“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law”
Galatians 5:22-23
Celebrating birthdays is a family tradition that began with my Mother. This was always so special because she was a phenomenal cook and knew how to make us feel loved! She would start by making your favorite foods. Then you were allowed to choose your favorite cake, pie, cookie, or cobbler– and that was such a hard choice because they were all so delicious! You would always get your first choice of dessert and most of the time, your second and third favorites, as well! This is a tradition that I have found so much joy in carrying on since her passing. Today’s table celebrates my Daddy’s 84th birthday (hope you read yesterday’s blog). We had a great time Sunday evening with the best Daddy in the world!
Early morning light filtering through the bamboo shades in our dining room
The amber stemware along with the Spode dinner plates are my “go to’s” for the autumn season
An old carnival glass punch bowl found by my friend, Kathy, becomes the centerpiece full of 4 varieties of apples. Carnival glass has a beautiful iridescence!
Tall iron candle stands grace this table setting
The tablecloth was the inspiration, or what I started with, for this tablescape. It is an Italian linen with urns of fruit and Italian phrases around the center.
The placemats are brown faux suede and they anchor each place setting
A new idea for chargers, I used different 8 x 10 picture frames. Love the uniqueness! Seth gave me the dragonfly napkin rings while he was a student at Alabama. They remain one of my favorites!
If you remember, these hand-crafted place card holders appeared in last week’s “Tablescape Tuesday: The Wedding Edition“

Favors of candy corn bark made by Katy for Pawpaw’s celebration!
I will enjoy the simplicity of the carnival glass bowl with apples all week!
Pecan pie, Daddy’s favorite!
Candy Corn Bark
16 oz white chocolate chips
½ cup candy corn
¼ cup pretzel sticks, broken up
1/8 cups chocolate chips
Melt white chocolate chips in double boiler or the microwave until completely smooth. Pour melted chocolate onto non-stick surface (I used wax paper) and use a spatula to spread into a square shape in an even layer (9-10 inches). Drop pretzels, candy corn and chocolate chips and press down gently after all are sprinkled on. Let sit until cool—about 30-45 minutes. Break bark into pieces and enjoy!!
Thank you for taking the time to read about our everyday living!

and make his face to shine upon us…”
