Well, hello August…you got here in a hurry!  In our Appalachian foothills, we are feeling the heat and humidity!  If you are a regular reader, as always, we are glad to have you!  But if you are new, I am so excited that you are here for the Alfresco Tablescape Blog Hop! Being a lifestyle blogger means you can find me doing a number of different things: traveling to new places, setting a table for friends and family, or pulling weeds from our garden that we love!  My husband, Butch (Renaissance Man) and I love everything about the outdoors…and that includes alfresco dining!  Today, you are invited to pull up a seat at our table for six…what’s better than a glass of lemonade on an endless summer day?

Tablescape Tuesday: An Elegant Evening

Have you all noticed how much I love color?  I like it in my wardrobe, in my home, and of course on my tables!  I’m just a big fan of color!  But sometime it’s fun and even necessary to change things up a bit!  This past weekend, on a whim, I decided to do something totally different for this week’s tablescape.  I put away the color, and let the white and gold take over for a more elegant look and feel.  Butch (Renaissance Man) and I put a lot of work and effort into this one, but in the end, it was worth all of the sweat drops and trips to and from the kitchen!  Step into our garden and join us for an “elegant evening”!


An elegant tablesetting called for the dining room chairs to be moved into the garden…they are so heavy and that is when Butch had to step in and rescue this damsel in distress!READ MORE

Tablescape Tuesday: A Slice Of Summer

I look out the kitchen window and guess what I see?  The faces of the happiest blooms…sunflowers!  We planted a couple of short rows last year, and I enjoyed them so much that they had to make a return appearance!  Last summer we planted them outside and to the left of the garden, this year we planted them behind the garden, so that means I have a good view from my kitchen window of their large blooms!  Today I am combining the smiling flowers and a favorite summer refreshment…ice-cold watermelon with coarse sea salt for the perfect summer table!  Join me and I will share a slice of summer with you!
