Tablescape Tuesday: Pleasing To My Eye

You know, there are some things that can be outdated in our ever-changing world of decorating….but some things just do not fall into that category.  Blue and white have been a mainstay and a staple for as long as I can remember!  I collected the iconic Johnson Brothers “Willow” pattern at least 38 years ago.  It remains one of my favorites…and I dare to say, a favorite of most of us in the blog world!  There is just something about a blue and white tablesetting that is always pleasing to my eye!

I decided on a table for four, I find it cozy for winter.


I love to introduce other colors with blue and white, but my favorite is to keep it simple using only a blue and white palette…it is clean and crisp.

The centerpiece is a bouquet of fresh baby’s breath, not my first choice, but the grocery store apparently had a run on white flowers.  But, I do love the ethereal quality that it brings to a tablescape!


The English transfer-ware vase rests on a silver tray and is flanked by silver candle stands and etched votive holders sitting on vintage Johnson Bros. “Coaching Scenes” bread and butter plates.


I love this stemware from Horchow that I ordered many years ago…it is no longer available.

Silver napkin rings hold Kate Spade cobalt napkins paired with white organza ones.

  6. I love this! My kitchen is the classic blue, white, yellow and mint green. I never tire of it and other colors look great with it. The baby’s breath was one of my favorite things on your table, very country classic. Thank you for sharing your gifted talent. Vivian

  7. Really beautiful Pam! I actually think the baby’s breath is a brilliant choice! I love the airy look for winter, and your china and stemware is gorgeous! I collected blue and white ceramic knock offs for a while, I will have to did them out and see what I can do with them, your blue and white table is inspiring! Love the napkins too, plus what wouldn’t look good in your dining room, it’s elegant yet inviting…

  17. What a breath of fresh air Pam. Blue and white never gets old and you are right in saying that blue willow is a favorite for most bloggers. It is such a classic pattern. I love your choice of napkins and linens to showcase the china. The blue an white pitcher is lovely.

    I too love Carolyne Roehm. I collect all her books. The photography is just incredible and now that she will be a regular contributor for Victoria magazine, makes it even better.

  18. Blue and white is a classic that I never tire of as well. I don’t have enough to set a table, but I filled my chippy cabinet in the basement with all blue and white. Your table is beautiful Pam! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
