My last visit here found Noccalula Falls high and dry, but this past week we were blessed with a few rainy days. I always prefer sunny days and felt somewhat cooped-up, but we definitely needed the rain. I failed to empty my rain gauge, and after the rain, we hit 20 degrees Friday night. You can easily surmise that I need a new rain gauge. At least it was my ancient plastic one and not the newer decorative garden feature! READ MORE

Greetings on this last Sunday of January. For some reason, when it is cold, it feels colder near the water. We had a very frigid week here, but what a crazy record breaking week of snow for those south of us, even on the gulf beaches. Snow in palm trees is a strange looking sight! I was ready to move on from the “winter garden” theme after kinda hanging with that idea for a couple of weeks, but then this happened, freezing fog. It has always been a mystery to me how fog can exist and float around in the air while it is 25 degrees. I’ve read about what occurs and why the droplets don’t freeze until contacting a surface, but it is still puzzling to me. It is pretty but can be dangerous as well!READ MORE
