My Mother-A Life Well Lived: Monday Morning Blooms

Hello sweet friends! Can it possibly be the month of May? I always heard my Mother say as you get older time flies, well I guess I am there! Being that it is the first Monday of the month, it is Monday Morning Blooms and a most special one…our Mother’s Day edition!

With our state still encouraging sheltering at home and only partially opened, finding flowers is a challenge. The flower farm nearby is between blooms, and only had poppies. I just so happen to love poppies and had never used them for Monday Morning Blooms.

All of my earlier spring blooms are gone, but wildflowers are plentiful this time of year. Renaissance Man cut honeysuckle and privet…but, no it wasn’t the look I was going for. Poppies are a little like tulips, they have a mind of their own. Adding hosta leaves seemed to be the perfect foil for the cheerful poppies.

Be Still & Enjoy Simple Pleasures

Hello sweet friends. Spring has been bursting out all over our Appalachian Foothills. With a mandatory stillness, I have enjoyed this spring more than any in my recent memory. Last week was filled with gardening and working outside…enjoying God’s beautiful creation surely lifts my spirit!

Can you believe it is already the third Monday of the month and that means a new edition of Monday Morning Blooms with my lovely blogging friends. As we continue sheltering at home, I am more aware of simple pleasures…a cup of coffee, a good book, conversations with my hubby, preparing meals, sitting on the patio, and listening to music, to mention just a few. And more than a simple pleasure has been time with my Heavenly Father. When life returns to whatever the new normal will be, I hope I don’t forget the important lessons of being still and enjoying life’s simple pleasures.

 

So what does one do when you can’t go out and purchase flowers at the grocery store and your garden is not yet in bloom?

I decided I would not fret. I know I can always find wildflowers in our woods…those pretty blooms that I used to call weeds. Our common theme for this Monday Morning Blooms is “anything goes”, which is perfect for our current situation.

An Easter Sheltering In The Country

Hello sweet friends. It is always a joy to have you visit with me. During these unsettling times, life has changed for all of us in both big and small ways. As we have been directed to shelter in our homes, I am so thankful to have a home that provides a physical and emotional refuge when the storms of life threaten. This Easter we are sheltering in the country. As we approach Easter this coming Sunday, may our hearts be filled with the hope that comes only from knowing Jesus through a personal relationship with Him.

It is the first Monday of the month which means Monday Morning blooms with my blogging friends Lidy, Mary, and Shirley. Today our posts will be a little different! Unable to go out and about to shop for flowers, we still wanted to provide you with Easter inspiration and to spread a little joy during this unprecedented time. An Easter afternoon in the country complete with a picnic table and a few sweet treats! Mr. and Mrs. Bunny hopped onto the table wearing their coordinating Easter frocks, aren’t they adorable? The old yellow pitcher, with sweet memories attached, holds azaleas and snowballs from my garden along with pink roses, alstroemeria, and green hydrangeas. Dogwood branches are a highlight of Easter season and add a nice backdrop to this table.

Beautifully decorated Easter cookies were enjoyed by Ella Mae… I may have had one or two!
