It was the first day of October and we were more than excited about our opportunity to visit Yellowstone. After a super day in Grand Teton National Park, our plan was to spend today traveling the south loop which would include Old Faithful. We were blessed with a beautiful autumn day with temps in the mid-sixties. Yellowstone, with all the geothermal activity, geysers, hot springs, alpine rivers, dramatic canyons, and abundant wildlife is one of the most unique places in the world. We understand  there are approximately 1,000 geysers on the planet and half of those are found within the caldera boundary in Yellowstone. We should all be thankful for those who came before us, recognized what a treasure they had found, and had the vision and desire to preserve it! Yellowstone became the world’s first National Park in 1872.  

  The south entrance is only about 58 miles from Jackson and a bonus is that there is not one inch of bad scenery between the two places! Awesome drive just to get here!

  Old Faithful was giving us a tease. It was almost time for the predicted eruption window (+/- 10 minutes) when a ranger came by and said they were off on the time by about an hour. We joked that even Old Faithful was getting too old to be faithful. There is plenty to see while waiting. No boredom here!READ MORE
