“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit”
Psalms 34:18
When I learned of the tragedy in Las Vegas yesterday, my heart again was broken for the state of our nation. It seems like we continue to hear the phrase “deadliest mass shooting in US history”. The Route 91 Harvest Music Festival now takes that tragic title and is an event that will go down in history as an act of hate and violence, altering the lives of so many. My prayer for the victims, the families, and for our nation is that we take our eyes higher…from Route 91 to Psalm 91. May these true and sweet words of our Lord bring comfort and peace…
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord,
“My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Psalm 91:1-2
It is also my prayer that even in the darkest of days, my little corner of the blog world can bring a little “happy” to you! For me, it is always helpful to look for the beauty that God surrounds us with…like the fields of goldenrods that are in full bloom! Autumn brings a sea of yellow that lines the highway as you drive the country roads here in NE Alabama…quite an awesome sight!
And here is a fun fact: they were our state flower for thirty years before being dethroned by the camellia! So with the abundance of glorious goldenrods popping up all around, I felt it was only appropriate to bring some to the table for this week’s tablescape!
