“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
John 14:27
Happy June sweet friends. Not only is it the first day of a new month, it is the first Monday of the month and that means Monday Morning Blooms. In our troubled and disturbing times, hopefully Shirley, Lidy, Mary, and I can brighten your day with flowers!
“It was June, and the world smelled of roses. The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside.”
-Maud Hart Lovelace
I would have a hard time choosing a favorite flower, but hydrangeas would be in my top three!
There are so many varieties to choose and I have never met one that I didn’t love!
The links for beautiful flower therapy are at the bottom of this post.
One of the easiest ways to arrange flowers is in a wooden or metal box. I placed small jelly/jam jars inside and secured with plastic bags to keep the jars in place. After filling the jars with water and flower preservative, I begin arranging making sure to fill in all the gaps. It is especially important to cut your hydrangea stems on an angle, so there is more surface area for drinking water. Cutting hydrangeas in the morning is always best.
I am always on the lookout for wooden boxes…this Harry & David box was a Christmas delivery. The wood was natural, so I brushed a light coat of white acrylic paint, then wiped off with paper towel before it could dry. You can still see the grain, which was my desired effect. Easy…easy!
Last Friday morning I traveled to the hydrangea farm to visit with my dear friend and flower grower, Martha. She had the golf cart on standby, I jumped in and off we went to the fields. Hydrangeas are late blooming this year, normally her fields would be loaded with blooms. Martha carefully selected five different varieties…Snowflake, Nikko, Invincibelle Spirit, Let’s Dance, and Annabelle. Some were not fully bloomed, but it makes for an interesting arrangement.
As you see different angles of the box…
…the five varieties are evident!
Since I love floral linens for a garden table, I often choose from April Cornell’s beautiful English garden style collection. “Victorian Rose” graces the table.
Sweet contentment is found in setting a garden table on a late afternoon as the sun begins its journey to meet the horizon and the air starts to cool. The symphony of birdsong fills the air and the sweet fragrance of gardenia is carried on the gentle breeze.
The plate stack includes: American Atelier “Baroque” charger, Royal Stafford “Asiatic Pheasant” dinner plate, AA “Baroque” salad plate, and Johnson Brothers “Rose Chintz” dessert plate with vintage Fostoria stemware.
“He has made everything beautiful in its time…”
Ecclesiastes 3:11a

Oh Pam, how wonderful it is to be able to drive through the fields of hydrangeas. You chose such a gorgeous variety of those beauties…Hydrangeas are in the top 3 of favorite flowers for me too. I think I would be visiting Martha’s farm frequently. Your “plate stack” is beautifully curated and your table truly does present your beautiful “garden song” The wooden box couldn’t be more perfect for your gorgeous garden party today. Hope your weather is great this week as ours will be a dream!….Happy MMB Day and as always so happy to share this day with you!!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Shirley. The weather has been beautiful this week, humidity and heat are settling in now. Happy Wednesday!

Pam, You have the most gorgeous collection of April Cornell linens! Your box of hydrangeas from the flower farm is perfectly paired with your Victorian Rose tablecloth for a table in your garden! What a great way to repurpose your gifted Harry and David box for a centerpiece too. I have the porch door and windows open this morning, enjoying the cooler temperatures and am listening to birdsong instead of the news. As always it’s a treat to join you for some flower therapy and MMB. Happy June ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you so much Mary. Birdsong is more calming than the news.

Oh Pam, this is so beautiful. Is there any more incredible blue than that found in hydrangeas? When I visited Gibbs Gardens the hydrangeas were in full bloom. The flowers are paired beautifully with your table setting…as fresh as the breeze wafting through your garden! Yesterday I found a large stand of flourishing zinnias that had self sown in the lawn. My dilemma…mow around them, mow them down, or try to transplant?
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Hello Roxanne. I wish we could get back to Gibbs Gardens for the hydrangeas, that must have been spectacular! That is a dilemma with the zinnias??

Pam, this beautiful display was the perfect thing to greet me this morning! I brightens my day and makes me smile. I adore hydrangeas. We have been planting them like crazy around our gardens! Many are loaded with buds getting ready to bloom. Your pretty rosebud chintz china reminds me of my grandmother’s Spode rosebud chintz. They are both very similar. Your closing quote is perfect and so well written. I also have to tell you, your opening verse is one I turn to often when I am troubled or upset. I join you in praying for peace and healing. Take care, sweet friend!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you sweet friend. I can’t wait to see your hydrangeas.
Sandra at Maison De Jardin says
Pam, your table is fabulous from the tablecloth to the blooms. My Annabelle hydrangeas are always in full bloom on hubby’s birthday, June 17. But not this year, they are just setting on their blooms and they are about the size of a penny. However, I will be happy to see them when they arrive.
I love the rosebud chintz, it always tugs at my heart when I see it. Pam, I certainly join you in praying for peace for our land. Do stay well and have a beautiful week.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Sandra. Wishing you a lovely Wednesday my friend!

Good morning Pam. What a beautiful way to start another week and a new month. Your box filled with hydrangeas is so beautiful with your plate stack and the AC tablecloth. I am so glad that you were told hydrangeas were late this year. I thought I wasn’t going to have any. By this time I have so many and I may have 10 blooms! I saw buds on one of my bushes after a heavy rain so I am hoping they are just late.
Your box full of an assortment of kinds of hydrangeas is very pretty and your table linens are beautiful. I love the plate stack with the linens. The chintz is just the accent needed to pull your look together.
I join you in prayer for healing and peace. These are troubling and disturbing times.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Bonnie. I hope you are having beautiful weather at the beach!

Pam dear, what beauty you show us with these wonderfully presented hydrangeas. I love the wooden container and the color and everything … It is a very elegant and simple presentation, it is beautiful.
I really like flowers, at home I have flowers everywhere, sometimes they are natural and others are made of fabric, but the point is to have flowers. When they are natural and planted, I talk to them and if they get a flower, I congratulate and pamper them … they are like my daughters.
Yesterday you asked me if I had already been with my daughter and my grandchildren, and I say yes. Yesterday I invited them to dinner and we had a great time. Dinner is early, around 8 in the afternoon that there is still a wonderful sun. It is usually at night shortly after 10 pm
A hug

I love your arrangement, your beautiful tablecloth and table setting. I would probably have to say that my 3 favorite flowers are hydrangeas, lilacs, and peonies! I’m a snow bird and just returned from Florida to Pennsylvania yesterday. When I came home, I looked at all my serving pieces, tablecloths, etc. and wondered when would I ever be inviting guests for parties! Not soon- we are still staying iin.. It’s my first time on your blog and I enjoyed the post immensely.

What a lovely and fresh table this is, against an absolutely stunning background. Like you, I collect all kinds of boxes, but I rarely use them. Thanks for the inspiration here I need to dig some of mine out. I’m not the best at arranging flowers, but I do need to learn because this is gorgeous.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you so much Pattie, boxes are easy to place flowers in with little arranging!
