Tablescape Tuesday: Puttin’ On The Glitz!

I must’ve blinked or something.  I cannot believe this year is coming to a close…didn’t it just start?!  It seems like the holidays come and go faster than ever!  Thanksgiving flew by, I just finished the dishes from Christmas dinner, and this Thursday, we say goodbye to 2015 and welcome 2016!

Since most everyone in our family is an Alabama fan, we will be tuned in to the college football play-offs on New Years Eve! Hopefully the Tide will roll to victory against Michigan State…that will be a great way to start 2016!  Even though I am not hosting on New Year’s Eve, I still wanted to share a tablescape that is a little glam and glitz! The gold and white striped candles provided the inspiration for this New Year’s Eve table! I love it when nothing is purchased, but everything on the table was in my stash of stuff! The table runner is a sparkly scarf overlaid over a gold satin folded table square. Between the layers is a strand of LED lights! There are varying heights of crystal candle stands and crystal and silver votive holders!
 The placemats have a little sparkle, with gold threads running through them…and you’ll notice gold confetti landed on the salad plates!
Antique sherbet glasses!
 A cotton napkin with a sheer overlay is cinched with a black bow tie napkin ring!The lightly flocked trees in the window make it feel like winter, even though it is 73 degrees!
 
 Love the sparkle and glitz!Mixing china, flatware, or stemware makes for an interesting table!  Don’t hesitate to mix whatever you have!  Three different stemware patterns are on the table!

As 2015 draws to a close, so does another year in blogging.  A lot has taken place here on the blog…from travel to decorating to recipes…and beyond!  We thought it might be interesting to know what posts were viewed the most during the year!  One thing that remains constant from week to week is Tablescape Tuesday… and we didn’t miss a week!  That means 52 tablescapes!

Tablescape Tuesday: The Heart Of Christmas

As I was working on setting the table yesterday, my heart was filled with joy and gratitude as I thought about each one who would be sitting around our table.  A few family members will be missing because they will be at their other family’s tables!

Christmas is not about presents, parties, or even making your home festive!
No, it’s not even about the traditions we treasure.
The heart of Christmas is this: the Christ child, born over 2000 years ago.  Completely human and completely divine.
Humble and holy.
Baby and King.
The one that holds all things together.
And we must all answer the most important question of life…the one that all of eternity hinges on…Will you follow Him?
Will you make Him Lord and Savior of your life?

May this truly be the “most wonderful time of the year” as you purpose in your heart to keep Jesus in his rightful place…He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

Shimmering tartan plaid tablecloth with gold threads running through gives an elegance to our table set for Christmas dinner!

 
I have used the deer place card holders on a couple of our holiday tablescapes, but they are my favorite!

 
I just love Christmas china…the Fitz and Floyd remains a favorite!

 
I am so thankful to still have my 85 year old Daddy who has a sharp mind and wit!  My heart overflows when putting his place card opposite Butch at the end of the table!

The centerpiece is made of several elements!  I enjoy mixing it up, using natural with a little bling!

 
A pair of hurricane containers hold fresh mandarin oranges.  I love the unexpected pop of orange with the traditional red and green!


A Santa cookie jar is at the center! 


 I placed four cones of faux glittered tulips with fresh cut pine filling in the centerpiece!

 
Bisque votives provide ambiance!
