Happy November my friends! I look forward to the fourth Thursday of November when we celebrate one of my favorite holidays…Thanksgiving!

Welcome to the Sunshine Cottage as we enjoy a cozy Thanksgiving Eve for two!
It is Monday Morning Blooms with my dear friend, Lidy. Our common theme for this month’s edition is Thanksgiving. You will find Lidy’s link at the bottom of this post.
If you are like me, Thanksgiving week is always busy as I prepare for the big day, shopping, prepping, baking, and setting the dining room table. For many years Thanksgiving Eve would find Butch and me eating a turkey sandwich at the kitchen island. Three years ago I decided to make the eve before Thanksgiving memorable by setting a pretty table for two in the Sunshine Cottage! With the ambiance of twinkling lights from the autumn tree, a simple turkey sandwich can be elevated to something special! And yes, even romantic!
“Reflect upon your present blessings—of which every man has many—not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.”
~Charles Spurgeon
April Cornell ‘Meridian’ linens are a lovely autumn foundation for burlap placemats, ‘Baroque’ dinner plates by American Atelier, Royal Stafford turkey salad plates, and copper flatware.
What would Thanksgiving be without turkey?
Fall is my favorite season, so why not celebrate with a tree?! We have a large population of turkeys that frequent our pastures. We often find their feathers which make an ideal tree topper. Dried okra and cotton bolls add more of nature’s gifts to the tree. After Thanksgiving I will remove all of the fall decor and decorate the tree and the cottage for Christmas…truly the most wonderful time of the year!
Stemware was found years ago at Tuesday Morning. I always found plenty of things that I didn’t need from their brick and mortar store.
I have mentioned many times that I am collector, but I finally think I have broken the habit. One such collection that grew large a few decades ago were Hummels, which at the time were highly collectible. They fell out of favor, but have recently become popular. Most of you know that we are a musical family and this little trio of Hummels represent our love for music!
Butch is a songwriter, plays guitar and sings (he sounds like John Denver), I play piano and sing, and our son plays guitar, mandolin, pedal steel guitar and sings. My sweet Daddy passed along his love of music to me. Butch’s mother had a beautiful voice and passed her love of music to him. Seth grew up with daily exposure music. There is never a day that music doesn’t fill our home!
Autumn’s sunlight and shadows dance across the table!

Garden flowers were mixed with grocery store flowers for an autumn arrangement which I placed in a hammered copper pitcher. Our fall weather has been unseasonably warm so the garden is still producing zinnias. Large rusty-red and petite gold tipped mums, with peach-colored alstroemeria were chosen for their autumnal colors. Pheasant feathers were added for texture, plus I happen to be a
fan of feathers! You have a special invitation to visit Lidy for her beautiful floral inspiration!

I didn’t get around to sharing photos of the Sunshine Cottage porch and garden this season. It doesn’t change much from year to year! As long as the grandchildren enjoy, we will continue the tradition!
I will be joining 13 creative table stylists for a Thanksgiving Tablescape Blog Hop tomorrow. I hope you will join us!
Thank you for your visit and gracious comments. Wishing you a joy-filled week!

Your table for two is lovely! I can’t believe we’re into November already and that the weather is still so warm. The linens pair so well with turkey plates. You know I love those drinking glasses. Tuesday Morning always had unique items and I really miss shopping there. The hammered pitcher of fall flowers along with the little Hummel figurines and pretty pumpkins make a wonderful centerpiece. The fall tree in the background is perfect and inviting! The front porch is pretty with all the fall pumpkins and scarecrows. Enjoy your day. Clara ❤️
As always, a charming tablescape, beautiful quotes and verses, lovely, well-taken pictures and a sweet visit with you! Thank you.
I love brass with the theme and yes, definitely feathers add a “just-right-touch”.
You are truly so talented, Pam, very fortunate to have such beauty and family around you and I must say, you have a lot of energy (and storage space-lol)
A turkey sandwich sounds good and your energy is amazing. You indeed have a musical family. How are the piano lessons going with EK? Hope Seth has passed on to the grands some of his musical gifts. Living in the country gives you an abundance of things to use in decorating, turkey feathers for sure. When I went to SD with my husband I could usually find turkey and pheasant feathers. I still have and use pheasant feathers in the Christmas tree. There was a large gathering of turkeys there. Your table in the sunshine cottage speaks Thanksgiving. The Hummel figurines brings back memories. I loved them and many people bought different ones to honor someone in their family. Your post today brings back many memories.
Your Monday morning blooms are beautiful and how sweet you set a special table for you and Butch to sit, relax and have a quiet dinner together. I start my Christmas Decor early since my daughter hosts Thanksgiving. I just love the twinkle of the lights. Everything comes and goes so quickly for Thanksgiving and Christmas so I enjoy getting a jump on Christmas. Have a beautiful new week Pam. Hugs Kris
Oh Pam…congratulations on ‘breaking the habit’…I think I am there but not quite ready to say it out loud (if you know what I mean)…I truly have no spare room. I love the Sunshine Cottage and what a delight the grands love it too, so decorating it is a joy and a way to keep them close. I also love decorating with pheasant and turkey feathers, they remind me of Kansas and the Milo Fields in the Fall. Your copper pitcher is a perfect centerpiece drawing the elements of your ‘turkey sandwich’ table for two together. What a great new tradition you have made over the last three years…yes, I am a romantic too and I think that is what keeps us ‘young at heart’. Looking forward to ‘hopping’ with you tomorrow. hugs, blessings and much love.🍁🦃🍂🙏🏻💕
Such a lovely table, favorite scripture, and quotes Pam! Your thoughtfulness is always heartwarming. The background of green in the AC tablecloth is so pretty for this time of year. Your sweet little Hummels touch my heart, and of course their story. The copper pitcher is a stunning one for your fall flowers and collected feathers joining your table…perfect table for two. I am reminded to remember to make some special and greatful moments during this busy time of the year…
🧡
Pam, what a blessing it is this November morning to visit you and see your beautiful table set for a Thanksgiving eve dinner with your Renaissance man. Your beautiful AC tablecloth is the perfect base for your burlap mats, and your Royal Stafford turkey plates.( love those!) I still miss Tuesday Morning, I’m trying to break my collecting habit for glasses and plates…if it doesn’t fit into my large French armoire I don’t buy it…( strangely, I can sometimes still squash a few new things in there!) or I give something away to a young wife who loves the gift of plates to start her own collection.
Your copper is lovely, and the flower colors speak my love language of everything autumn. Thank you for sharing another warm and inviting peek into your Sunshine Cottage, dear friend. 🍂🦃Wishing you a very blessed November – Xo Lidy
A beautiful and cozy table settting, Pam. That stemware remains a favorite for me, and the AC table linens are really pretty. I love all the musical talent you share among you! The autumn tree and bouquet really set the beautiful mood, and gives Thanksgicing the moments it deserves.
This is beautiful! Incorporating your family’s passion for music into the Thanksgiving table is such a lovely, heartfelt idea. It truly shows how much love and thought you put into welcoming your family and everyone this season. Thank you, Pam for sharing your stunning table with me!
Pam, I’m busy packing up all my Halloween today, but taking a break to relax with this beautiful post. Tables for two! Ever since COVID, I kept a table for two set for Monnie and me. It was something joyful ti remind us that we had each other, we were together in our home. Our last Thanksgiving together, as we sat side by side at dinner that night, Monnie looked at me and said, ” This is the best Thanksgiving we’ve had!” Never knowing it would be our last one together. So your beautifully set Thanksgiving Table for Two, sparked beautiful memories for me. Thank you! Your property and the Sunshine Cottage always delight my senses. I smile thinking about how fortunate your grands are to have you and Butch close at hand and in their lives each day. Happy Thanksgiving! I look forward to your table tomorrow.
