4 Years In Our Everyday Living

August 9, 2018~ Everyday Living, Faith

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever”
Hebrews 13:8

Hello sweet friends and welcome to Everyday Living’s 4th anniversary!  4 years…that’s 1466 days, 209 weeks, 48 months…whew!  We have shared so much of our lives with you and plan to continue!  When we first created the blog, we wanted to share our everyday living (hence the name), and I would definitely say it can be classified as a lifestyle blog!

When you land on one of our 784 posts, the first thing you will notice is a Bible verse, which is the core of who we are.  Our faith is most important in our lives and we always want to encourage you with scripture.  In addition to that, we have shown you 216 Tablescapes, given you a glimpse into our week in photos with 196 Simple + Southern Sundays, traveled to 77 different places and taken you along virtually, shared 22 delicious recipes, celebrated several Christmas’s, Thanksgivings, Valentines Day, and birthdays with you all!  It has been fun to reminisce and look back on this blogiversary, but we wouldn’t have been blogging this long if it hadn’t been for you all.  You have encouraged us through comments, emails, features, gifts, and more importantly, your friendship!

Be sure to scroll to the bottom to enter our giveaway!

Our very first post August 3, 2014!

We shared our most personal post about a life changing event in January of this year!
Travel has been an important part of our life over the past fourteen years.  The most visited travel post was a Rainy Day On Nantucket!  An interesting observation is that more people have viewed our travel posts about the U.S than those in other countries.
This small town Southern girl would have never believed she would travel out of the U.S, much less 41 countries and 5 continents.  It is impossible to pick a favorite destination, but Santorini would be near the top!

When we started the blog, I was dreaming of having a garden.  It came to fruition in the late spring of 2015.  Gardening posts have been very popular with our readers.

Last year I started a garden link party.  We have continued Gardens Galore this summer.  It has been fun, educational, and inspirational to see all the gardens that have been shared!
I have been so excited that Southern Lady Magazine has chosen three of our photos to use on their social media page.  Many of you have emailed me immediately when they received their issue.  Psst…we have another in the latest edition.  I will post it soon!
Left to right:  A Little Garden Therapy, This & That No. 5, This & That No. 6

One of our most popular posts was the first one in my designer series.  I think Charles Faudree’s style resonated with all of us.  He was the master of the mix!

In the fall of 2014, we started a Sunday series called Simple + Southern Sunday.  It is basically our week in photos, those things that catch our eye.  We spotlight churches, food, sunsets, children, etc!  It has been a family effort with everyone knowing that I am always looking for “that great” photo.  This is my favorite church photo!  Butch was on a business trip in rural Georgia when he came upon this beautiful scene!

Snow is rare in NE AL and when it happens, we get excited.  So excited, we devoted an entire Simple + Southern Sunday to our big snow event in 2015!

So many of you comment on the sunset photos.  I cannot take credit for most of these.  Katy is the sunset chaser extraordinaire!

Simple + Southern Sunday No. 183 has been our most viewed.  One of my favorite photos in the post is the aerial by Seth of planting time!

A new series started this year called Floral Friday that I am honored to be a part of.  On the first and third Fridays of each month,  I share with blogging friends, Shirley, Lidy, and Mary floral inspiration!
Top Row: Under The Rose Arbor, A Touch Of Tulips
Bottom Row: Hydrangeas, Roses, & Strawberries, A Star Spangled Day

Our Ella Mae has been featured on more posts than anyone.  You have been so gracious to Butch and me as first time grandparents.  When she wasn’t in a recent Sunday post, I received comments and emails asking why.  That warmed my heart that so many of you look forward to seeing her picture.  She has brought us so much joy and I have included you in the journey from asking for grandmother names, to inviting you to the sweet baby shower, sharing the nursery reveal, and to the arrival of our princess!

And now for the giveaway…
First place winner:While the custom of afternoon tea originated in Europe, the beverage itself has ties around the world. Tea Parties Around the World is a 136-page hardback book by the editors of award-winning TeaTime magazine. With 97 recipes, Tea Parties Around the World presents a collection of scones, savories, and sweets, perfect for treating teatime guests to an international culinary tour without the need for a passport.

Second place winner: No matter the season, there’s always room for sweets on the table. From holidays to birthday parties to a typical weekday afternoon, there’s no wrong time to indulge in a confection. So tie on an apron, grab the sugar, and dive into The Tiny Book of Sweets & Confections in the kitchen.

So how do you enter?  I am so glad you asked!  All you have to do is leave a comment below for one entry. For another chance to win, you can comment on Tuesday’s post! The winners will be chosen by a random drawing and announced on Tablescape Tuesday, August 14.

Truly, I have the best followers.  You all have shown me such love and kindness for these four years.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart and I look forward to sharing more posts with you!

Dearest friend, I have so enjoyed following your beautiful blogs, and honored to have been featured in some. My greatest joy with you and Butch and the family, however, has been following your lives for these forty-four years that we have been friends. I love you as a sister.
You have created a home and a family that has embraced me and my family as yours. So even with all of the beauty that you create, your greatest beauty is your life’s witness. You are family, not just friends. The scripture that comes to mind about this is: “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.”

Pam, what a great milestone! Enjoy relaxing with a cup of tea and reading your beautiful blog! Had tears reading about Butch’s accident and God’s faithfulness throughout this journey. I became a first time grandmother three months after you with a beautiful granddaughter (who I also keep while her parents work), and totally understand the joy you feel. Thank you for a beautiful blog!

Dear friend, four years since the publication of this blog so dear and three that we have found.
It’s been 3 wonderful years waiting day by day to see what you gave us. You gave us a lot: friendship, love, beautiful things that you do, family parties, the love of the moment of Ella Mae’s birth … All your life we shared with your friends.
That has a lot of value and I’m happy to have found you.
Today is my birthday, always happy on that day because life continues to give me the opportunity to live … which is not little.
    Feel a great loving hug

I so thoroughly enjoyed reading through the recap of your years of blogging and read again, with tears about Butch. His struggle to overcome and heal from such a horrific accident. You both are such an example and inspiration.

Pam, your every post is full of beauty, hope, kindness and inspiration. I am always thrilled to see a new post in my in box. You are such an amazing talent, I do not know how you continually do all that you do.

I also must tell you how grateful I am for your kindness and support as I have stumbled to find my way in the blogging world. You have been so supportive and kind. I only hope that one day I may be able to support and help someone as you have helped me.

Blessings to you my sweet friend. I hope you enjoy many more years of blogging ~ our world needs you!

    Pam,
Congratulations on your 4th Year Anniversary of blogging. I am from Huntsville, Alabama and have extended family members who still live all over north Alabama. The weather there is so good for both flower and vegetable gardens. Your gardens are so beautiful.

Thank you for offering two wonderful books as giveaway prizes.

Judith, thanks for letting me know you are from Alabama. The weather is good for gardening. We had a storm yesterday afternoon with 50mph winds. It came up suddenly, we had a tree split into. Thankfully, that was the worst damage.

Dear Pam, congratulations on your anniversary. Your blog has been a blessing to me especially this year. After the diagnosis of pacreatic cancer for my dear little sister on Jan 30 we lost her May 17. Four days later my husband was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer. He is in chemo at this time. My husband and I are avid gardeners and I love your gardening party. Just wanted to let you know I find your blog inspring to me, sometimes we don’t realize how many lives we touch.

Happy Wednesday! I set a table next to our woodlan Happy Wednesday! I set a table next to our woodlands in memory of my beautiful Mother who was a lovely example of a Proverbs 31 woman. Mother had the gift of hospitality and shared it with everyone. Karl Rosenfield peonies from my garden fill a treasured keepsake pitcher handed down from my grandmother! A beautiful floral April Cornell ‘Lillianna’ tablecloth and Famille Rose salad plates elevate the status of the old picnic table next to our woodlands. I have collected bejeweled enamel trinket boxes for many years and shared a few on the table for whimsy and fun. For memories of my Mother, click the link in my profile.

With glorious weather, the table next to our woodl With glorious weather, the table next to our woodlands was perfect for teatime! It is Tea on Tuesdays with blogging friends Mary and Kitty. The table is enhanced by views toward the mountain, woodlands, and the large Snowball Viburnum. The verdant rye grass appears as a green carpet that has been spread for Easter! Vintage Fitz and Floyd ‘Herb Garden’ teapots, sugar and creamer, and oval tray are suited for springtime with their embossed bows, vegetables, and words. A bouquet of Kwanzan Cherry blossoms add more spring color to the setting.

I am serving a simple teatime with Earl Grey tea, savory egg salad filled phyllo cups, and sweet vanilla cupcakes with cream cheese icing, and macarons! A favorite cottage rose tablecloth and Essential napkins are by April Cornell.

We are most blessed to celebrate the resurrection of Christ, being the source of new life, yet new life that is eternal. The beauty of this spring will again give way to another autumn in a few months, but the significance of His empty tomb will never change! Happy Thursday! I love setting a table next to our Happy Thursday! I love setting a table next to our woodlands and this is the first one of the season, an Easter/Spring table! I love all the sweet bunny decorations, but Easter is so much more. We celebrate Easter because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. His bodily resurrection enables all those who choose to follow Him to have assured victory over our greatest enemy…death!

I look forward each year when some of my favorite blooms display their amazing beauty in our garden. Snowball viburnum in its full glory with large creamy white blooms. Climbing Lady Banks Rose is covered in hundreds of miniature yellow blooms cascading to the ground. An old-fashioned Bridal Wreath Spirea with its branches arching to the ground in a fountain-like growth habit is loaded with showy double white flowers in clusters of three to six that resemble a bride’s wreath. I still claim the Kwanzan Cherry tree even though it is now on our son’s property. Its ruffled pink double pink blossoms are some of my favorite blooms. All four of these blooms make up an arrangement with a few tulips from the grocery store.

A fluffle of moss bunnies hopped up to the picnic table. A ‘Charming’ tablecloth with Mary Lake-Thompson napkins and Williams Sonoma enchanting ‘Famille Rose’ bunny plates!

I often shared my sweet Daddy and his stories on m I often shared my sweet Daddy and his stories on my blog. My precious Daddy passed away peacefully on March 26th at the age of 94, surrounded by his beloved family! He was born during the depths of the Great Depression. That may have been part of the reason he was always content and loved the simple things.

“A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.” Proverbs 22:1

After high school graduation he signed to play professional baseball with the Cleveland Indians Organization. His baseball career was cut short when he was drafted in the army. He was seriously wounded in the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart and two bronze stars. Upon returning home, he married my beautiful Mother and they shared 54 wonderful years together before she passed away suddenly.

My brother and I grew up in a Christian home, bathed in love, calm, security, and contentment, under the care of the two finest parents anyone could have. Daddy was known as Pawpaw to his three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

My heart is broken, he was the best Daddy a girl could have. I know he is present with the Lord and I rejoice in that promise, knowing too, that my Mother is also in the eternal presence of our Heavenly Father.

Welcome to Sunshine Cottage and the March edition Welcome to Sunshine Cottage and the March edition of Tea on Tuesdays. My inspiration for teatime is the beautiful linens from @april.cornell With the celebration of their 50th anniversary, many Heritage Prints from the archives have returned. Eden is one of the beautiful patterns that has returned. It is a soft purple paradise where butterflies float, roses bloom, and soft sage leaves levitate. As an April Cornell Brand Ambassador, I was gifted these gorgeous linens! I have been a collector of @april.cornell linens for many years…the floral patterns resonate with my love of English Country.

I am serving my favorite, Earl Gray tea, from an Eileen’s Reserve teapot. Teacups by Grace Teaware and vintage Rose Chintz salad plates by Johnson Brothers add more floral patterns to the mix. Japanese Magnolia blooms were cut from my garden and placed in a lilypad teapot!

Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold days, we are experiencing a tease of spring with a 73 degree day that is forecast. After the gray and cloudy days, I needed a dose of color and decided to set a colorful citrus themed brunch! Using a bird gold and pewter stand, I mixed a citrus medley of lemons, oranges, and limes with pink and white carnations as the centerpiece. The table is highlighted with blue and white dishware. Fresh squeezed orange juice, French-pressed coffee and sweet treats of lemon poppyseed muffins, lemon cake with lemon icing, and lemon pastries are perfect for a small brunch. A faux lemon topiary belonged to my beloved Mother and seemed a perfect addition to a citrus-themed table! I love the traditional colors of red and pink! Frilly carnations fill a vintage Staffordshire, ‘Charlotte’ pitcher which rests on an antique Limoges plate with a velvet gold-crowned heart. The plate stack consists of a Royal Stafford ‘Asiatic pheasant’ dinner plate, American Atelier ‘Baroque’ luncheon/salad plate, Johnson Brothers, ‘Winchester’ salad plate, and a vintage pierced Bavarian rose plate!
