Do you remember going over to your friends’ house as a little girl to play and thinking that her toys and dolls were so much fun to play with? To be able to have something new and different to play with always made for such a fun Saturday afternoon! Well, some things indeed never change! While visiting with my friend Patti, I got to choose from her china to create a few tablescapes! Today, we invite all of you ladies to sit down for a little something different. I hope you enjoy!!
The round table is an antique English mahogany, surrounded by four matching antique Empire side chairs. The wood is so beautiful that we just had to leave it uncovered!
Patti and I set the table for hot chocolate, cheese straws, cookies, strawberries, and nuts!
The Royal Doulton china is vintage-and isn’t it beautiful?!
The pattern is feminine and delicate, perfect for ladies enjoying an afternoon of treats and conversation!

The angel napkin rings were made by my Mother and given to Patti many years ago. I made the cross-stitch napkins for Patti so long ago that I don’t want to say! (Who am I kidding?!)
Sterling silver Epergne with cheese straws (every good Southern hostess has her favorite recipe) and “aggression” cookies. You will find the recipe for this delicious cookie at the end of this post.
Waterford water goblets, sterling Gorham pastry forks in the buttercup pattern and sterling ice bucket!
Such a beautiful pattern that Patti has not been able to identify. The antique sterling demitasse spoons are monogrammed with my initial and were given to me by Patti while I was visiting, so we just had to use them on this lovely table setting!
Porcelain place cards and monogrammed sterling nut bowls. In the South, we monogram everything!
With so many fine pieces, simplicity allows each element to shine!

Aggression Cookies
1 ½ cups brown sugar 1 ½ cups all purpose flour
1 ½ cups butter 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
3 cups oatmeal, uncooked
Mix all ingredients together and then let your frustrations out. Pound, squeeze, and knead the dough until all lumps of butter and aggression disappear. Roll into small balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with a fork. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool before removing from sheet. Yield: 5 dozen cookies
