Tablescape Tuesday: A Walk On The Wild Side!

The past week has been a mixed bag of weather…snow, rain, freezing rain, and sleet! So what do you say… let’s escape to an exotic and faraway land for a safari!! Oh well, it sounded like a good idea. We will have to settle for an escape via our Tablescape Tuesday. Welcome to the wild side!

This tablescape did not start out this way in my mind. It was not going to be themed, but rather an elegant black, gold, and cream setting. You might say it evolved into this as I started adding “stuff”! Love spontaneity!

It definitely lends itself to a little “wild”!

The centerpiece is a leather zebra tray that you first saw here: Coffee Table Talk. I then searched my collection for what I would add! Always “shopping my house!”

The Fitz and Floyd cheetah holds a collection of feathers. The lidded box usually sits in a guest bedroom and the elephant candle holder has a twin somewhere in my house!

I like the collected elements in the tray!

The zebra placemats serve as the foundation for gold chargers, cream dinner plates, and initialed salad/appetizer plates. Amber stemware and tortoise flatware, along with porcelain place cards completes the place setting!

I think we could all learn a little something from this tablescape. It is fun and doesn’t take itself too serious!

I saw bow tie napkin rings in a shop in Raleigh and I just fell for them! That was until I saw the price-$24 each. I took a picture and showed to my sweet friend, Joann…and just look how lovely! Joann was my craft artisan for Seth’s and Allison’s wedding!

Katy found the vintage salt and pepper set at Gadsden Variety Antique Mall, owned by our friends, Mike and Sandy!

Hand carved bone box from India with a porcelain elephant that was a gift to Seth while a student at the University of Alabama (Roll Tide)!

This just might be the easiest and quickest tablescape ever!

I have always liked the safari/jungle theme and I didn’t purchase anything new…had everything you see in this setting!

I always keep a stash of feathers-love their warmth and texture! You can see another tablescape I did with feathers here: Peacocks & Feathers.

The faux sunflower-leopard stems added to our safari theme. They were perfect for the etched amber vases!

The giraffe is a bejeweled box and it stands on my other hand-carved bone box from India!

Hope you all enjoyed our walk on the wild side! So now what shall we have for dinner?!

Tablescape Tuesday: Morning Glories

Today, I am introducing you to what is now known as “The Tablescape Marathon”! I am sharing the first of five different tablescapes (in four different rooms) that we had so much fun putting together while I was at Patti’s! What I love about these tablescapes is that none of them even come close to resembling the next. This one will bring a little color into your life!

This room was the former living room and is now used as an extension for the formal dining room!

The silk tablecloth is a fabulous purchase by Patti on a trip to India. The colors are vibrant and the cloth is reversible to a lovely blue and white pattern!

The Wedgwood Patrician “Morning Glory” pattern has a multicolor floral center and blue trim with an embossed outer rim. It was produced from 1936-1981!

I tried to buy this china from Patti because I absolutely love it! She wouldn’t sell and Butch was thrilled over her decision!

The sterling silver flatware is “Buttercup” by Gorham!

The pale blue angel napkin rings made by Mother were the perfect addition! You first saw them here: It’s A Girl Thing.

The blue of the china is the same as the wall color!

A pair of blue and white ginger jars were made in England and add interest to the setting!

The French-made linen napkins were found in Marigot, the capital of French Saint-Martin where Patti and Mike vacation every year!

A pair of Lenox ruffled edged vases hold lovely yellow roses!

The 3-tier centerpiece contains bowls that match the china and are filled with sweet and savory bites!

The crystal pattern with a platinum rim is “Desire” by Lenox!

It’s Tuesday and you know what that means here at Everyday Living…tablescape!! From the blog’s beginning, I have posted a dining tablescape, but today I digress. You can see my Valentine’s settings here: Love is in the Air! and here: Sweet & Simple.

In an early celebration of Valentine’s, Butch and I went to dinner this past Friday at our favorite restaurant in Birmingham, Bottega. It was a perfect meal and we enjoyed getting away for a few hours! AND to top off an excellent night out, our culinary hero, Mr. Frank Stitt himself actually came to our table! No trip to Birmingham is complete without a stop at Whole Foods for items that we can’t find in our smaller city. While shopping, Butch spotted a great buy on roses…red, white, pink, and yellow-two dozen for $22.99! Now he likes a good deal and I love flowers, so we left the store with two dozen red roses! Win! On Saturday morning, I thought I would arrange and display them in our foyer rather than our dining room. I gathered accessories from different rooms that gave a romantic feel to the space-just in time for Valentine’s Day! I love having a different look to enjoy!!

With the exception of the lamps, the vignette on the foyer chest is completely changed. I love the ornate detail of the gold mirror and it makes the small space more spacious!

The roses are the star feature!

I added a rattan tray for texture. This helps to pull together dissimilar accessories!

I always add books…I have so many! They make a great foundation and they can add height to objects. The colors of the accessories add a romantic touch!

This sweet covered Fitz and Floyd bowl was a gift. The detail is beautiful!

I have a small collection of miniature jeweled boxes. This one adds a little glitz to the vignette!

A majolica plate adds more color. Majolica is a collectible that has soared in price since I found this one in the back of a musty antique shop thirty years ago. Should have bought more!!
