It is just past mid-winter if you are like me and prefer to use the meteorological dates for the seasons. But either way January can sometimes force us inside. But, I happened to notice that all of today’s scenes are outdoors! Apparently last week was nice outside!

The days are noticeably longer as the earth’s tilt allows the sun to be slightly more direct each day now. I’m just very partial to some sunshine on my shoulders!

Winter’s dormancy and cold days can make it difficult to roam the outdoors and capture pics. Numerous colorful scenes tend to be around every corner in the other seasons. However, winter has its own true beauty and you can always count on the changing weather to provide something of interest. After all, no two days are ever exactly alike!

Early morning fog rolls in as a new day begins. The river is about 200 yards beyond the trees and recent clearing we’ve accomplished has opened up the view to the adjoining pasture. It is above freezing here but that was not the case on another foggy day! 

Freezing fog creates a beautiful landscape with the ice crystals being very different from snow, sleet, or freezing rain!READ MORE

At a glance, winter might seem lifeless, but a lot is going on sort of “behind the scenes” which can be detected with a closer examination.

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

A very unique and almost eerie winter sun peeping through the fog one morning last week. 

Spiders are always at work, even in the “off season.” A close look reveals their webs. But with even a closer exam you will discover a bird in the pic. Anybody spot it?  We would have a “find the bird” contest but our prize warehouse is empty.READ MORE
