 ‭‭It is time for another installment of our “designer series”!  I always enjoy putting these posts together because they show the talent and style of such great designers!  Today I want to introduce you to Sarah Bartholomew! Sarah grew up in Virginia and was influenced by the classical architecture that surrounded her, especially by Thomas Jefferson….as you will soon see!  She has an approachable design aesthetic that can be described as timeless, simple, classic, and all American. I, personally love her work and style…and I think you will too!

I love Sarah’s mix of pattern in her own home.  The batik-style wallpaper and the leopard print runner in the entry says that this designer is not afraid of mixing it up!

The Long Awaited Pergola

Raise your hand if you have a list of projects that have been on the to-do list for a while, but haven’t been done!  Both of my hands are raised!  I have the greatest of intentions, but somehow these projects get pushed aside and we just don’t always get around to them.  Life just gets busy!

You may remember in June of last year, we completely transformed our backyard into a garden area that we love and had new tile installed for our patio.  We knew we wanted a pergola to be built over the patio, but it didn’t take priority and got placed on the back burner!

But in June of this year, it was time to check this off of our list!  I found inspiration for The Perfect Pergola and it was time to get the ball rolling!  Finally, the second week of September columns went up and our pergola project was underway…it was started and finished within a couple of days!  We are very pleased with how it turned out…and what better weather than autumn to begin enjoying it?!  I haven’t had the time to finish the decorating process, but I could hardly wait to share it with you, my readers…the long awaited pergola!

The Charlotte Inn – Romantic Dining & Enchanting Gardens

Have you ever traveled somewhere and returned home, only to keep thinking of your experience?  The Charlotte Inn of Martha’s Vineyard is truly a treasure and a feast for all the senses, as you all know from our tour of the interiors on Monday!  Everything was perfection from the food to the garden space…and today I am taking you through the dining room and into those lovely gardens!  Trust me when I say there is so much more to take in than what meets the camera lens!

 
The Terrace is by far one of the most beautiful and romantic dining rooms I have ever seen.  It is considered by many to be the most beautiful in the Northeast.

It is an enclosed terrace filled with light. Tables are set with crisp white linens, delicate Limoges china, and silver vases of fresh flowers. Butch and I claimed the table between the two windows for breakfast and dinner.
