Garden Expansion Progress

Happy Tuesday dear friends. I am so excited as I look at this week’s autumn-like weather forecast. Our temperature was predicted to be 53 this morning with a high of 82 today. With low humidity, we should have bright blue skies and sunshine through the weekend!

A few weeks ago I shared the beginnings of our garden expansion. My RM has made a lot of progress!

The arbor is completed! When RM decides to start a project, he doesn’t stop until it is finished. On the other hand, I was trying to insist he pace himself while working in the heat and humidity. You can see who won that discussion!READ MORE

Expanding The Garden

Happy Thursday sweet friends! Last week I shared The Summer Garden and mentioned that my Renaissance Man was planning to enlarge the space. He wasted no time!

Sometimes to be “in with the new” means “out with the old”. This arbor is almost 40 years old and at one time was in the front yard and supported a swing. After being relocated it has been home to Lady Banks Roses. Storms have wreaked havoc on the roses on two occasions. Once we were able to trim and then pull the vines back into place and reshape. The last time however, the roses had to be cut back to almost ground level and the arbor repaired. The roses grew back over the top in two seasons but have not bloomed as well after the major pruning. This will all be removed…sad, but it’s time!READ MORE

An Appalachian Mountain view that is as good as it gets! Gooseberry Knob is an iconic spot that is well known by anyone familiar with The Swag in western North Carolina. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park boundary lies less than 100 yards behind where I was standing. Come along and join PJ and me as we do a little trekking in the mountains.READ MORE
