‘Twas The Thursday Before Christmas

‘Twas the Thursday before Christmas and all through the house, everything was decorated by me and my spouse.
The stockings were hung and nativities in place, Nutcrackers stood guard as Christmas overtook our space! 
The Carolers greeted each guest as they walked in, and Ella Mae loved them…they were her new friends!
But more than the trees and the lights and the garland, we shift our focus to the Christ child born in a far land.
His name is Jesus, He is Lord and He is King. He’s our Savior, Redeemer, the reason our hearts sing!

My Renaissance Man always decorates the door to his workshop…

…he has been making the Williamsburg fan for years using fresh apples, pineapple, and magnolia leaves.

It Started Like Any Other Night…

Warm greetings sweet friends!  Can you believe that in less than a week Christmas will arrive? A couple of years ago I received a gift that totally took me by surprise. The lovely Pat from Life at Lydia’s House gifted me with her own designed Christmas dinnerware “Bethlehem Christmas”…and you talk about a lovely gift!  There are 8 different designs that share the birth of Jesus according to the scriptures. I am so excited to use it for our family’s Christmas once again and to share our table with you!

Once again I’ve asked Butch to share the lyrics of a song he wrote a few years ago. We have such a love for music so it seems fitting to use the words of a song to caption this Bethlehem Christmas. As you gather around our table it is our prayer that each scene will reveal the reality of the Christ child!

Christmas Cheer & Changes In Our Family Room

Merry Thursday dear friends! Are you all finished with your Christmas shopping?  It is hard to believe that Christmas is less than two weeks away!  

Today, I am so excited to welcome you into my family room, where you will find a whole lot of Christmas cheer!  This summer, we made some changes in this room, and I had planned to share it with you before I decorated for Christmas, but I never got around to even taking photos!  But today we are here, so grab a cup of coffee and let’s take a look!

It took me a few months to convince My Renaissance Man to let me paint the fireplace, but he finally gave in. We built our home in the country almost forty years ago, and it was to be our starter home. But, country living so agreed with us that we could never leave this twenty five acres of woods, pasture, and a view of Lookout Mountain. It is a small home by today’s standards but it is the perfect size for us.

My mantel and hearth are decorated almost the same from year to year!

This is a photo from last year with the brick unpainted. The decor is tweaked a little this year, but not much.
