“The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens; by his knowledge the deeps broke open,
and the clouds drop down the dew.”
Proverbs 3:19-20
I can only think of two words that adequately describe the weather here in the deep south lately: sweltering heat. With daily temperatures in the upper 90’s and very little rain, I have found myself indoors most of the day. But, by 7 p.m., it cools just enough to enjoy eating in our garden! As you know by now, we find it hard to eat dinner inside with our love for the outdoors! Come on, take a seat…we invite you to have dinner with us on this mid-summer evening! And yes, we will provide the bug spray!
We have a new umbrella with matching pillows for our eating space! The mossy green umbrella is now shading the patio table!
Setting a round table with an umbrella requires little time compared to our dining room table! Plus the beauty of the outdoors is the centerpiece!
The inspiration for the tablescape is the fun placemats. I pulled colors from the wooden embellishments!
The dinner plate with its fruit pattern and cabbage salad plate work well with the placemat! Yellow napkins add more color!
Aqua stemware and votive candles!
With the umbrella in place, the centerpiece does not require much preparation! Our sunflower patch is providing beautiful blooms!
Limelight hydrangeas provide the backdrop!
God’s beauty never ceases to amaze me. The detail that He has created is beyond words!

As the sun begins to set and the light starts to fade, the garden has a sweet ambiance!
The big brown truck delivered the umbrella on Monday. When Butch got home from the office, he unpacked and set it up. He was proud of himself because he had selected it and it was on sale! Tuesday night, we had a storm with very high winds! The umbrella was down, but with 50+ mph winds, we figured it didn’t stand much chance of survival! After the storm, with flashlight in hand, Butch goes out to survey the damage. The wind had blown the table on top of a chair with the umbrella still in place, which remarkably had protected it! Whew…close call!!
The table is cleared and we enjoy time together reflecting on God’s goodness!
The sky turned a shade of pink at sunset!
“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver”
