“When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul”
Psalms 94:19
Last weekend, when I toured several private gardens and backyard spaces, they all had one thing in common….hydrangeas! The hues of pink and blue were spotted in all of their glory at each house! For the past two years, we had no blooms on our bushes, but seeing them on the tour gave me high hopes! And guess what? Ours are gorgeous this year! I hope you’re all ready to venture back out to the garden where the hydrangeas steal the show!
Early evening dining alfresco!

Votive candle holders from Wisteria many years ago!
It has been so dry over the past three weeks, you can see the sprinkler that I forgot to turn off!

Pam, love your table and those hydrangeas! Ours are only just beginning to bloom, and I’m hopeful this is their turnaround year from scant blooms of the past three years. I think the sprinkler adds to the beauty! The chintz ware is beautiful. Happy almost June.:)
Rita, I can hardly believe it is the first day of June tomorrow! Summer heat has really hit here in the deep South! Have a good week!
Here in North Carolina we are soaked. Would gladly share some of the rainfall with you to freshen your beautiful garden. Oh but we must enjoy the rain along with the sunshine. Only in NC for 12 days to plant a small french garden at my nieces petite maison. So rain, rain go away, come again another day.
Alice, how much fun to be in NC to visit your niece and plant a French garden. I would love to see photos and know what you all are planting! Have fun!
Love the pairing with the pink! Hope you enjoy your day. Linda
Thanks, Linda! Wishing you a beautiful week! Blessings~
This tablescape of flowers is wonderful in your garden! I love the salad plates with the mixture of all your other flowers on the table. It truly does have a vintage feel! Your blue hydrangeas are gorgeous, and I know you must be enjoying them. When I saw the lavender, I squealed! Those blooms are huge, and your plants must be, as well. Our sticky mud only allows for lavender to grow for a year or two and then they get too bogged down and die (or something like that). I enjoyed your table as always. Thanks, and keep up the beautiful table treasures! Tuesday blessings~
Kim, thanks so much. I only have five of the chintz plates that I bought years ago at an antique shop. I would love to own a set! This is the first year that my lavender has come back and it really is pretty. I plan on drying some. When I brush up against it in the garden, the smell is heavenly! Blessings, sweet friend!
Your outdoor settings are a delight and the chintz dishes perfect for their environs. Your blooms are considerably ahead of mine.
Linda, thanks! It has become so dry, we can’t seem to get one little rain shower…so sprinklers are running! Hydrangeas are gorgeous this year!
So very pretty! I love your Johnson Bros. plates and they are PERFECT in your beautiful garden setting. Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
Thanks so much, Rosie! I wish that I had a complete set of the rose chintz!
Amazing photo’s! Your dishes are beautiful. I love the chintz pattern top plate. The setting with the background couldn’t be more beautiful. The hydrangeas are so beautiful. Where I live they are pink as our soil is very alkaline. I planted some in very large pots so I could control the environment. I used only jugs of purified water and gave them weekly acid treatments, with all that work the closest I came to blue was that they all turned lavender. I was really dedicated to this experiment.
You have certainly been busy setting the table outside this Spring! Here in Florida we have been dodging the thunderstorms or staying up on the porch for alfresco dining!
Chloe, it is almost too hot to enjoy dining outdoors!
The plates, the napkin rings, the hydrangeas, your garden!!! It’s all so picture perfect pretty and I love the sprinkler shots!!!
Jenna
Thanks, Jenna! It is so dry, we did manage to get a very tiny rain shower late yesterday afternoon!
Pam it looks so beautiful!

Gorgeous! The hydrangeas are lovely! And it’s been a while since I’ve seen that Johnson Bros. set, love it… has always been one of my favs! Looks so pretty paired with the white dishes! ~Rhonda
Thanks so much Rhonda, I am enjoying the hydrangeas while they last! Happy weekend!
Your hydrangeas are beautiful. I have been enjoying mine as well. I’m in N FL and our heat and humidity has arrived taking it’s toll on all plant material, it’s a challenge for a gardener for sure. Your table is lovely too and I especially liked those placemats. Loved your post.
Carolyn
Carolyn, the heat has reached NE AL this week. And not only heat, but dry…so gardening is difficult at best! Wishing you a beautiful weekend!
Your table is stunning. A breath of fresh air.
Janet
