Autumn In Our Appalachian Foothills

“He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding…”
Daniel 2:21

Can’t we all agree that when autumn arrives it brings with it a sense of refreshment and renewal?  The air is more crisp (although we have yet to experience that here in the Deep South), the soup is more hearty and the colors more vibrant…all orchestrating together to usher in the season I love!  Here in our Appalachian Foothills, there is no shortage of fall foliage…all within an hours drive!  Maybe you’ve heard of places like Little River Canyon?  What about DeSoto State Park?  And the world famous Berry College?  Yes, those places are all right here in our backyard…and today, we have dipped into the archives to bring you Autumn In Our Appalachian Foothills!  Sit back and enjoy the ride!

Dear Pam, today was a very special pleasure to observe and enjoy the colorful autumn. I consider it as a compensation award in the sweltering summer heat.
Looking at the pictures I felt peace, the delight of the beautiful images of almost unimaginable colors in nature as those bluish tones that blend with the other hot, golden …. beautiful of tones.
I have learned something new and it is the knowledge of your gingko tree, unknown stop me. ‘What color beauty !!
You can say that your post are authentic poems in pictures.
    Hugs, Dolores

    • Querida Dolores, tan bueno saber de usted! Me alegro de que se podrían introducir para nuestros árboles gingko. Son hermosas en otoño! Bendiciones, dulce amiga! Abrazos, Pam
Dearest Dolores, so good to hear from you! I am glad I could introduce you to our gingko trees. They are beautiful in autumn! Blessings, sweet friend! Hugs, Pam

  4. Your blog is the first I’ve visited today Pam, and what a glorious start to this finally cool morning! All of your photos are just stunning, and of course the quotes are so wonderful- I’ve not heard the ones about the dead leaves dancing, that truly puts a different twist on the way to look at them! Seeing your sweet kitty made me sad for you ???? but such a nice memory…as a child, my favorite thing to do was rake a big pile of leaves and jump in them. Thank you for this beautiful start to my day!

Absolutely breathtaking photos. We don’t have that much color here in our little desert town. I grew up in Indiana so I really miss the brilliant colors of fall. Thanks for sharing 🙂

I love your photos and autumnal quotes. Many years ago I moved to Florida and dearly miss autumn. The breathtaking panorama of leaves, the crunch of them, raking them. Leaving the house on a crisp morning and seeing you breath. Thanks for sharing.
