Happy Monday sweet friends! I hope you all enjoyed the first weekend of August!
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
Ephesians 4:32 (ESV)
After days and days of relentless heat, we finally have a bit of reprieve! Highs in the mid to upper 70’s will feel like a cold front! Alas, August can be one of our hottest in the South!
I look forward to the first Monday of each month as I join Mary and Lidy for Monday Morning Blooms and a lovely dose of flower therapy!
We are excited to welcome our special guest, Shannon from Belle Bleu Interiors. You will find the links for Mary, Lidy, and Shannon at the bottom of this post!
Sunflowers are a wonderful way to transition from summer into autumn! I love their large, happy, and sunny faces…they make me smile!
My RM foraged our woodlands and fields for wildflowers! He always finds something new that I haven’t seen before. Hairy Sunflower (small sunflower) and Thoroughwort (small clusters of white blooms) were added for interest!
An often used pitcher, ‘Baroque’ by American Atelier, was used to highlight the sunflowers!
I kept the table setting simple with ‘Baroque’ dinner plates and ‘Buttercup’ salad plates by Copeland Spode. I found the salad plates a few years ago while visiting Highlands, NC. I think I have only shown them once on a table, but I do love the scalloped plate and its delicate pattern! Flatware is tortoise from Horchow and it appears it is no longer available. Amber stemware was from a local department store that unfortunately is now closed!
I am very sentimental about the crocheted napkin rings. They were made by a sweet lady who was a dear friend of my Mother!
The beautiful patchwork quilt top was pieced by my mother at least fifty years ago. I was recently going through my linen closet and rediscovered this treasured keepsake. I thought it was perfect for the sunflower arrangement!
Like a violin’s moving sweetness in a love song, sunflowers are nature’s strings in summer’s symphony of color.

The photos don’t tell the real story of the stress on our garden. The month of July offered hardly any rain, temperatures in the middle to upper 90’s, and a daily heat index of triple digits. Not only is the garden stressed, but the two gardeners are also feeling the stress!
Late afternoon dappled sunlight casts lovely light and shadows across the garden!
This photo shows how tall the Giant Marigolds are! If you missed last week’s garden post you can see it here!

Good morning Pam, I swooned when I saw your teaser photo with those gorgeous sunflowers! Your mother’s patchwork quilt top is a treasure and a beautiful foundation for your table with sunflowers! I love your pretty Copeland Spode plates paired with your table topper too.
What a beautiful bouquet with your glorious garden backdrop of marigolds and hydrangeas. Your pictures don’t show signs of July’s heat…your garden looks so inviting! We’re looking forward to cooler temperatures this week too and chances of rain, after a very hot and dry July.
As always, it’s a treat to join you for some flower therapy. Happy Monday ♥
Thank you, Mary. Our day started out in the 50’s. We even had a fire last night. It has been refreshing!
I love your mama’s tabletop!!
Thank you so much, Ruthie!
When I was 11 and a bridesmaid for my cousin, her wedding china was Spode Buttercup. I remember going to their basement where the gifts were on display and thinking it was one of the prettiest patterns I’d ever seen. (Remember, I was only 11 — I had seen Fostoria Apple and His Majesty turkey plates, along with a Wedgewood pattern of my mom’s!) When I visited a few years ago, they were still using it and I still loved it. It’s lovely with your patchwork and sunflowers.
Jeanie, when I was little I used to love to go with my mother to see the display of all the brides’ wedding gifts, especially the china and crystal. It was always quite the occasion. It’s too bad that tradition has died. Maybe that’s where we all got our love of beautiful things. Always enjoy reading your comments…Roxanne
Roxanne, I always loved to see the display of the bride’s wedding gifts. So many wonderful traditions passed away!
Thank you, Jeanie! I loved it when gifts were displayed at the bride’s home! I also love the Buttercup pattern!
Absolutely stunning, Pam! I love your sunflower arrangement’s colors, and the colors on your patchwork tablecloth.
Thank you, Ricki Jill for your sweet comments! I was thrilled to rediscover the patchwork tablecloth!
Beautiful. Sunflowers are so cheerful along with your beautiful patchwork tablecloth. Have a great Monday. Hugs. Kris
Thanks so much, Kris! Happy week to you!
Nothing is happier than a pitcher full of sunflowers! And how canyou look at that and not smile? Your mother’s quilt is the perfect accompaniment. One of my dear younger friends from church recently made a huge investment in a long arm for finishing quilts. Anybody out there who quilts, she owns the Pendleton Cottage (she also teaches 5th grade and piano, I don’t think she sleeps!). It is pouring rain and gloriously cool here, and I’m enjoying every second. Hope you are some place fabulous!
Thank you, Roxanne! I agree a pitcher of sunflowers is happiness! I have a friend who has a long arm. Your friend is busy, but doing what she loves!
Good morning, Pam! Your sunflower arrangement in the white stoneware pitcher is gorgeous! There is just something so happy and cheerful about sunflowers. I cannot believe how tall those marigolds are! That is amazing! They are beautiful, and by the photos you could never tell that your flowers were stressed. Our gardens are stressed too, but we also had a little reprieve with temps in the 70s last week. That is unheard of in August. However, we are starting to heat up again this week. Your table setting is lovely with your mother’s patchwork quilt and the treasured crocheted napkin rings. The Spode Buttercup plates are so pretty. It has been such a joy to join my flower loving friends today for some much needed flower therapy. Enjoy your day and week ahead, dear friend!
Thank you, Shannon. We always love for you to join us for flower therapy!
Oh Pam, you know how much I love your sentimental pieces and I gasped when I saw the patchwork tablecloth that your beloved mother made. It’s absolutely perfect for your table with the cheery sunflower centerpiece and your pretty plates. Aren’t those crocheted napkin rings the sweetest ever?? Your garden setting is such a heavenly creation and your marigolds…I didn’t know they could grow so tall! Thank you for sharing the beauty with us. 🌻
Thank you, Kitty. I love using anything with a memory attached! It makes everyday more special 🌻
What a lovely table and floral arrangement, Pam. Your Butch is a true romantic with his poetic words and actions. His picks added to the garden blooms make for a really nice summer bouquet. The quilt and napkin rings are sweet sentimental touches. Strange as it is, our July saw a LOT of rain, but still the triple digit heat index (and humidity, gah!) most of the days. And I think all gardens start to feel a bit of the stress this time of summer. My grass is looking stressed, but most plants are doing okay. Isn’t it wonderful we have all four seasons? Those 70 degree days are nice previews of what’s to come.
Happy Monday Morning Blooms day!
Rita, Butch is a true romantic. He gets great joy helping me in whatever I am doing! I always enjoy your visits, Rita!
Pam, Your Mom’s quilt is simply gorgeous! I know you were thrilled to rediscover it. It pairs so well with your beautiful floral arrangement and dishes. We’re hoping you have gotten some relief from the insanely hot weather! Take care. Clara❤️
Thank you, Clara. I just knew I would love the patchwork with the sunflowers. We are out of town and the morning started out in the 50’s. It is refreshing after our July heat wave!
Pam, your outdoor tablescape and floral arrangement + stunning. Your pics are absolutely gorgeous!!!
Michele you are so sweet…Thank you!
Good Evening, Pam. Your sunflowers are the center of attention on your happy tablescape. The addition of your Mother’s patchwork quilt brings another smile to my face. Your Copeland Spode plates are yet another highlight. I love seeing your marigolds in the background. They have been a wonderful complement to your garden.
Enjoy the reprieve from the heat! It is terrific, this I know!
Happy new week to you!
Thank you, Nancy! I love sunflowers happy faces, they make me smile! As always, thank you for your sweet comments! Enjoy your week 🌻
Beautiful! Give me Sunflowers anytime, they make me happy 😊
I am glad, Nancy! They just make me smile 🌻
Pam, those sunflowers are indeed happy flowers and they are perfect on your precious patchwork quilt. The Spode Buttercup salad plates are so pretty and I love how the amber goblets and tortoiseshell flatware play off each other. The crocheted napkin rings are so sweet and what a wonderful memory of your mother and her friend. I’m sorry for your heat but I’m so glad that you got a little reprieve. Fall will be here before we know it! Happy Monday Morning Blooms!
Thank you, Kim! Yes the seasons change quickly and fall will arrive so quickly! Wishing you a wonderful week!
Your sunflowers have cheered my morning.

Thank you, Amalia. That makes me happy!
Yes, it has been a really hot summer but your garden certainly doesn’t look stressed Pam! It all looks beautiful! I love sunflowers too, and they are so perfect as we transition to Fall. Your table is so special with your mother’s handmade quilt and those incredible crocheted napkin rings. Lovely table and hopefully it will cool off and you can enjoy al Fresco dining!
Thank you, Jenna. I love alfresco dining in autumn! Before we turn around it will be here. I hope your week is going well🌻
Oh yes please! A big ol’ pitcher of sunflowers perched on a lovely quilt is the most welcome table setting ever! Warm and home-spun and elegant and welcoming.
Love it, Pam!
Thank you, Linda!
Pam, how special to have your mother’s quilt. It makes for a beautiful table covering. Love your bouquet of sun flowers, so cheerful and happy. Your flowers always look so perfect, even in this heat. The table is so pretty with the Spode dishware. The crocheted napkins rings are also a treasure. Love seeing your garden backdrop. Happy August.
Linda, thanks so much for your sweet comments! I always love to have something on the table that has a memory attached! Happy August!
Oh, Pam. The sunflowers with your Momma’s patchwork quilt is one of my favorites ever (how do I choose?). The crocheted rings by your Mom’s friend also had my heart. Last Saturday my twin and a friend took me to Laura Ingalls Wilder’s home. I wore my yellow/beige bonnet and admired the flowers in the field. I’m a very old soul and have been a fan of patchwork anything ever since I was a little girl!
Wasn’t it nice to have the cooler weather? You and Butch held in there with the heat and still…your beautiful homestead displays the love and care you give it! Which gives us ALL joy!
I love BOTH of your quotes SO much!
God bless you, Pam. It’s starting to get hot again here. I have my little scooter and a car carrier so Finn and I can get out. I’m not overdoing it, though, too. I love you and pray for you and yours every day!
As always, Karla I appreciate your visit. I am so glad you were dressed in your bonnet to visit Laura Ingalls Wilder’s home. I know you enjoyed the flowers. Please don’t go wild on that scooter🤣 Take care, my friend! Prayers and love always 🙏🏻❤️🌻
Pam, what a beautiful and wonderful table, set in your August garden. Your quilt is such a gorgeous touch…everything about your table is just perfect!
xo Lidy
Thank you, Lidy. Take care of yourself!
Such a bright, inviting & happy setting sweet friend.
I’ve not used a patchwork quilt for a table setting but it’s a great idea.
Blessings, Jennifer 😊
Thank you, Jennifer! Blessings, Pam
Iced tea is the perfect drink in your triple temp days. The pieced together quilt table cloth looks much like one my mother made. It is a perfect backdrop for the sunflower arrangement. The picture of the sunshine cottage with the huge zinnias in the background is my favorite and I see someone opened up the window to let in (or out) fresh air. We are having triple temps this weeks and my flowers are long gone. We are a mile closer to the sun here and the old sun has done them in as well as myself😉
Thank you, Alice. Yes, we are drinking plenty of ice tea. Be careful, stay indoors and stay cool!
LOVE everything about this post – you knew I would!!!!!🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
Thanks so much, Mary 🌻🌻🌻
Just love the sunny prospect of your table setting and your beloved Mother’s
quilt is the perfect foundation. One would never guess the intensity of the heat
viewing your photos. You must have been all sixes and sevens keeping everything
sprayed down and protected. Just love those Spode plates… a scalloped edge is
always such a special feature. Keep cool and thank you for the effort in sharing
such a relaxed scene…….
Thank you, Mary! I don’t do hot as well as I used to, could it be age?! Blessings, my friend!
Linda
Oh, you are so right! That beautiful quilt pairs so nicely with the sunflowers!
Thank you, Cheryl!
