seeing the sun peeping through, it may be time to return everything to its original place!
Our panicled hydrangeas are beginning to bud! Soon Little Lambs, Vanilla-Strawberry, and Limelights will be blooming!
“The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies.”
~Gertrude Jekyll
“I was certain it was a dreamer’s dream. Colors from across the spectrum flashed before my eyes, sweet fragrances floating on a gentle breeze awakened my senses, and harmonious melodies drifted through the space surrounding me. Such a peaceful and restful experience was mine, yet I realized awesome dreams do come to an end…but then I discovered I was in my garden.”

A beautiful hydrangea arrangement is a piece of cake to do — assuming you have the gorgeous blooms and wonderful vessels as you do. And so showy and lovely. This one is so pretty with the mix of colors. One of my favorite flowers!
Thanks so much, Jeanie for your sweet comments. Hydrangeas are one of my favorites, also!
Good morning Pam, Butch did an excellent job of cutting and pairing your beautiful hydrangeas blooms with your tablecloth! Your Crown Ducal hand-painted plates are some of my favorites and I love your new April Cornell tablecloth that’s making its debut. Photographing a table outdoors is not without its challenges. I’m glad you able to persevere with the threatening rain and wet weather. We moved out of our moderate drought stage with May’s rainfall. I’m thankful I haven’t had to water this month but boy are the weeds growing like crazy. It’s always a treat to join you for some flower therapy on these Mondays. Wishing you a wonderful and drier 😊 week ahead.💗
Thank you, Mary. Yes, outdoors has its challenges! Love sharing MMB’s with you!
May passes quickly bc weather is rather nice and lots of plants are blooming
On the other hand, we have frigid, barren , endlessly long February with 128 days….(gentle smiles)
Thank you, Gail. Your February sounds harsh, happy you had a nice May!

Pam, I am in love with the lovely peach underpinning of your soft garden pallete of hydrangeas! Yes, the grass is gorgeous as your backdrop! We also had much rain in May, great for newly sown grass, but the the grass was competing with mushrooms in apparently perfect conditions!
I will always love your Reverie china and stemware. t is just so pretty. I missed a chance for some pink and green stemware in a recent estate sale. It made me think of your amber/green. Your combinations and garden setting always make me happy. Thank you for inviting me to participate in the garden MMB. It truly is one of my favorite places to be! Happy June MMB!
Thank you, Rita. The pink and green stemware sounds lovely, sounds lovely. It was wonderful to have you join us for Monday Morning Blooms. Happy gardening!
Everything is gorgeous Pam. Ahhh how wonderful it must be to be able to sit outside and enjoy the beauty around you. I bet the smell of all the flowers is wonderful too. Have a great week. Hugs. Kris
Thank you, Kris. Wishing you a great week and happy gardening!
Your garden is a perfect place to dream. I think you and Butch had lots of dreams to come up with such a beautiful garden. Butch has a lovely way of saying that. The new AC tablecloth was the perfect base for the flower arrangements. Hope your week is mostly sunshine.
Thank you, Alice. Wishing you a lovely week, my friend!

Wow, Pam, I love your varieties of hydrangea in your centerpiece. The colors are so pretty! And what ever happened to Tracy Porter? She created the prettiest designs. It’s fun to see her mini vases with little arrangements in them on your table. You have the most beautiful property, and it must be like heaven eating alfresco in your garden.
Thank you, Ricki Jill. I always loved Tracy Porter designs. She does have a beautiful Instagram! Your comments are so sweet!
It’s all so soft looking and I think you were wise to select the Reverie as a young bride. It’s a timeless look that is perfect. All this rain has kept us cool longer than usual in South Alabama, and I’m sure your area is beautiful with all that lush green!
Thank you, Leslie Anne. The rain definitely kept our temps down! Weeds are out of control, working today to rid the garden of them. It is a big job!
Pam, such a beautiful table to enjoy alfresco. I am in love with your hydrangeas. They are so beautiful and look lovely with your AC tablecloth. The Crown Ducal hand-painted plates are gorgeous. It all looks so gorgeous against your backdrop of grasses and flowers.🌺 so happy to see you invited Rita to join you all.
Thank you, Linda. Hydrangeas are a favorite flower and they do make a pretty arrangement. Happy Gardening!
Pam, your tablecloth is gorgeous! The color is so soft and the various hydrangeas are the perfect centerpiece. The blush plates pair well with the tablecloth as well. The soft green glasses are always a favorite. You did a great job in between rain storms Pam! Enjoy your week. Clara❤️
I was able to get the tablecloth on sale, and I do love its softness. Thank you, Clara. I hope you enjoy a week of sunshine ❤️
Good Morning dear friend.
I agree with some of the others. It’s all so soft looking. From the beautiful foundation of your tablecloth to the gorgeous centerpiece and lovely blush dishes. Such a stunning outdoor garden table you have created in between the raindrops. I don’t know how you do it!
Butch did a wonderful job cutting the hydrangeas! They are exquisite. You both are quite the team!
Happy June Pam!
Nancy, your sweet comments are heart warming. Thank you and hope you enjoy a sunny week!
Good morning dear Pam, your Butch brought back the perfect hydrangeas! You set such a gorgeous table, those dishes! Beyond lovely, and just right for this time of year. Such stunning soft pink and peach colors, wonderfully mimic the colors of those sublime hydrangea flowers. It’s always such a blessing to join together for our beloved Monday Morning Blooms. Wishing you a lovely {and dry!} first week of June. xo Lidy
Thank you, Lidy. I always enjoy our Monday Morning Blooms! Happy week to you!
Oh Pam, Butch is an amazing husband and also provides such lovely quotes for us. Your verse at the beginning was perfect for your list today. How I love the hydrangeas of various colors and those darling mini vases. You’ve sure had a time of it with the rain, haven’t you? Thank you for sharing all this luscious beauty with us. Happy June!
Kitty, thank you for your sweet comments. Butch is amazing in every way! Wishing you a blessed week!
Goodness gracious, that was a marathon getting your photographs! Who needs the gym after that? It all looks so beautiful though. Those hydrangea blooms are perfection and the grass in the background looks like a lush green carpet. Looks like we have 2 more days of sunshine before rain reappears in the forecast!
Roxanne, it was a marathon😂 Thanks so much. We worked in the garden today and it was hot. I think I am getting too old to keep up with Butch. It has definitely been a rain-filled spring! Enjoy your week!
With pastel brush strokes you have painted soft elegance across the table and
Mr. Wonderful selected the perfect blossoms to adorn it…. not to mention his
poet’s heart’s homage to a dreamer’s dream. Despite the weather, tranquility
and beauty were achieved to perfection. You both bless us.
Thank you for beautiful descriptive comments, Mary! Wishing you a lovely week!
