The Colors of Seaside

“When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”
Genesis 9:16

Memorial Day weekend usually initiates summer.  We are drawn to the beach, the lake, and grilling is practically a requirement!  Ice cream freezers are also placed in service.  As we traveled north Friday afternoon from northwest Florida, southbound traffic was obviously well above normal.  It may seem the reason for this holiday is overshadowed by our need to kick summer into high gear.  But, there is significant evidence that folks here in the south do remember the real purpose for setting aside a special day.  There are hundreds of events scheduled to honor all who have stood in the gap to protect freedom and also to pay tribute to many who stand today.  Then there’s all those flags!   The red, white, and blue is proudly on display.  May we all take time to remember that freedom is very costly, and it is always under attack.  We pray that all of you have a wonderful and colorful Memorial Day.

Speaking of color…

I love them all – but that 4th one? It melts my heart !
I love how some of the shutters open horizontally – I’ve never seen that before –
    Thanks for sharing!

I love the fun colors of these homes. I want to just pick one and move right in! Are the people who live in this lovely town as fun as their homes? Thanks of the walk through Seaside with you.

    • Thanks for walking with us, Kim! These homes are owned by people from all over the country. There are little signs with their names and where they are from on all of them. Many are for rent! It was fun to see where people live that own them!

Hi Pam, would you please tell me where you stayed while vacationing in Seaside? I am contemplating a vacation there myself! Thanks and God Bless!

    • Good morning, Nanette. Every May my husband has a workshop in Sandestin. It is held at the Sandestin Hilton so we always stay there! I have never stayed in Seaside! I have always wanted to, however. We always drive down to 30a to eat! I am sorry I am no help! Thanks for reading ! Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! Blessings, Pam

Because I was raised on the beaches of SoCal, but now live in the desert of AZ, my life dream has been to someday own a cottage on a beach. These are such sweet places, I’d love to own, but then again reality wakes me up :) Thanks for sharing your seaside walk! I totally enjoyed! Blessings, Cindy

  5. Hi Pam! Visiting from Thursdays Favorite things! That first pink house made me swoon! I love anything pink, but make it a cute little seaside home and it kills me! How beautiful are all these pictures, thanks for sharing this! Love your blog too!

Hi Pam…coming to see you through Grace at Home. I first visited Seaside over 25 years ago when it first being built. My inlaws used to go to Panama City Beach every winter and we visited here with them. Just a couple of months ago, we visited again and I was blown away! What used to be a wide open beach with a few very colorful housesand a tiny little post office has just grown so much and I could hardly even imagine it was the same place! I love those beautiful colors of the the houses…only one thing bothered me…you could hardly see the beach anymore for all of the close together houses, trees and PEOPLE! Your photos are wonderful and so very colorful!

    • Debby, thank you so much for reading and commenting! Yes, you are right, you can hardly see the beach! I remember visiting Destin when there were very few hotels and now high rise condos are everywhere! Some say that is progress, but it is a little sad that landscapes change! Have a wonderful week! Blessings, Pam
