There are so many ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day! You can invite the ladies over for an afternoon of coffee and treats as seen here…because an afternoon of girl talk is always fun. Of course, an evening in with Butch like I shared with you last week (seen here) is the absolute best! However, another sweet way to celebrate is to invite the family for dinner! Our family gets together every Sunday and since Valentine’s Day falls on Sunday this year, we will celebrate together! What better way to show love than to set a fun and whimsical table!

Tablescape Tuesday: Hearts of Love

Some things never change…and I mean that in the best way possible! Butch and I have celebrated Valentine’s Day the same way for more years than I can remember: a quiet evening in with a home cooked dinner. It is a special time for us, and it’s much better than fighting the crowds at restaurants!

In keeping with our tradition of staying in for Valentine’s dinner and still making it special and unique, I was thinking how I could jazz up the table a little! Being the sentimental people that we are, we have saved the cards that we have given to each other through the years! So, yesterday I lived in a sea of memories as I waded through them all and found the ones we have exchanged every year on Valentine’s Day! I thought it would be a fun and sweet idea to include some of them on our table this year! The cards always play a big part of our evening after dinner as we open and read, with hearts of gratitude to our heavenly Father who is the Giver of every good gift, and the perfect love. Since cards from years-gone-by will be a part of the table this year, we will be able to re-read each one and remember the many Valentines that God has given us!

Lose weight. Exercise more. Declutter. Simplify. Manage finances more wisely. Paint that hallway that has needed it for years. Travel more. Be more intentional. Maybe some of these have been your thoughts as we approach a brand new year. 2016 will bring a clean slate…and what better time to start than January 1?

Butch and I have been discussing some new plans and goals for the year! In addition to getting our eating and exercising back on track, we have been thinking a river cruise in Europe, minor remodeling at our house, and more landscaping! While these things are important, they are not priority.

What about the most important area, our spiritual life? Have we planned our life of prayer and devotion to God’s Word? It is true that we do not know what 2016 will hold for any of us, but I know this one thing: if we trust in the very capable and trustworthy hands of God the Father, we will be safe. When the storms rage, we can be confident that God’s plan will not be thwarted, and his love will never fail us.As we take a look at our top ten posts of the year, we would like to thank you, our readers, for joining us in 2015. You have greatly blessed us with your comments and friendship! Since we started blogging, our hearts have been to honor God in our everyday living…whether that be traveling, cooking, gardening, and even tablescaping. Our lives are His, and we pray that He is at the center of your 2016!
