Hello sweet friends. November is here and we will celebrate one of my favorite holidays…Thanksgiving!
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!”
Psalm 100:4
I am joining a group of table stylists to share inspiration and ideas for your Thanksgiving celebration. A special thank you to Chloe at Celebrate & Decorate for organizing us.
I have been hosting Thanksgiving for many years. My heart will be full as my family gathers around the dining room table! I will serve the traditional recipes from my beloved Mother. Turkey with dressing, rosemary mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green beans Caesar, four cheese macaroni, yeast rolls, and jellied cranberry sauce from the can (my Daddy’s request). Desserts will be pecan pie and carrot cake. Most of us will have tables laden with food while many around the world will go to bed hungry. Am I thankful enough for Food? Clothing? Shelter? Or do I take these basic needs for granted?
Finding contentment always begins with a heart filled with thankfulness for the blessings that we have received.
You will find links to beautiful Thanksgiving tablescapes at the bottom of this post.
Using an older plaid throw placed on the diagonal gave warmth to my table. After placing a cream-colored tablecloth with a lovely gold border on the table, I decided it needed something more.
Antler sheds just seem to be appropriate during the autumn season. My favorite gold candle stands were chosen to add a little glam to the more rustic setting.
“We would worry less if we praised more. Thanksgiving is the enemy of of discontent and dissatisfaction.”
-H.A. Ironside
Spode “woodland” dinner plates and turkey salad plates by Royal Stafford are accentuated by the rust-colored vintage linen napkins.
Feather placemats are topped with wood slice chargers. Acrylic tortoise flatware complement the throw! If I had known the spoon would mirror the photographer, I might have chosen clothing that was gold, orange, or brown instead of red!
This year has been a challenge for all of us. I have found my faith and trust in the Living Lord and the comforts of home have sustained me. I have learned to appreciate the simple things. Most importantly, I am more thankful for what I have taken for granted in the past.
I moved my Monday Morning Blooms floral arrangement from the coffee table to the dining room table. A soup tureen was used to hold the flowers…
…with a beautiful pheasant resting on top of the lid!
“The thankful heart opens our eyes to a multitude of blessings that continually surround us.”
-James E. Faust
My Spode “woodland” pattern has eight different birds. My favorite one is the pheasant with its colorful plumage!
“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!”
1 Chronicles 16:34

What a beautiful table. I love the Spode plates against the autumnal plaid. The antlers and feathers are the perfect rustic touches. I laughed about the jellied cranberry…I got the same reaction after I labored over a fresh cranberry and orange compote! But that is what makes memories (my dinner is all of my mama’s recipes too).
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Roxanne. Yes, I did the same one year laboring over a fresh cranberry salad. Happy Wednesday!
Bonnie Morgan says
Your table is beautiful, Pam! Your plaid throw laid on the diagonal is delightful. I love the rich tones of the plaid with your elegant fall arrangement. I love the colors in your flowers and they contrast and accent beautifully. You are so good with color and the unexpected. Repeating the feathers from the placemats to the arrangement was artful. I love the view from the table to the window. Your dining room is elegant and thinking of your family gathered together there is sweet.
My heart is warmed with your scriptures and reflections as well as the pretty quotes.Such a lovely post.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Bonnie. I enjoy using what I have in different ways!

“We would worry less if we praised more.” If ever I were to have a tattoo, that would be it! Pam, I really think faith and comforts of home are truly the message driven this year, more than ever. It pleases me to no end to see that you’ll be able to share your traditional dinner with your close circle of family this year still. Your table setting speaks to comfort and tradition with the rich plaid and feathered fowl. I love how you layered it all – the throw, and then the stacking the chargers on the feathered mats and the mix of Spode and Royal Stafford. I have a fondness for the pheasants too. I am thankful for a life simple enough that I can feel safe in my routine in spite of the pandemic, but do miss being able to gather freely with friends and family, especially with the holidays coming. Nonetheless, I am thankful for the many people in my life, and you are certainly one of them!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Rita, you are so gracious and kind. I count your friendship as a rich blessing.
Alice Genzlinger says
Simple pleasures are the ones that have lasting memories. I’m currently in SD at the old farm house. We are literally in the middle of nowhere. Dirt roads and not a living soul in sight, just cows, corn and soy bean field that reach to the horizon. Calm is all around. It’s the perfect place to be on Election Day. Today I am giving thanks I have lived in a country established on the principle that God is worthy of trusting and that He provides for His children. And that is reason enough.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Amen and Amen, Alice. We can only know peace in our nation if the peace with and of God reigns supreme in our hearts. God is always good!
the Painted Apron says
I love love the way you did the plaid throw Pam, such a wonderful and cozy backdrop for your Thanksgiving table! Such gorgeous Thanksgiving plates and a stunning flower centerpiece say Welcome Welcome, let us be grateful! Yes, we should all be so thankful for the simple pleasures we enjoy everyday, food, clothing and shelter, and this year especially we will treasure any gathering we are lucky enough to have. Your menu sounds perfect but it also sounds like you’ll be cooking for days…but I guess that’s what makes Thanksgiving fun, the preparation and anticipation is as enjoyable as the feast itself! I know you will have a beautiful family celebration!

Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Jenna. I usually begin prepping on Monday and the cooking begins on Tuesday. I am so thankful for double ovens and an extra refrigerator!

Pam, I was so excited to see your Thanksgiving post and the beauty you share with all of us. The sheds, woodland settings, and the plaid so perfect (and I thought your added touch of color in the spoon was perfect 😊). I’d love to sit at your table with you, a cup of coffee, and conversation of the amazing thankfulness we share in Christ and life. Thanksgiving is my favorite season. 💚

Karla, sharing a cup of coffee and conversation of life with Christ would be amazing!

Pam, I love the plaid throw as a cozy foundation for your table. The warm colors and textures of your feathered mats and wood chargers set of your Spode and Royal Staffford dish layers beautifully. Your Thanksgiving menu sounds delicious with your family favorites. I’m interested in your Green Beans Caesar as we’re always looking for a way to dress up green beans that aren’t in casserole form and covered in soup. 🙂 As always it’s a treat to join you at table, Happy Tuesday ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Mary. I will email the recipe.

Pam, Your table is beautiful! I love the plaid throw paired with amber goblets and Spode dishes. I love the goblets; they’re so pretty with clear stems and just the right shade of amber. The tortoise handled utensils are lovely. Your menu sounds tasty. Our menu is also a compilation of my Mom’s recipes and includes jellied cranberry. The antler sheds and feathered placemats with the wood slice chargers are perfectly paired with the plaid throw. The MMB bouquet perfectly compliments the table. Enjoy your day sweet friend! Clara ❤️

Your tablescapes are always an inspiration. Your quote from H.A. Ironside reminded me of my sweet Daddy who is with the Lord now. I heard him quote Ironside many times in his sermons.

Pam, what a warm, festive and inviting table you’ve set! So many wonderful details evoking the autumn season. Your layering and styling of elements is beautiful. I especially love and envy your gorgeous tortoise shell flatware. We are a cranberry relish family by tradition. It’s my French great grandmother’s recipe with orange rind and Cointreau. I often put small amounts in pretty glass jars as Thanksgiving gifts.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Debbee, I know your cranberry relish is delicious. Thank you!

Carole @ From My Carolina Home says
Lovely as usual, Pam. We will spend our holiday as we have for many years, just the two of us. I will miss the bigger party that is usual for the Saturday after, but I’m just not comfortable with large gatherings yet. When we have a tested and approved vaccine, then we will get back to more normal living.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I understand not being comfortable. Wishing the two of you a lovely season of Thanksgiving!
Karen (Back Road Journal) says
As each photo passed before my eyes, I knew exactly what would be my favorite part of your beautiful table but by the end all I can say is that I love it all. On top of that, your menu sounds wonderful and I know it will be a special day of Thanksgiving with your family.

Thanks Karen. There will be tons of preparation, but so worth it.

Pam, my number one is plaid and your selection of your rich chocolate brown and gold throw for your table makes me feel warm, comfy and cozy. Immediately, I felt blessed and thankful for the many blessings in my life, just by the viewing your lovely tablescape which portrays nature and loving togetherness. The natural elements like the colorful flowers, feathers and deer antlers remind me of the importance to thank God for the creation of these beautiful pieces of nature. Truly it is a table which exemplifies giving thanks. Happy Thanksgiving.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Marsha, you are so sweet to pen such gracious words!

Sorry I am so slow commenting my dear friend, but the fact remains that your table is stunning as usual. Love the pheasants, both white and colorful. Your menu sounds so so good….and I , too, am very concerned for those who have no food, clothing or shelter. We are fortunate to live in the U.S. but even we have those in need. The Captain and I usually invite friends who are alone to come share our table. (Matthew 10:42) and (Psalm 9:1)
Love you my sister in Christ…hugs and Blessings
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Kari, I am so thankful that you could be back to join in the hop. I love that you invite friends who are alone, that is a beautiful picture of grace. Love to you and the Captain!

Thanksgiving is the one holiday the hubby and I cling to. This year is likely to be the first when our little family hasn’t been together and that we won’t be hosting. That’s life in the pandemic. Your table is filled with lovely things and at Thanksgiving will, I’m sure, be filled with love.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I remember that you always claimed that holiday for your family to be together at your home. I am so sorry that won’t happen this year. Wishing you a lovely season of Thanksgiving!
