Farm Fresh Flowers

August 17, 2020~ Everyday Living, Faith, Gardening, Monday Morning Blooms, Summer

“Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:23‬ ‭

Hello dear friends. Welcome to Monday Morning Blooms where I join my friends Lidy, Mary, and Shirley to offer flower inspiration. We continue our ongoing theme of “anything goes” during these unprecedented times. I am in the garden once again, so grab your straw hat and I will provide a tall glass of iced tea. In the Deep South, we prefer our tea sweet!

I am so grateful to have farm fresh flowers. Since March all flowers in my arrangements have either come from my garden, wildflowers that have been foraged from our surrounding 250 acre woods, or from two flower farms that are about twenty five miles away. You have met my dear friend Martha that owns the hydrangea farm, where I shared a visit last year. She grows many varieties, but she is probably most famous for snowflake hydrangeas.

I have not officially introduced you to Leah who owns Deep Roots Flower Farm. She offers a wide variety of flowers…ranunculus, poppies, dahlias, cosmos, zinnias, sunflowers, etc!

My colorful arrangement is composed of farm fresh flowers from Deep Roots Flower Farm and my garden.

You will find gorgeous flower inspiration from my friends at the bottom of this post.

I have zinnias planted in two locations. You can read more about my zinnias here.

All of the zinnias are from my garden. All of the dahlias came from the farm, with the exception of “bodacious” dahlia (in the front above the lower sunflower) which came from my garden. The celosia, cosmos, and sunflowers are also from the flower farm. My Renaissance Man planted more sunflowers that are just beginning to bloom. He also planted zinnias for a fall harvest.

The collage is made with photos of flowers from our garden. “Bodacious” dahlia takes center stage in the collage. I think the name suits her perfectly, what do you think?

You will probably notice that I have placed my flower arrangement in several areas of the garden.

The “zinnia bouquet” tablecloth from April Cornell seems most appropriate in front of my zinnias. You can see that some of them have grown quite tall!

“Flowers are the music of the ground. From earth’s lips spoken without sound.
-Edwin Curran

The vessel used for the arrangement is from my Italian canister set. Tip: always shop your house.

I added this little garden bench recently. I am not sure if it will remain in the garden or find a home near the cottage.

Many have asked about the cottage so I will share an update. I am writing this post as I am sitting inside, and most thankful that my hubby added air and heat. The interior is almost finished except for a rug and another chair. The exterior is complete except for porch decor and adding plants and flowers. RM and I are discussing plans, maybe some raised beds. I hope to share the cottage with you in a couple of weeks. The name has been narrowed to two choices. One was suggested by Ella Mae and the other one has special meaning to hubby and myself. We shall see which one wins out!

You will want to be sure and visit the links below for fabulous creations and ideas from Mary, Shirley, and Lidy.

Thank you so much for taking time to visit and for the gracious comments that you share. Wishing you a delightful week!

Pam, Your arrangement of garden and flower farm flowers is a stunner! Your Italian canister makes the perfect vessel and I love how you’ve moved your arrangement throughout your garden to photograph it. Such a sweet bench! I know it will be ‘sitting pretty’ by your cottage. You have the most exquisite collection of April Cornell tablecloths and the zinnia cloth is perfect! I’m going to have to figure out how to outsmart the bunnies next year that ate all my zinna seedlings to the ground despite multiple applications of ‘Liquid Fence’. Looking forward to seeing a cottage update! So happy to joining you for some flower therapy today, Happy Monday. ♥

Thank you Mary. I thought the foxes had taken all of our rabbits, but a couple are hiding under the magnolia. They are so cute…fortunately they have not eaten in my garden. I am hopeful they won’t. Happy Tuesday!

Your arrangement from the flower farm and your garden is a perfected combination that created a most magnificent arrangement celebrating the late days of summer. Oh what I would give to live near a flower farm!
You know how I have admired the beautiful work of you and Butch in your gardens and I cannot wait to see your garden cottage. The name is fascinating me..If you choose Ella Mae’s suggestion, please let us know what the other “dear to your heart” name is. I had to smile as you placed your happy arrangement in many areas of the garden…It was like me taking something out of a box and walking it in every room of the house deciding the perfect place for it and then your arrangement was absolute gorgeous in every setting.
It is so wonderful to join you for MMB Pam! Have a fabulous week!!!

Zinnias and dahlias evoke nostalgia for me as my grandmother, aunt, and mother grew them and loved to create flower arrangements. Your arrangement is lush and beautiful with each bloom created by the master creator that stands out as perfection. Your canister was a great choice as a container and sitting on your April Cornell tablecloth in front of your zinnia patch is endearing and charming.I love all the locations you placed your arrangement. Each has charm.
I would be a good customer of the flower farms you enjoy.Wish some flower farms would spring up in our area.

Such beautiful big blooms! They look so pretty in the yellow vase, and I loved seeing them in all the different garden locations…I think my favorite is on the April Cornell tablecloth in front of your zinnias, just knock-out! I love your bench addition, you will have fun styling vignettes with that. Your colorful arrangement is perfect for this time of Summer, big, bright beautiful blooms! Your bodacious dahlia does indeed live up to it’s name! I always love my visits to your garden and look so forward to the grand reveal of your cottage 🌺🌸🌻

I often shared my sweet Daddy and his stories on m I often shared my sweet Daddy and his stories on my blog. My precious Daddy passed away peacefully on March 26th at the age of 94, surrounded by his beloved family! He was born during the depths of the Great Depression. That may have been part of the reason he was always content and loved the simple things.

“A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.” Proverbs 22:1

After high school graduation he signed to play professional baseball with the Cleveland Indians Organization. His baseball career was cut short when he was drafted in the army. He was seriously wounded in the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart and two bronze stars. Upon returning home, he married my beautiful Mother and they shared 54 wonderful years together before she passed away suddenly.

My brother and I grew up in a Christian home, bathed in love, calm, security, and contentment, under the care of the two finest parents anyone could have. Daddy was known as Pawpaw to his three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

My heart is broken, he was the best Daddy a girl could have. I know he is present with the Lord and I rejoice in that promise, knowing too, that my Mother is also in the eternal presence of our Heavenly Father.

As an April Cornell Brand Ambassador, I was gifted these gorgeous linens! I have been a collector of @april.cornell linens for many years…the floral patterns resonate with my love of English Country.

Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold days, we are experiencing a tease of spring with a 73 degree day that is forecast. After the gray and cloudy days, I needed a dose of color and decided to set a colorful citrus themed brunch! Using a bird gold and pewter stand, I mixed a citrus medley of lemons, oranges, and limes with pink and white carnations as the centerpiece. The table is highlighted with blue and white dishware. Fresh squeezed orange juice, French-pressed coffee and sweet treats of lemon poppyseed muffins, lemon cake with lemon icing, and lemon pastries are perfect for a small brunch. A faux lemon topiary belonged to my beloved Mother and seemed a perfect addition to a citrus-themed table! You are invited to join me and my Monday Morning Blooms friends, Lidy @frenchgardenhouse Sarah @sjpa48 and Mary homeiswheretheboatsis.net by clicking the LINK in my bio!

Welcome to Sunshine Cottage where I have been fluf Welcome to Sunshine Cottage where I have been fluffing for Valentine’s Day! For many years my Sweetheart and I have celebrated February 14th at home where it is quiet, no reservations are required, and we always have a table by the window!

I love the traditional colors of red and pink! Frilly carnations fill a vintage Staffordshire, ‘Charlotte’ pitcher which rests on an antique Limoges plate with a velvet gold-crowned heart. The plate stack consists of a Royal Stafford ‘Asiatic pheasant’ dinner plate, American Atelier ‘Baroque’ luncheon/salad plate, Johnson Brothers, ‘Winchester’ salad plate, and a vintage pierced Bavarian rose plate! I am a huge fan of mixing colors, patterns, and textures for a collected look.

I have joined 17 table stylists for a Valentine’s Day Blog Hop. Click the LINK in my bio to see all of the Valentine inspiration!

Happy Tuesday! On this very cold winter’s day, I Happy Tuesday! On this very cold winter’s day, I am serving my favorite tea, Earl Grey, in the Sunshine Cottage where it is warm and cozy! The magic of dancing sunlight enhances the table that is dressed with a warm tartan plaid throw repurposed as a tablecloth! ‘Winter Fauna’ bird salad plates from Pottery Barn (many years ago and now discontinued) remind me of the birds I watch from my kitchen window during the winter season. The Grace Teaware set adds more blue and white to the Spode ‘Blue Room’ dinner plates. Sweet treats were placed on a stack of Bordallo Pinheiro plates! A darling Hummel ‘Icy Adventure’ depicts a scene of an outdoor frozen pond with a pair of sweet ice skaters, a rosy cheeked boy and girl who have fallen down on the ice. I am sharing Tea on Tuesdays with Shannon @bellebleuinteriors and Mary homeiswheretheboatis.net Link in my Bio will take you to my blog post! Stay warm and safe!
