Hello dear friends! I hope everyone had an amazing weekend as we celebrated America’s 250th birthday!
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
It is Monday Morning Blooms with my flower friends, Mary and Lidy.
For the July edition of Monday Morning Blooms we welcome Sarah from Hyacinths For the Soul as our special guest!
You will find the links for Mary, Lidy, and Sarah at the bottom of my post.
“Sweet contentment is found in setting a garden table on a late afternoon as the sun begins its journey to meet the horizon and the air begins to cool. The symphony of birdsong fills the air and the sweet fragrance of gardenia is carried on a gentle breeze.”
~ Pam Richardson
I braved the extreme heat and triple digit heat index with frequent rests in the comfort of our air conditioned Sunshine Cottage and lots of iced tea! It was so hot that the birds refused to use their energy singing and the air still hasn’t cooled!
Vintage aqua Ball jars make arranging flowers easy. I cut zinnias and giant marigolds for the outer jars. Pink Diamond hydrangeas, gladiolus, chaste blooms, and a happy sunflower fill the middle jar.
The floral tablecloth is April Cornell’s ‘Dahlia Days’. As long-time readers know, I love mixing color and patterns.
Behind the Adagio maiden grass is our very tall sunflowers. We have yet to figure out why they are so tall this year. We ordered the same seed as always!
Tracy Porter’s hand-painted ‘Artesian Road’ dinner plates and salad plates were purchased in 2003 when the pattern was first introduced. It was discontinued in 2012. I have 8-4 piece place settings plus several serving pieces. The plates have a unique bamboo border. Tracy is known for her vibrant, whimsical, and bohemian-style, at one time she even designed clothes that I loved and purchased.
Reversible floral and stripe quilted placemats and matching napkins show my love for placing contrasting pattern upon pattern!
Aqua stemware is almost the exact color as the jars.
Most of my tables have a memory attached. The bronze-colored metal dragonfly napkins rings were a birthday gift from my son when he was in college. He did very well in choosing these, they are often put into service.
Acrylic tortoise flatware adds more pattern play!
“July is a blind date with summer.”
~Hal Borland
Giant yellow marigolds occupy the corner of the garden fence and their large blooms remind me of dahlias. They are entirely different than the smaller garden center variety.
The Sunshine Cottage garden provides the table with a background of colorful flowers…zinnias, spirea, giant marigolds, coneflowers, sedum, potted annuals and herbs.
You are invited to join Mary, Lidy, and Sarah for their beautiful flower creations!

Pam, your vintage Mason jars filled with fresh garden flowers are the perfect expression of summer! I always love how you gather blooms straight from your garden and let their natural beauty shine. The mix of colors and textures is so cheerful, and those vintage jars add just the right touch of charm. I also enjoyed seeing your lovely table…it feels so inviting and effortlessly elegant, just the kind of place where I’d love to linger over a glass of iced tea and good conversation. I’m especially happy to see your garden flourishing after the rain you’ve received. Ours is still struggling through the drought here in North Carolina, so your gorgeous flowers are a welcome dose of floral therapy! As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and share blooms with you. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead and stay cool! ☀️🩵
Lovely flowers, and I do love vintage Mason jars. The blue ones are really special. All your tablescapes are wonderful, summer beauties.
Summertime in a Jar! I love using my Mom’s old mason jars for flower bouquets.
I enjoyed seeing your contrasting patterns on your table. Your glassware sure does match the color of your vintage blue mason jars. How beautiful that is. The giant marigolds are so pretty and so are your other flowers. The combination of all 3 garden bouquets add such beauty to your table. Thanks for the Monday Inspiration!
I love this Color in your garden. The jars make for. the perfect containers for your flower arrangements. 95 degree temperatures
Here would have flowers drooping. Yours look so inviting and cool. It will be 95 again today. Air conditioning and inside is where i’ll be for sure. The sunshine cottage has everything needed to take a break from the heat. What a pretty place to be. RM has made a piece of heaven right in th middle of Alabama.
Pam, this setting is summer perfection! I always feel a special sense of calm and comfort when I virtually sit in your garden spaces. The thought of looking out to beautiful blooming beds takes me back to my youth and my Mother’s prolific gardens. I’ve a few zinnias blooming, and am reminded to plant more. I adore your layers of patterns on the table. Quilted placemats are some of my favorites, and the colors of your linens are fabulous. Years ago, I came upon a set of this Tracy Porter pattern at Goodwill of all places. I love the deep colors and the bamboo borders. You’ve inspired me to pull it out and set a table! I have the blue mason jars too! Thank you for including me this month. It’s always an honor to join you and Mary and Lidy. Happy Summer!
Hello Sweet Pam! I adore blue mason jars, even empty they make me happy! That is quite a feat to set a cool, tranquil table in triple digits! I came out with my binoculars the other day, and the condensation from AC to boiling heat was terrible. It is quite pleasant wth lower humidity this morning, and I hope your day is starting the same way!
Yes, the 250th Celebration was spectacular! Your zinnia bouquets seem to reflect the bright fireworks that went on and on and . . . wow. There’s a local flower farmer who brings mason jars full of summer blooms to my mother’s assisted living facility and the residents absolutely love them! Such a lovely act of spreading joy!
Such a lovely table, Pam. I love the April Cornell cloth, the Tracy Porter dishes, and the pretty flatware. The Mason jars of garden flowers are the perfect summer accompaniment. I’m ready to sit down and share some tea and conversation.
Pam how refreshing is your table this warm summer morning. As I sip my hot tea in my courtyard, I am looking intently at every detail of your lovely table and garden. I am always envious of the abundance of flowers in your planned garden spots because they look so relaxed and perfectly suited to that particular part of your garden. The pairing of AC tablecloth and Tracy Porter dinnerware is spot on. Many might find the mixing of patterns confusing to the eye (but I think that is simply old school) as I, like you find mixing color and patterns quite pleasant and soothing. I love your quote…RM has nothing on you. 🥰 Using your pretty blue mason jars reminds me of my grandmother,🥰 so great your aqua stemmed water glasses match so perfectly. Of course I looked for your memory piece and found it in the metal butterfly napkin rings from Seth! In spite of the heat, your table of flowers galore appears very cool. Thank you for letting me chase my memories this beautiful Lord’s Day. Hugs always my dear friend.
Pam, your summertime table is lovely with your beloved AC tablecloth, vintage blue mason jars and striking glasses to match. The individual jars filled with colorful 🌺 flowers are stunning. The Tracy Porter dishware are so lovely and colorful. I always enjoy the colors, textures, and beauty of mixing patterns. Happy summer.
