It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

December 3, 2024~ Blog hop, Christmas, Tablescapes

Merry Tuesday and I am delighted that you are here for the most wonderful time of the year!

“And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭7‬ ‭(ESV‬‬)

I am joining fourteen talented table stylists for a Christmas Tablescape Blog Hop hosted by my friend, Rita from Panoply!

The early morning sunlight casts a beautiful glow on the table!

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year
With the kids jingle belling
And everyone telling you be of good cheer
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!”

There are many Christmas songs that I play on repeat each year. One that I love is Andy Williams singing “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”. It was written in 1963, by Edward Pola and George Wyle. Wyle was the vocal director for Williams’ television show and he wrote the song especially for the Christmas show. It has consistently been in the Billboard Top Ten Holiday Songs since 2001.

“It’s the hap-happiest season of all” as birthdays and holiday meals center around our dining room table. I am always looking for new ways to use what I have collected through all our years of marriage. A pair of angels made their first visit to the table after moving all around the house for more than twenty years.

Golden antler napkin rings offer a whimsical touch to a more formal setting. They were a purchase a few years back on a trip to Highlands, NC.

Red stemware is used for many occasions during the year, Valentine’s Day, Independence Day, and of course, Christmas!

“There’ll be parties for hosting, marshmallows for toasting.”

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year
There’ll be much mistletoeing
And hearts will be glowing when loved ones are near
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.”

The centerpiece was so easy to make…a fresh pineapple surrounded by oranges and lemons on a bed of pine and cedar. Loblolly pine and fruit were placed on either side of the centerpiece. Eastern red cedar adorns the chandelier.

‘Winter Holiday’ dinner and ‘rose wreath’ salad plates by Fitz and Floyd are currently available on their website. Elegant gold glass chargers came from Hobby Lobby years ago. In case you missed Monday Morning Blooms yesterday, I used ‘Winter Holiday’ in a different way. The fruit centerpiece was placed in a lovely Arte Italica ‘Natalie’ bowl!

Sparkling white grape juice with fresh cranberries and a sprig of rosemary is a refreshing drink for all ages to enjoy!

The beautiful Department 56 angels are extremely heavy and each holds a candle. They were ordered from Horchow many, many years ago.

When I began looking through the photos of the table, I loved seeing the angel in front of the large painting on the wall!

The velvet runner is often used on my Christmas tables!

Another long-ago purchase is the Williams Sonoma tablecloth. It is plain on top but has the most fabulous border of six Christmas carols with a well-known written phrase and a descriptive illustration of each carol! I remember well the Christmas long ago when RM and I walked into the store in early autumn and found this tablecloth on clearance. It remains a favorite, but a pain to iron!

‘Holly’ napkins are by April Cornell and modern gold flatware adds a bit more elegance!

Pam, could you hear me singing along to Andy Williams’ song through the internet?! We had that original album growing up, loved his family show, and now my girls love his classic Christmas albums too (one actually plays original vinyl!). Your table is fabulous! My goodness, those angels are just magnificent. I always wonder when I see beautiful pieces like that how my friends like you store them so as to avoid chipping and breakage. Your use of the fruits and greens paired with your salad plates is beautiful. The tablecloth and chargers add elegance and, of course, having the whimsy of the antler napkin rings and the ‘adult’drinks served will make the grands feel extra special. I love that morning light, my favorite time of day.
Pam, thank you for bringing your family traditions and table talents to our hop. I appreciate you!

Woke up early and what did I see , A most Wonderful post of Christmas past in the dinning room. The angles from Horchow are magnificent. And Horchow is still around I think. And the table cloth is beautiful. It’s a large one and fits your table perfectly. Any time you use fresh cut greens that Butch brings then I will love them. The table would not be complete without the red glasses. I saw a little of the Christmas tree sitting in the window. Now eating at that table would be very special.

Department 56 always has such beautiful things, don’t they? Those angels are spectacular. And I love the pineapple and fruit. That song is a good one — we did that as one of our Christmas exchange songs one year and it was fun finding things that related to it for our gift bags! A gorgeous table, Pam!

Good Morning Pam, I have the Johnny Mathis version of ‘The Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ in my Christmas playlist and it’s a favorite! I love the simplicity of the pineapple and fruit in your ‘Natale’ bowl, especially flanked by your stunning angel candleholders! I love using fresh greenery at the holidays and it’s beautiful on your chandy. I love the overhead shot looking down at your beautiful table with your tree in the corner…the gold accents from your chargers, napkin rings and flatware are lovely. And what a gorgeous border on your tablecloth! I hear you about ironing, wrinkles in tablecloths are my pet peeve. Have you ever tried spraying with Downy Wrinkle Releaser? I mainly use it on clothes when traveling but have used it on a vertical surfaces when I can’t iron. As always, it’s a treat to have a virtual seat at your table. Merry Tuesday! 🎄❤️

Pam, I never get tired of that song or any Christmas music for that matter! Your angels are so beautiful, they are stunning on the table. Your centerpiece has a distinct Williamsburg feel to it. And I love those antler napkin rings. It’s a beautiful, sunny day here but quite chilly. I just attempted my first Turkey sausage gumbo, and it is simmering away on the stove. (My roux looked pretty good). Wish you and Butch lived closer and could come to dinner!

Pam, your lovely and elegant table made me feel like I was in Europe. Such rich colors and classic prints, especially the angels. The tablecloth is such a perfect selection for the table along with the colorful fruit. The dinnerware stack is as much of a exquisite classic as the son, It is a Wonderful Time of the Year. (I love the song and look forward to hearing it each year.) The fresh greenery along with the soft and rich velvet runner is such a beautiful pair. All of it together reminds me of being in the rich castles like the Biltmore at Christmas. Merry Christmas Pam.

The angel is particularly eye-catching as well as being beautiful. Using fruit to create a centerpiece is perfect for Christmas and I love the use of the music lyrics to establish that great holiday atmosphere. Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season.

Pam, those angels are breathtaking! I spotted them first thing as I adore angels. In fact, my living room Christmas tree is adorned with many angel ornaments that I have collected over the years. The centerpiece of fresh greens and fruit is both beautiful and festive. The tablecloth is such a pretty addition. You made me laugh about ironing. It is definitely a chore that I don’t like. Your dining room looks gorgeous decorated for Christmas with the tree glowing in the background. I missed joining you and the other girls on the hop. Pam, this table is really lovely — elegant and multi-layered. Starting with that fabulous tablecloth. I love the way it’s designed with festive illustrations on the sides and a plain top bordered by bold red and green stripes that frame your tablescape. The angels with their torches are simply spectacular with such attention to detail. They’re imposing, but they don’t dominate the fresh centerpiece you’ve created. I love the wide range of colors you’ve used in the table runner, napkins, china, stemware and the fruit that all flow together harmoniously. The reds sprinkled throughout really pop. A lovely way to celebrate! Merry Christmas

I often shared my sweet Daddy and his stories on m I often shared my sweet Daddy and his stories on my blog. My precious Daddy passed away peacefully on March 26th at the age of 94, surrounded by his beloved family! He was born during the depths of the Great Depression. That may have been part of the reason he was always content and loved the simple things.

“A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.” Proverbs 22:1

After high school graduation he signed to play professional baseball with the Cleveland Indians Organization. His baseball career was cut short when he was drafted in the army. He was seriously wounded in the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart and two bronze stars. Upon returning home, he married my beautiful Mother and they shared 54 wonderful years together before she passed away suddenly.

My brother and I grew up in a Christian home, bathed in love, calm, security, and contentment, under the care of the two finest parents anyone could have. Daddy was known as Pawpaw to his three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

My heart is broken, he was the best Daddy a girl could have. I know he is present with the Lord and I rejoice in that promise, knowing too, that my Mother is also in the eternal presence of our Heavenly Father.

Happy Monday! With March bringing the promise of s Happy Monday! With March bringing the promise of spring and looking forward to our garden awakening, I planted a blooming bulb garden in my Sunshine Cottage! The butcher block countertop under a window, was a perfect place for a mini garden. Muscari, hyacinths, tulips, and daffodils danced in the sunlight and filled the cottage with an amazing fragrance!

Happy Tuesday! Welcome to the Sunshine Cottage whe Happy Tuesday! Welcome to the Sunshine Cottage where it is warm and cozy on this cold February day. It is Tea on Tuesdays and I have set a tea table with the “Blue Roses” collection that was a collaboration between @victoriamagazine and @april.cornell The exclusive porcelain pattern and matching linens have been used many times and I still enjoy their blue and white beauty. Instead of fresh flowers, porcelain ones require no arranging. Sweet treats pair perfectly with a traditional English Breakfast tea. Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold days, we are experiencing a tease of spring with a 73 degree day that is forecast. After the gray and cloudy days, I needed a dose of color and decided to set a colorful citrus themed brunch! Using a bird gold and pewter stand, I mixed a citrus medley of lemons, oranges, and limes with pink and white carnations as the centerpiece. The table is highlighted with blue and white dishware. Fresh squeezed orange juice, French-pressed coffee and sweet treats of lemon poppyseed muffins, lemon cake with lemon icing, and lemon pastries are perfect for a small brunch. A faux lemon topiary belonged to my beloved Mother and seemed a perfect addition to a citrus-themed table! You are invited to join me and my Monday Morning Blooms friends, Lidy @frenchgardenhouse Sarah @sjpa48 and Mary homeiswheretheboatsis.net by clicking the LINK in my bio!

Welcome to Sunshine Cottage where I have been fluf Welcome to Sunshine Cottage where I have been fluffing for Valentine’s Day! For many years my Sweetheart and I have celebrated February 14th at home where it is quiet, no reservations are required, and we always have a table by the window!

I love the traditional colors of red and pink! Frilly carnations fill a vintage Staffordshire, ‘Charlotte’ pitcher which rests on an antique Limoges plate with a velvet gold-crowned heart. The plate stack consists of a Royal Stafford ‘Asiatic pheasant’ dinner plate, American Atelier ‘Baroque’ luncheon/salad plate, Johnson Brothers, ‘Winchester’ salad plate, and a vintage pierced Bavarian rose plate! I am a huge fan of mixing colors, patterns, and textures for a collected look.

I have joined 17 table stylists for a Valentine’s Day Blog Hop. Click the LINK in my bio to see all of the Valentine inspiration!

Happy Tuesday! On this very cold winter’s day, I Happy Tuesday! On this very cold winter’s day, I am serving my favorite tea, Earl Grey, in the Sunshine Cottage where it is warm and cozy! The magic of dancing sunlight enhances the table that is dressed with a warm tartan plaid throw repurposed as a tablecloth! ‘Winter Fauna’ bird salad plates from Pottery Barn (many years ago and now discontinued) remind me of the birds I watch from my kitchen window during the winter season. The Grace Teaware set adds more blue and white to the Spode ‘Blue Room’ dinner plates. Sweet treats were placed on a stack of Bordallo Pinheiro plates! A darling Hummel ‘Icy Adventure’ depicts a scene of an outdoor frozen pond with a pair of sweet ice skaters, a rosy cheeked boy and girl who have fallen down on the ice.
