June Gardening In The South

~ Appalachian Foothills, Gardening, Summer

Hello sweet friends and Happy Tuesday! For the past two days it has hit 100 degrees and today promises the same. Add breezes, and no rain for a few weeks, and gardening is challenging right now in our Appalachian Foothills!!

Ordinarily, I would invite you to lace up your shoes and take a walk with me in the garden. However, pour yourself a tall glass of iced tea or lemonade and stay inside with the air conditioner!

Zinnias are blooming in three of our different garden spaces! Zinnias are one of our favorites, but unfortunately the Japanese beetles are loving them too! Another challenge!READ MORE

Happy Tuesday dear friends! Even though summer has not officially arrived, but with temperatures in the high 80’s and low 90’s, it definitely feels like summer!

Low clouds and fog lingered one morning but finally gave way to clearing and sunshine. It turned out to be a nice spring day here in our Appalachian foothills. The old dead tree is the result of too much water, flooding provided by beavers. About half the time I pass here, there’s a hawk sitting on top of the tallest limb. Not this day.
