In only a few weeks this view of Weiss Lake from this spot on Lookout Mountain will disappear as leaves will soon arrive for another growing season!

I kinda gave the Bradford pears a hard time last week because of the fact that most of those we see in the countryside are those thorny rogues versions. But they really do brighten up the late winter landscape. An observation…those that have come up on their own seem to bloom earlier than the ornamental nursery plants that have been growing a long time. This pic is an older tree that was planted by humans, not birds. This was not quite a week ago and the buds were just starting to break out.READ MORE

Happy Tuesday dear friends! Spring is popping out in our Appalachian Foothills! Forsythia, Japanese quince, daffodils, and redbuds (to name a few) are all in bloom with many others almost ready to bloom!

Late Spring Garden

Hello sweet friends. It has been a while since I updated you on the garden. We had several late frosts this year and unusually cool temperatures for the Deep South, blooms have been slower to arrive. Let’s take a short walk and I will share what is happening.
