Hello sweet friends. I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend. Ours was mostly quiet. Butch and I had lunch with my Daddy on Sunday, and we grilled burgers yesterday for our son, daughter-in-love, and the Princesses. With Memorial Day being the unofficial start to summer, what better time to take a look back at some of my favorite garden tablescapes. Please join me in the garden and I will provide a tall glass of sweet tea with lemon and mint!

Wildflowers & Botanic Garden

Hello sweet friends. I hope your Mother’s Day was as wonderful as possible with our current situation. My sweet hubby grilled hamburgers (a personal favorite) and we took lunch to my Daddy’s to enjoy with him. The weather has been absolutely amazing. As I keep saying, this is the prettiest spring in my recent memory. It was unseasonably cool last week with a couple of mornings of light frost. The days have been most pleasant, in the mid 60’s to low 70’s.

Not only has the spring been glorious, but so have the wildflowers. I set a very simple tablescape next to our wooded picnic area with a vase of wildflowers as the centerpiece. I saved you a virtual seat for a symphony of birdsong and the sweet fragrance of honeysuckle and privet!

 

“Botanic Garden” dinner plates by Portmeirion were chosen to complement the wildflowers. Portmeirion artist Susan Williams-Ellis came up with the idea for Botanic Garden in 1972 when she was looking through rare books and discovered a 19th century volume of beautiful, meticulously drawn floral illustrations…Hydrangea Macrophylla (Hydrangea)…

…Lathyrus Odoratus (Sweet Pea). With its delightful mix of floral motifs and signature leaf border, Botanic Garden is a true British classic. Each plate bears the common and scientific name.READ MORE

Quimper & Wildflowers

Hello sweet friends. I hope your week is going well as we continue sheltering in our homes. We enjoyed gorgeous weather over the weekend, even though the winds were quite strong! With beautiful weather in progress, I am excited to share my first garden tablescape of the year. We have already been in the picnic area for several tables, but the garden is beginning to fill out and I couldn’t wait any longer to share a garden table. I have saved you a virtual seat for Quimper and wildflowers!

 

A couple of years ago my sweet blogging friend, Rita at Panoply, gifted me this beautiful vintage Quimper faience pottery in the “Soleil Yellow” pattern. With its sunny color, I thought it would be perfect for the first garden table of the season.
