“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word…”
Ephesians 5:25-26
Do you ever feel like you need a time out, a respite from busyness and the stress of everyday living? Any given Saturday around our house usually consists of a homemade breakfast followed by Butch working in the yard while I am inside cleaning and cooking. Although we are both at home, we are both busy and doing work around the house. But not this past Saturday…I needed a change of pace! We got up early and drove sixty miles to Birmingham for the Pepper Place Market. The farmers’ market is held each Saturday from mid April through mid December on the south side of Birmingham! We certainly enjoyed shopping the market, but that was not really the point. In all of our years of marriage, we have learned that sometimes it is necessary to step away from the mundane and just enjoy each other. I needed to hear him speak truth into my life and heart, like no one else can! I am thankful that Butch’s love for the Lord overflows onto me and I have a daily example of God’s good design for marriage…to mirror his love for his church.
Heirloom tomatoes and beautiful carrots! We love our okra in the South! An array of colorful vegetables! Beets are one of the few foods that I am having to acquire a taste! Locally grown mushrooms! Delicious chocolate croissant! Fresh baked baguettes! Stone Hollow Farms with a tasting of their excellent goat cheese! More Alabama grown mushrooms! Squash is one of my favorite summertime veggies! These rather large and plump blackberries will make a fabulous cobbler! Chilton County, Alabama is known for their peaches! I am thinking home-made peach ice cream! Such a fun place to spend a Saturday morning! I bought trailing rosemary, fern-leaf lavender, and ornamental pepper plants! Wow, just look at these happy flowers! Love that these are from a teaching farm! Jones Valley is a hands-on food education that partners with schools! Butch bought a couple of day lily varieties for our garden! Interesting pottery… …and jewelry! We ended the morning with a little outlet shopping!
“Join hands with the Father and hearts with His Son,
The more you draw near to Him, the closer He will come”
