To me, this little chapel with its showy lights is symbolic and a reminder of the true Light of the world!

The nutcracker stands guard over the Sunshine Cottage tree. When I was growing up, we always went to the woods nearby and cut a cedar tree for Christmas. It took a lot of walking in the woods to find one that was the right size and shape. I would be on the lookout year round for a tree that might be a good prospect come December. We create new memories each day as Christmas approaches, but there is something about this time of year that also stirs us to reflect and remember even more than we usually do. With this in mind, we decided to include a mix of the old and the new for today’s Simple + Southern Sunday!

Speaking of light, Noccalula Falls Park, near our home,  is an awesome place to visit anytime but especially around Christmas.

A peaceful sunrise and a calm morning welcomes December!

Many of you have never heard of Alfred Hitchcock or the 1963 film, “The Birds”. In the horror movie, groups of birds randomly attacked people. I paused momentarily here and wondered what it would feel like if all these decided to converge on me at once. I read that a trainer actually trained large groups of birds in order to capture some scenes! Thankfully, my group of  birds had only bedding down for the night on their minds.
