Are you ready to welcome 2026? No rush, there’s still 4 days (counting today) to get prepared.  In 1788,  Robert Burns took a traditional Scottish song and re-wrote it. His poem became the text, and in 1799, the poem was set to music using a traditional tune which became the standard. The song, “Auld Lang Syne”, is now sung to welcome in the new year in most English speaking countries around the world. Today marks the “official” first day of winter for the Northern Hemisphere. Our sunrise this morning (photo from yesterday) is as far south along the horizon as it will appear. The sun will now once again be trekking north, barely noticeable for a while, but it will occur with surety, as the Prophet Daniel declared, God changes the times and the seasons!READ MORE

A Sunshine Cottage Christmas

Merry, Merry Thursday, it is one week until Christmas Day!

Welcome friends to a Sunshine Cottage Christmas! The cottage is decorated with my grandchildren in mind. For new readers, we have four grands…two girls ages 9 and 6, and two boys ages 4 and 10 months. The boys don’t visit very often, it really is a girls’ cottage! I have noticed the boys sometimes wander in about the time treats are being served!

The birth of Jesus Christ is the reason we celebrate Christmas. The Hummel Nativity was a gift from my sweet husband, Butch! It was placed in the center of the counter, and is the season’s focal point in our cozy little cottage!READ MORE
