Snow is a rare occurrence in the Appalachian foothills of northeast Alabama…so, please indulge us as we are beyond excited to share the snow edition of Simple + Southern Sunday!  As beautiful and peaceful as it is, we are thrilled that snow is not a part of our everyday living!

On the drive home last Tuesday, I had to get a photo of these guys and girls on the snow with their red barn!

A winter evening graces a beautiful church near the center of town!

Katy had a perfect view of historic downtown!

An empty Broad Street Bridge!  Not a normal afternoon!!

The gazebo in downtown near City Hall is also quiet and peaceful.

The south in February can offer up a wide variety of weather and so far, 2015 has delivered some extremes at a fast pace! You may not get the full impact as you stroll through today’s post, but maybe a little hint. We do go from a sunny 72 degrees to snow & ice with wind chills well below zero. However,  when we see the news of what our neighbors to the north have dealt with, there is no room for complaining!

Ice sculptures in the form of bushes made by God’s own hands-he gives us distinct beauty to enjoy for every season!

The historic Glover House in Marietta, GA was rebuilt in the 1880’s in an Italianate style!

Mom and Dad have prepared a bountiful feast for their two eaglets! The eggs hatched last weekend on the campus of Berry College!  You can see them here:  Berry College Eagle Cam.

As we were enjoying breakfast a few weeks ago at The Pantry, we couldn’t help but wonder about the lady’s image on the old screen door!

The temperatures have been so cold, and the trees at Noccalula Falls proudly display it!

We have been reflecting on the greatness of God this past week!  Those are thoughts that we can never exhaust.  Do you ever just pause and think about how much the Creator of the universe loves you…that He has proven His love over and over again?

This church located in Clarksville, TN is on the National Register of Historic Places and was completed in 1877. I love the red doors!

“The splendor of a king, clothed in majesty

Our nephew, Joel made this map of the world for his office.  It is amazing what can be done with a pallet!  Total cost=$0

May I just say, I never turn down a dessert!  Chocolate Pave…sponge cake with chocolate caramel buttercream and blood orange sorbetto at Frank Stitt’s Bottega Restaurant!

Santa’s unfortunate demise!!

Most of the world would love to have access to clean water! So very thankful that we don’t depend on wells, but think about those who aren’t as fortunate.  May we appreciate the undeserved blessing of turning on our faucet!
