St. Paddy’s Day In The Country – Monday Morning Blooms

Happy Monday dear friends and I hope your week is off to a good start. Can you believe it is the first Monday in March? It seems that time is speeding by so fast I can hardly keep up. This coming weekend we spring forward which tells me springtime can’t be far behind. The first Monday of the month means it is time for an edition of Monday Morning Blooms. I am excited about our common theme today and I know you will be inspired by my flower loving friends. Believe it or not, you will find me outside for this one!

 Saturday morning began as another cloudy and rainy day. I had so hoped the weather would cooperate so I could be outdoors for this edition of Monday Morning Blooms! By mid morning it stopped raining and the temperature was in the mid fifties! Was it the luck of the Irish?

Monday morning greetings sweet friends!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  We arrived home last night from three days at SanDestin, one of the prettiest beaches anywhere.  However, the weather was just like it has been at home, cloudy and gray.  It was the first time that I had ever been to the beach during the winter months.  We were there for a beautiful wedding of our long-time friends’ daughter.  We were surprised how crowded it was, maybe due to President’s Day Weekend.  On our drive home we saw lots of trees and flowers blooming…it is much too early.  Speaking of flowers, it is the third Monday of the month which means it is Monday Morning Blooms with my flower loving friends.  I am so glad that you are here for roses and halos, please come in out of the rain!


We are always challenged with a common theme and today it is incorporating citrus! I love that we all seem to have a different approach to our common theme.

Roses were most plentiful last week because of Valentine’s Day. It was so easy to add Halo oranges to the pink “sweet unique” and white “Eskimo” roses. Both are hybrid tea roses, with the Eskimo being often used for bridal bouquets!

Flowers & A Friendship – Monday Morning Blooms

Hello sweet friends…the arctic blast has made its way to the Appalachian Foothills!  It’s cold and sunny here, which makes for a perfect morning to stay in and drink coffee!  It’s the third Monday of the month and that means it’s time for Monday Morning Blooms…and today is a really special one for me.  I hope you’re ready for a story of flowers and friendship!

On my search for flowers this week at our local grocery stores, I was having absolutely no luck.  So, what’s a girl to do? I called my favorite florist to see if he could order me coral roses, pale blue hydrangeas, and seeded eucalyptus. He called me the next afternoon to say his truck had arrived and he thought he had what I wanted. When I got there, I went to the back of his shop where he keeps all of his flowers. He had several bunches of roses, but then I saw this particular bunch that I knew was exactly what I was hoping for. Of course I always want to know the name of the variety of rose. It is called “free spirit”, he said. And that led to a sweet time of reminiscing about our dear and mutual friend that fit the name of the roses perfectly. Putting together this week’s Monday Morning Blooms was very special and enjoyable for me as it took me down a road of precious memories and one of the sweetest friendships I have ever known…

It was 1974 that I met this bigger than life, bubbly personality, with a south Alabama accent that would melt butter. She had just moved here, and I was immediately drawn to her charm and warmth. She was one that as soon as you met her, you knew you would become friends.
