Happy Wednesday dear friends! I am a day late posting Tablescape Tuesday, it seems that there are more things to do than there is time these days. Last Saturday it reached 97 degrees with stiff winds all afternoon. I had planned a table in the garden, but the winds were going to be an issue. I moved to our little picnic area that is more protected and very shaded. With autumn on my mind and the summer heat bearing down, this tablesetting became slightly summer and slightly fall.
My thoughts and prayers continue for all who are experiencing the heart wrenching effects of Florence.

We are enjoying this little picnic area away from the garden. We just had a large pine tree removed and are considering making a small shaded garden. This area borders a densely wooded area where our large deer population likes to hang out. If we do decide on a small garden, we will have to use deer-resistant plants for sure.

My zinnias are still blooming, so they are definitely the summer on the table with a little lantana mixed in!READ MORE

Tablescape Tuesday: Roosters On Parade

Happy Tuesday sweet friends. As I am watching the projected path of Hurricane Florence, I am praying for all of you who are in harm’s way. I am sure you are getting prepared and battening down the hatches. 

I would be amiss not to mention the significance of this day 17 years ago.  It’s one of those moments that everyone remembers where they were when our country was attacked and those Twin Towers fell.  As Americans, we will always remember the tragedy of that day and the lives that were lost.  

With hurricanes lined up in the ocean, and the grief our country experiences on this day, 9/11, sharing a tablescape seems rather frivolous, but hopefully this will be a bright spot in your day!

Late Sunday afternoon was challenging as ominous thunderstorms and lightning were nearby. I set a record time of one hour to set the table, photograph, take it down, and put it all away. Why can’t I always do that? Please grab a garden chair and join me for a rooster parade!

I had no ideas for a tablescape this week and to be perfectly honest, that happens often. I opened up my linen closet to look at tablecloths and my eyes fell on a lovely French inspired toile one. I remembered that I had napkins that matched the border on the cloth, so a plan quickly developed!

The Fitz and Floyd roosters came out of hiding to join the roosters parading on the tablecloth.

Harvest Time – Fall Tablescape Blog Hop

Happy Labor Day sweet friends! Where did summer go? It seemed to whiz on by when I wasn’t looking. It is still in the low nineties in our Appalachian Foothills, but signs that autumn is on its way can be easily seen.

With the changing of the seasons, I know that our Southern farmers will be harvesting their crops of corn, soybeans, and cotton.   Recently, a friend of mine that happens to own an antique mall texted me pictures of a set of vintage china that had just arrived at her shop. She knows me well enough to know that I would definitely love it. Immediately, I let her know that I wanted it and to hold it until I could get there. It was a bargain price for this vintage Johnson Bros. “Harvest Time” pattern with its brown multicolor fruit and leaves pattern that is perfect for fall!
