“This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true;
he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him”
Psalm 18:30
You may have noticed by now that each week on Simple + Southern Sunday, we start off with a picture of a church. While all of the buildings you see from week to week are architecturally beautiful and eye-catching, the church is so much more. The church is not just a building…it is God’s people. This week, you will see the words of God and what he says about his bride, the church.
We hope you enjoy! “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers…
…and awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles….…and all who believed were together and had all things in common… …and they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need... …and day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes……they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people…
…and the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”
Acts 2:42-47 “For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another”
Romans 12:4-5
“And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent”
Colossians 1:18
“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit”
Ephesians 2:19-22“Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”— for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints”
Revelation 19:7-8“For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness”
Psalm 84:10
“Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind”
Philippians 2:2
“And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all”
Ephesians 1:22-23 “For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ”
1 Corinthians 12:12
“They are planted in the house of the Lord;
they flourish in the courts of our God”
Psalm 92:13
“I was glad when they said to me,
‘Let us go to the house of the Lord!’”
Psalm 122:1
