Happy 4th of July!  A lot of people will spend the day on the water today, understandably so, with the temps and humidity being as high as they are!  We had a little rain yesterday…but not near the amount we need!  These are what you call the dog days of summer!  But oh the beauty that these hot days full of sunshine bring to our garden!  With every season’s change, it takes on a whole new look, and we love to take it all in! Haven’t you all loved the tours we’ve been on of beautiful gardens and unbelievable views?  I am still amazed that these places are right here in my hometown!  Each stop we have made has had unique elements, and I have gleaned ideas from each one!  Today, we round out the tour and you are in for a real treat!  The two final stops on the tour made me forget I was in Northeast Alabama!  Today, let’s start off in a mini-paradise, and at the end, we will find ourselves wandering around in an unbelievable rose garden!


With the swaying palm trees, I felt as if I were in a resort somewhere in the Caribbean!

Secret Gardens & Breathtaking Views

Today we continue our tour “beyond the gates” in our city nestled in the Appalachian foothills.  Eight homeowners were so gracious to open their private gardens and backyard spaces for this first annual event!  A few weeks ago, I spotlighted a view that made it hard to believe I was in my hometown, and a garden space that took me all the way to Europe!  Today, we will make four stops: from a beautiful view, to a peaceful koi pond, to a rustic retreat, to a wonderful entertaining space…you are in for a treat! Lace up your walking shoes, put on your sunglasses and join me!  You might even pass by the heavenly fragrance of gardenias along the way!


This outdoor space has a beautiful view of the city and the Appalachian foothills!
