Happy September, the gateway to my favorite season!
“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
Micah 6:8 (ESV)
“Breaking free from the grips of a lingering summer, and gaining freedom to embrace an anxious autumn, requires a September.”
~ Butch Richardson
Not only is it Labor Day, but it is also Monday Morning Blooms!
For our September edition of Monday Morning Blooms, Lidy, Mary, and I welcome our special guest Shannon from Belle Bleu Interiors. Shannon is a sweetheart and needs no introduction, she has been our guest many times! You will find all three of the ladies’ links at the bottom of my post!
Our common theme is autumn! Our Appalachian Foothills normally do not experience any fall weather during September! But we can finally begin to dream of pumpkin-spice everything, s’mores around the fire pit, warm fuzzy boots, cozy sweaters, and changing leaves! The garden is tired and looking a bit forlorn, but it remains my favorite spot to set a table!
Sunflowers are still blooming in our garden and they join with grocery store mums, green Trick Dianthus, and alstroemeria for an autumn arrangement. Chocolate mint from the garden provides a wonderful fragrance at the table!
I am always excited when April Cornell sends me happy mail. As an April Cornell Brand Ambassador, I am given the opportunity each season to select table linens. I chose this burst of sunshine tablecloth and coordinating napkins that are called ‘Antique’! It is a returning Heritage Print from the archives. I love its perfect autumn gold-colored background!
The early evening sunlight casts a glow across the garden!
Leather (faux) chargers and American Atelier ‘Baroque’ dinner plates perfectly frame the autumn bird plates for an early September table!
This year our sunflowers have been the gift that keeps on giving!
I sometimes call the glasses ‘jewel’ stemware with colors of peridot, amethyst, and amber! It is used often for fall tables.
Adagio maiden grass provides a textural background for an autumn table!
The garden has definitely taken on the look of late summer/early autumn. It has been extremely dry, oppressively hot, with windy conditions which has felt like a desert!
The view behind the table is of the cottage garden!
It is fun to add a little jewelry to the table with amber napkin rings!

Good morning Pam, Your April Cornell tablecloth makes for a lovely foundation for a table to welcome September! I love the softer muted color palette and pattern with the sweet spray of flowers. Your leather chargers, copper flatware and amber napkin rings add the perfect burnished accents for fall. How wonderful that you still have sunflowers blooming and I see your garden is still pushing zinnias in the background. I’m a bird fan so I love your sweet bird plates too. We looking forward to some cooler temperatures this week after a front moves through tonight and a break from temps in the 90s, I hope you are too. As always it’s a treat to share blooms with you on these Mondays. Happy September and Labor Day! 🌻🍂🍁🧡

Such a perfect segue into September, Pam! I love your choice flowers, and the new ‘Antique’ AC tablecloth and napkins are really pretty, perfect colors for September. Those stems of yours are my favorite. I just love the tri-colors. Your garden certainly doesn’t appear as though it suffered the extremes of this summer weather, but I know you & Butch take great pains to keep it looking as good as it does. It makes for beautiful settings and. I’m sure, pure contentment.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Rita! As a fellow gardener you understand the wows and woes of gardening. Enjoy this first week of September!
Roxanne Bernard says
Butch truly is a Renaissance Man! One day you should gather all his observations in a little book for the grands. Your table looks beautiful with the AC tablecloth setting the perfect autumn tone, and those plates are absolutely gorgeous. John’s family was stationed in Morocco when he was an teenager, and he says that is exactly how the hot, dry winds felt!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Yes, Roxanne. If I let myself I could brag about all of his talents. He is amazing! Did John like Morocco? I have always thought that would be an interesting place to visit!

Pam, Your new linens are perfect for the early fall. The bird salad plates pair well with the tablecloth and glasses. Your bouquet is beautiful. We have cooler temps but higher humidity so no fall feeling weather but it will happen soon. We did get rain which was wonderful! Enjoy your day. Clara❤️

Such a beautiful table Pam, I couldn’t take my eyes off of your flowers in the centerpiece, they are gorgeous! Love the new AC tablecloth, it looks so pretty with your stemware and in your garden setting. Love the copper flatware and the napkin rings. I know I always tell you this, but your garden never looks tired or worn out to me, it’s always beautiful!

Thank you, Jenna! Your sweet comments are so appreciated. We are supposed to have cooler weather on Thursday. I can’t wait!
Alice Genzlinger says
Another beautiful AC tablecloth. Not only are they beautiful they are also very well made. I’m so sorry you had such a hot dry summer and the wind that just would not go away. We had to go to Aurora last week and everywhere I looked it was brown and seemed to have no life. One lit match would be the end of a lot of homes and businesses. We’ve been blessed that there have been no big fires. We had our last rain the end of May. I pray for rain in many places. God says it rains on the just and the unjust and as long as it rains I’ll be thanking him.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Alice. I really love these new linens. No rain since May, I should not complain. I am so thankful for no big fires for you all! Wishing you a lovely first week of September!
Linda Primmer says

Thank you, Linda! I have never had sunflowers to bloom for this long. I think they are about to call it quits. Happy first week of September!

Oh what a view to delight in, Pam! Your tablecloth is perfect for early Fall and those birdie plates….be still my heart. Your colorful centerpiece captures all the colors of September. I wish I was sitting there to take in the beauty. Of course I love that backdrop of the maiden hair grass.

Pam, your new “antique” AC linens are the perfect choice for a “gateway” into Autumn and I love the more muted shades. I love the flowers – the sunflowers look so happy and the Trick Dianthus is so pretty. The amber napkin rings pick up the amber in your jewel goblets, and I love the warm shades in the placemats and copper flatware. The bird plates are darling! I know that it has been a challenging summer for you and gardening, but it looks lovely from my vantage. We are unseasonably hot here this week with our weekend temps predicted in the high eighties and low nineties (that’s hot for us!) and my fingers are crossed that you get some cooler temps and much needed rain – sooner rather than later. Happy almost Autumn to you as I know it is your favorite time of year!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Kim, you are a sweetheart with your faithful visits and gracious comments. We started some cooler temps today, but no rain. Happy Weekend, sweet friend!
Nancy Ruegg says
Another beautiful tablescape, Pam, in spite of the heat and dryness spoiling many of your blooms. That April Cornell tablecloth is PERFECT for early fall–before the reds and oranges make their appearance. Here at the edge of our little woods, golden leaf showers from black walnut trees have begun–such a lovely late summer/early autumn sight. Fall is my favorite season–I wish it lasted a bit longer!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Nancy, your comments are so sweet! Fall is my favorite, also. We have a cool down which is so nice after weeks of heat. Happy Weekend!
Cheryl Smith says
Oh, my! Just when I think you can’t come up with a prettier tablescape, you prove me wrong! So beautiful! And I love the autumn feel of the natural light.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Cheryl! I enjoyed putting this one together!
