“The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing”
Psalm 145: 15-16
Autumn offers the tastiest of foods: butternut squash, baked apples, hearty soups, and all things pumpkin! Our palates are revived as our menus change! But here at our house, one thing that stays the same is our love for eating outdoors! As long as the skies are blue and the seats are dry, you will more than likely find us on the patio or in the garden at mealtime! So come on, pull up a chair and have a taste of autumn!
I love everything about autumn…its tastes, colors, and overall beauty. The tablescape incorporates the many colors of fall! We have two outdoor dining options – a small table for four in the garden, and our table for six on the patio. The three-wheel bicycle in the background is holding a yellow mum that is about to burst out in bloom! The table is set with two different dinner plates…the unexpected is so much fun! Be creative as you set a table, it is more interesting when everything doesn’t match! Shop thrift stores for mis-matched dishes and glasses! You don’t have to spend a fortune! Textures and colors make for a warm and rustic setting! Menu cards are always a hit with guests and are an easy DIY! The tablecloth is an Italian-made cotton and its lively fruit pattern was my inspiration for the alfresco setting! Grapevine wreaths served as rustic chargers. The wood slice adds more warmth and texture as the foundation for the centerpiece! Two hurricane candle holders filled with coffee beans help to make up the centerpiece along with colorful gourds! The stemware of peridot, amethyst, and amber fit perfectly in this autumnal setting! My eye has always been attracted to color – the beauty of creation always inspires me! Late afternoon sunlight casts shadows and light over our freshly cut pasture!
The rattan vase holds preserved willow. I have a photo bomber in the garden, do you see him? As you can see, I am a fan of mixing patterns…plaid napkins and faux tortoise handled flatware on a background of the large fruit patterned cloth! Thank you for visiting our “taste of autumn” on our patio. Please drop by often, we will save a place for you!
