An Easter Sheltering In The Country

April 6, 2020~ Easter, Faith, Monday Morning Blooms

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead..”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭

Hello sweet friends. It is always a joy to have you visit with me. During these unsettling times, life has changed for all of us in both big and small ways. As we have been directed to shelter in our homes, I am so thankful to have a home that provides a physical and emotional refuge when the storms of life threaten. This Easter we are sheltering in the country. As we approach Easter this coming Sunday, may our hearts be filled with the hope that comes only from knowing Jesus through a personal relationship with Him.

It is the first Monday of the month which means Monday Morning blooms with my blogging friends Lidy, Mary, and Shirley. Today our posts will be a little different! Unable to go out and about to shop for flowers, we still wanted to provide you with Easter inspiration and to spread a little joy during this unprecedented time. We have all included an Easter round-up from our archives. After all…

“Where flowers bloom, so does hope”
-Lady Bird Johnson

An Easter afternoon in the country complete with a picnic table and a few sweet treats! Mr. and Mrs. Bunny hopped onto the table wearing their coordinating Easter frocks, aren’t they adorable? The old yellow pitcher, with sweet memories attached, holds azaleas and snowballs from my garden along with pink roses, alstroemeria, and green hydrangeas. Dogwood branches are a highlight of Easter season and add a nice backdrop to this table.

Beautifully decorated Easter cookies were enjoyed by Ella Mae… I may have had one or two!

Links for “baskets” of Easter inspiration are at the bottom of this post.

Whether the picnic table or the dining room please, gather ‘round my Easter table!
One thing you will notice with this Easter review is that I find new ways to use the same things. I hope you will be inspired to try using the same dishes with different placemats, chargers, tablecloths, etc!

A simple floral arrangement of roses, alstroemeria, azaleas, and hydrangeas fill an ironstone vase and rest upon a mirrored tray!

Raise your hand if you remember my red dining room! I love the room in its present pastel blue shade, but I must admit that I miss the drama of the “Mediterranean spice” walls. A basket of spring is filled with an explosion of colorful blooms…yellow tulips, blue hydrangeas, blush roses, bridal wreath spirea, and forsythia!

The basket of blooms moved to the coffee table for a change of scenery.

A pastel blue paisley tablecloth that had been hiding was found just in time for a table in anticipation of spring! The flower ingredients for this simple arrangement are white Fuji mums, white hydrangeas, and pastel pink alstroemeria!

Lovely vintage Noritake floral china pairs perfectly with blush pink dinner plates and vintage Fostoria.

A table with tulips and bunnies gracing a pink checked tablecloth just seems to announce Easter!

For some reason, I think tulips and Easter go together. An abundance of pink and yellow tulips were placed in a green depression glass pitcher… tulips have a mind of their own! Depression glass was one of my first collections as a young bride because it was available and affordable!

We are back again in the red dining room for bunnies and blessings. Blessings upon blessings, even in the midst of this horrendous virus, fill our everyday lives. A spirit of gratitude for God’s goodness and blessings will definitely change our attitude and outlook.

Pasture bunny salad plates and Fitz and Floyd pitchers are often seen on my Easter tables.

A Wedgwood pitcher of pink tulips is nestled in moss and ivy. Chalk eggs fill dainty egg cups!

I think this season I have enjoyed springtime in the country more than ever before. We are grateful to have quite a few acres to roam and enjoy God’s wonderful creation. Perhaps, I have always taken it for granted, but this year every new green leaf and beautiful bloom have been seen through new eyes of thankfulness for God’s good gifts!

Roses, tulips, calla lilies, stock and seeded eucalyptus join a cottage rose tablecloth for floral abundance!

A colorful mix of spring flowers fill a vintage watering can. These lovely blooms might be found growing in any Southern garden or yard. Flower ingredients include tulips, coral bells azaleas, heirloom daffodils, Carolina jessamine, phlox, and hydrangeas!

During these times of uncertainty and possible anxiety, you are in our prayers. Just remember that God has this universe in His Hands and He is still on the throne. He loves each one of us and proved it by giving His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins. But He gloriously conquered death, hell, and the grave and arose on the third day. He now sits at the right Hand of the Father making intercession for you and for me! Amen

Thank you for your visits and gracious comments. May God bless your everyday living.

Pam, Thank you for the beautiful review of your tables and your encouraging words and prayers. They are so appreciated during these uncertain times. I love the drama of your red walls as much as the cool, serene blue color as a backdrop of your dining room. So many tulips, flowers and bunnies to love! How wonderful to have all the solitude and beauty and to be tucked away safely to shelter in your country property. My hubby would be green with envy to have all that acreage! As always it’s a joy to join you for MMB and some flower therapy. Wishing you a peaceful and beautiful week. ♥

Just what we need right now as an antidote to anxiety. Lovely scenes.

Well this tablescaping stuff is a disease, I spent hours yesterday looking for the perfect Christmas tablecloth for my 2020 theme. Still I don’t like my chances of getting treatment, the nurses and doctors are all busy. God bless them all.

    Happy Easter Pam and Family.

I can only imagine the joy you’re feeling in the country acreage right now. As the years go by, sometimes working the landscape feels overbearing, but I bet not this year. Every opportunity to be outside and take notice is a blessing. Your arrangements indoors and out both bring joy, Pam. Happy Easter.

I must admit I bought some high quality fake mixed mini tulips online & have been enjoying them. It’s just something about them that makes me happy. 😊 Seeing your photos of the real ones with other flowers can’t be beat unless you’re enjoying a bouquet in person! I love all the sweet bunny decorations, but Easter is so much more. We celebrate Easter because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. His bodily resurrection enables all those who choose to follow Him to have assured victory over our greatest enemy…death!

I look forward each year when some of my favorite blooms display their amazing beauty in our garden. Snowball viburnum in its full glory with large creamy white blooms. Climbing Lady Banks Rose is covered in hundreds of miniature yellow blooms cascading to the ground. An old-fashioned Bridal Wreath Spirea with its branches arching to the ground in a fountain-like growth habit is loaded with showy double white flowers in clusters of three to six that resemble a bride’s wreath. I still claim the Kwanzan Cherry tree even though it is now on our son’s property. Its ruffled pink double pink blossoms are some of my favorite blooms. All four of these blooms make up an arrangement with a few tulips from the grocery store.

I often shared my sweet Daddy and his stories on m I often shared my sweet Daddy and his stories on my blog. My precious Daddy passed away peacefully on March 26th at the age of 94, surrounded by his beloved family! He was born during the depths of the Great Depression. That may have been part of the reason he was always content and loved the simple things.

“A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.” Proverbs 22:1

After high school graduation he signed to play professional baseball with the Cleveland Indians Organization. His baseball career was cut short when he was drafted in the army. He was seriously wounded in the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart and two bronze stars. Upon returning home, he married my beautiful Mother and they shared 54 wonderful years together before she passed away suddenly.

My brother and I grew up in a Christian home, bathed in love, calm, security, and contentment, under the care of the two finest parents anyone could have. Daddy was known as Pawpaw to his three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

My heart is broken, he was the best Daddy a girl could have. I know he is present with the Lord and I rejoice in that promise, knowing too, that my Mother is also in the eternal presence of our Heavenly Father.

Welcome to Sunshine Cottage and the March edition Welcome to Sunshine Cottage and the March edition of Tea on Tuesdays. My inspiration for teatime is the beautiful linens from @april.cornell With the celebration of their 50th anniversary, many Heritage Prints from the archives have returned. Eden is one of the beautiful patterns that has returned. It is a soft purple paradise where butterflies float, roses bloom, and soft sage leaves levitate. As an April Cornell Brand Ambassador, I was gifted these gorgeous linens! I have been a collector of @april.cornell linens for many years…the floral patterns resonate with my love of English Country.

I am serving my favorite, Earl Gray tea, from an Eileen’s Reserve teapot. Teacups by Grace Teaware and vintage Rose Chintz salad plates by Johnson Brothers add more floral patterns to the mix. Japanese Magnolia blooms were cut from my garden and placed in a lilypad teapot!

Happy Tuesday! Welcome to the Sunshine Cottage whe Happy Tuesday! Welcome to the Sunshine Cottage where it is warm and cozy on this cold February day. It is Tea on Tuesdays and I have set a tea table with the “Blue Roses” collection that was a collaboration between @victoriamagazine and @april.cornell The exclusive porcelain pattern and matching linens have been used many times and I still enjoy their blue and white beauty. Instead of fresh flowers, porcelain ones require no arranging. Sweet treats pair perfectly with a traditional English Breakfast tea. I am joining friends Sarah @sjpa48 and Mary homeiswheretheboatis.net

Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold days, we are experiencing a tease of spring with a 73 degree day that is forecast. After the gray and cloudy days, I needed a dose of color and decided to set a colorful citrus themed brunch! Using a bird gold and pewter stand, I mixed a citrus medley of lemons, oranges, and limes with pink and white carnations as the centerpiece. The table is highlighted with blue and white dishware. Fresh squeezed orange juice, French-pressed coffee and sweet treats of lemon poppyseed muffins, lemon cake with lemon icing, and lemon pastries are perfect for a small brunch. A faux lemon topiary belonged to my beloved Mother and seemed a perfect addition to a citrus-themed table! You are invited to join me and my Monday Morning Blooms friends, Lidy @frenchgardenhouse Sarah @sjpa48 and Mary homeiswheretheboatsis.net by clicking the LINK in my bio!

Welcome to Sunshine Cottage where I have been fluf Welcome to Sunshine Cottage where I have been fluffing for Valentine’s Day! For many years my Sweetheart and I have celebrated February 14th at home where it is quiet, no reservations are required, and we always have a table by the window!

I love the traditional colors of red and pink! Frilly carnations fill a vintage Staffordshire, ‘Charlotte’ pitcher which rests on an antique Limoges plate with a velvet gold-crowned heart. The plate stack consists of a Royal Stafford ‘Asiatic pheasant’ dinner plate, American Atelier ‘Baroque’ luncheon/salad plate, Johnson Brothers, ‘Winchester’ salad plate, and a vintage pierced Bavarian rose plate! I am a huge fan of mixing colors, patterns, and textures for a collected look.

I have joined 17 table stylists for a Valentine’s Day Blog Hop. Click the LINK in my bio to see all of the Valentine inspiration!

Happy Tuesday! On this very cold winter’s day, I Happy Tuesday! On this very cold winter’s day, I am serving my favorite tea, Earl Grey, in the Sunshine Cottage where it is warm and cozy! The magic of dancing sunlight enhances the table that is dressed with a warm tartan plaid throw repurposed as a tablecloth! ‘Winter Fauna’ bird salad plates from Pottery Barn (many years ago and now discontinued) remind me of the birds I watch from my kitchen window during the winter season. The Grace Teaware set adds more blue and white to the Spode ‘Blue Room’ dinner plates. Sweet treats were placed on a stack of Bordallo Pinheiro plates! A darling Hummel ‘Icy Adventure’ depicts a scene of an outdoor frozen pond with a pair of sweet ice skaters, a rosy cheeked boy and girl who have fallen down on the ice. I am sharing Tea on Tuesdays with Shannon @bellebleuinteriors and Mary homeiswheretheboatis.net Link in my Bio will take you to my blog post! Stay warm and safe!
