“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor”
Romans 12:10
Every year when the first weekend in August rolls around, people travel from all over to my neck of the woods with one thing in mind: a good bargain! If you love antiquing or vintage items, then you probably know about the World’s Longest Yard Sale that starts here in Gadsden, Alabama and goes all the way to Addison, Michigan. Imagine miles and miles (690 to be exact) of treasures…it’s a true junker’s paradise!
You can find everything from galvanized washtubs to vintage Pyrex dishes to old furniture just waiting on that coat of chalk paint! Of course it wouldn’t be a real yard sale if there weren’t knick-knacks from a McDonald’s Happy Meal, old shoes with the soles barely intact, and junk that absolutely no one on earth would want, but hey! I figured it would be a little more fun for you, my readers, to see it through the lens of a camera than to actually have to brave the heat and the traffic…so come on folks, let’s go yardsalin’!
Have you been looking for that architectural statement for your front yard? Look no further!
The World’s Longest Yard Sale is on top of the latest decorating trends!
Y’all know how many books I have…and I am sure my collection will end up here one day!
Makes me wonder all of the places these old stamps have been? Oh, if they could talk, I am sure they could tell us some good stories!
This mountain lion (cougar) was going for $100 firm, tomato box included! Any takers?
Road Trip!! Doesn’t get any better than this presentation…just throw them on the ground and be done with it! A unique display to say the least!
Some new wheels for your wagon with a couple of spares!
You can even get local honey…or stung by local bees!
These things are for the birds!
These dish(pan) gardens were going fast!
Something for the whole wedding party! You can get it all for less than $100! Move over David’s Bridal!
You can get dishes, a fish picture, or a vintage record player right here in one stop! There is no limit to what you may find!
Antique kitchen gadgetry mega-stop!
Anything you “can” think of might be found here!
These guys were troopers! And they also found the free watermelon!
*
Just in case anyone has a phobia of Port-A-Potties!
“If I had a hammer, I’d hammer in the morning, I’d hammer in the evening, all over this land…”
For those who collect salt and pepper sets, here are some bargains!
A years supply of Pam Spray is included!
I think every child had one of these!
Lots of tablescapes could be created with this display!
…and to think, this was only two miles of the World’s Longest Yard Sale! Can you imagine what else is out there? I still can’t believe I found this china last year for $30! What about you? Have you ever been and what treasures did you find?

Pam, My inner dish-hoarder would be in paradise at the prospect of a new vintage teapot or some transferware! I think it would be addicting and hard to stop thinking a real treasure might be right down the road. The toilet on the lawn reminds me of “The Help” 🙂
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Mary, it was hard to stop and not continue for miles. There is plenty of great stuff and of course, junk! But it is certainly fun with plenty of laughs!
Rita C at Panoply says
LOl, my future ‘stuff’, all in one photo album (minus the cougar). Oh dear, your commentary is hilarious, and gives me pause to this crazy hobby (and all of its spinoff hobbies) of mine. It still looks like loads of fun, though!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Rita, too bad this 690 miles does not come near you! I know you would LOVE it!
Rhonda @Ramblings of a Southern Girl says
Great post! Wish I was there! Junkers haven! 🙂 ~Rhonda
Pam @ Everyday Living says
LOL, a junker’s haven for sure!
Lynn Livingston says
I love all your pictures, its amazing what all kind of stuff is out there. One mans Junk is another mans treasure, I saw one sign that said, Burgers, Wine and flashy trash!.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Lynn, that is hilarious! Next year I might need you to help me do a blog from Kentucky to add to Gadsden! Lol!!!
bonnie morgan says
I’ve always wanted to go on this yard sale. Maybe next year is what I always say! But I actually didn’t know where it began. Fun post. Did you buy anything this year? I would be so tempted to buy dishes I am sure.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Bonnie, I didn’t buy any thing this year, I need to purge part of this stuff! LOL
the Painted Apron says
I have always wanted to see this Pam, and your commentary is hilarious! I have enough of my own junk though, I don’t need anybody else’s! Thanks for taking us yardsalin’ right in your own backyard!
Jenna
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Jenna, I am with you, I have enough junk!
Shannon @ Belle Bleu Interiors says
Pam you got a very good deal on that china. I can’t believe that you only paid $30 for the set! I have always wanted to go to that sale. Thanks for taking us along! I hope that you have a Happy Monday!!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Shannon, it is definitely fun, but not for the weak of heart. 🙂 Wishing you a wonderful week!
Kim says
How fun! I wouldn’t have been able to pass up those bird houses. And the dish pan pots are tempting, too. So glad I could go with you virtually so I wasn’t there to face the temptation head-on! Thanks for sharing all this great junk. Ha!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Kim, there are great finds if you can hold up to the heat and traffic, and plenty of junk and things to make you laugh!
Pat @ Life At Lydias House says
I did a short segment of the sale about 20 years ago! I would love to do it again but I really don’t need any more stuff as I am a junkaholic! I keep thinking of all the treasures to be found in that stuff! Thanks for taking us along!
Lea says
I know about this sale and have a friend that has been a couple of times and found all kinds of treasures. I’m afraid I don’t need any more treasures at this stage in my life so I’ll resist the temptation and stay home. Enjoyable post!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Lea, I agree! I have enough stuff already, and at my age need to start purging! 🙂
shirley@housepitalitydesigns says
Definitely lots of treasures along the way!….How fun it must be!…Thanks for taking us along!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Shirley, lets of fun if the temperatures were cooler! 🙂
Stephanie says
Hello, sweet friend! What a joy to visit you and your delightful blog. Forgive me for being absent for so long…. How are you, dear Pam? I so appreciated your comment on my blog the other day 🙂
I thoroughly enjoyed this post and laughed out loud when I saw the mountain lion in the tomato box. No takers here 🙂 The dishes won my heart and I have an idea they would get me in trouble as I would want to bring too many home.
Have a lovely week. Hugs to you!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Stephanie, thanks for your sweet visit, I hope you are doing well! The yard sale is fun, but I don’t need anything else at this stage of life, I need to start purging! 🙂 Wishing you a beautiful Tuesday. Blessings and hugs, Pam
Nikki G says
This is SO on my list of things to do! Maybe next year I’ll come up and meet you and you can show me the ropes. *wink wink* I want the tomato box, not the cougar. But seriously, I’d love to just LOOK! And I know what you mean about your books ending up in the sale one day. My husband and I have so many collections we could fill up several miles ourselves and have our own longest yard sale. I keep telling his daughter that ours is GOOD stuff and not to take it to the thrift store, they should at least have an auction. LOL
🙂 gwingal
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Nikki, I would love for you to come and we could meet up, and definitely bring your truck!
distresseddonna says
This sale is on my bucket list but so far have not made it. Just two miles!?! I could have filled the truck.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Donna, only two miles…horrific heat and humidity!
Deb @ Frugal Little Bungalow says
LOL This is Absolutely AMAZING! 🙂 Pam, what a fun post! 🙂
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks, Deb!
Jann Olson says
Ha, ha, you made me laugh! That mountain lion!! YUCK! I probably would have snagged the yellow picnic tin. Even if you came home empty handed you couldn’t help but have a good time!! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Jann, yes there is definitely lots to see and it provides laughs and good times!
Lisa says
Oooh what treasures one could find! I’ve never been but I’d love to go!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
It is certainly fun, Lisa!
Stacey says
I’ll take a toilet and a cast iron pan please!! Just kidding…I see pictures of this sale every year and would love to go. We do have Canton First Monday flea market here in Texas which is pretty similar and it’s once a month. You never know what you’ll find. 🙂
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Stacey, you are correct, you never know what will pop up at these yard sales!
Carole @ From My Carolina Home says
I think it is a good thing that there is nothing like this near me, LOL, I am such a thrifting junkie I’d go nuts.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Carole, you might need a semi-truck if you made the 690 mile sale! LOL
Laura says
Pam- attending this is on my bucket list 🙂
Reading your post has me inspired to make it happen-
