Hello sweet friends. I am so glad you are here today for a little springtime inspiration. But first things first, I received emails from so many of my sweet readers asking if we were safe from the tornadoes that hit Alabama on Sunday afternoon. We live about 120 miles from where the tornadoes hit in Lee County. My thoughts and prayers are for all those who have lost loved ones. There are 23 known deaths and people are still missing. The devastation of property is unbelievable. So many lost everything they had. They are saying as of last night that it was an EF4 tornado with winds of 170 mph and that it was a mile wide. Six tornadoes were recorded in Alabama on Sunday. There is still flooding in our area around Weiss Lake and the Coosa River. Thank you so much for praying for my fellow Alabamians. We are prone to tornadoes, and if you have ever been near one, it is so very terrifying!
On a lighter note, I have joined a group of talented tabletop stylists hosted by Chloe from Celebrate & Decorate to bring you springtime tablescapes. You can find the links for all at the bottom of this post. Come in out of the cold, and join me for a botanic garden!
It feels like winter over most of the country, it is in the upper teens this morning at my house. But on my dining room table it looks like spring!
The centerpiece might look somewhat familiar if you saw Monday Morning Blooms. I did add pinkish-purplish spider lilies to give it more of a spring look!
Portmeirion “Botanic Garden” dinner plates were the perfect springtime choice with beautiful flowers on each plate!
With its delightful mix of floral motifs and signature leaf border, it is a true British classic designed by the celebrated designer Susan Williams-Ellis. Each plate has the common and scientific name of the flower.
The designer used 19th century illustrations as her inspiration.
We have had so little sun over the past six weeks, I had to pull out the lighting umbrellas in order to photograph my normally light-filled dining room!
Cabbage salad plates are by Bordallo Pinheiro. Napkin rings are hand-painted mini terra-cotta pots!
What’s not to love about sweet peas…
…and parrot tulips?
Floral placemats were layered over a blush pink tablecloth and often used American Atelier “Baroque” chargers held the dinner plates. Vintage Fostoria water glasses and Noritake “Rainbow” iced tea stemware complete the place setting!
Flanking the floral centerpiece are silver candle sticks and mint julep cups filled with moss.
Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers!
Rhododendrons are found throughout the highlands of the Appalachians!

A breath of fresh spring air Pam! I love Portmeirion Botanic Garden, it’s my everyday pattern adds a little daily flower therapy this time of the year with our nonstop rain and cold weather! Your light pink tablecloth provides such a soft and pretty foundation for your table paired with the greens of your floral and rims of the plates. I love the addition of the pink/purplish mums with your green and white MMBs! As always it’s a pleasure to have a virtual seat at your table and blog hop with you!
P.S. The devastation from the tornadoes was horrific. Keeping everyone in the path in our thoughts and prayers. Glad you and all my ‘Bama blogging friends were out of harms way. ♥

The word that came to my mind on this one is stunning! Just beautiful, as always! Hydrangeas are one of my favorites, too. I absolutely love the bluish pink tinted tablecloth. What an amazing backdrop and foundation for all of the other loveliness! I am SO thankful you all were not affected by the awful storms!! Oh, God is SO faithful and so good! My heart just goes out to those dear ones so very much, and I trust Jesus will hold every hurting one close to His heart through this horrific aftermath. So, so sad. Your state surely has been hit so hard with the flooding, and now this. So very grateful all is well with you all.

Such a light and delicate display of blooms using your Portmeirion Botanic Garden, Pam. The AA Baroque chargers are fine, fine, fine, and oh, so versatile. I’m loving the hand-painted terra cotta napkin rings, and the placemats are just the right amount of added blooms for the overall subtle appearance of your table.
I had initially heard the devastating tornado was EF3 (that was before they could reach the areas affected to see the gauges). How terribly sad, and I suppose just the start of the tornado season. I’m grateful your family was affected, prayerful for those who were. Flooding is as frightening, and I pray you continue remaining safe.

The Portmerion Botanic Garden dishes are a lovely choice for your spring tablescape. Love the floral arrangment. Those big spider mums are lovely and of course I love the bells of Ireland. I should grow some this year! So glad you were safe from the tornadoes. I can’t imagine the terrifying moments that those in the path dealt with as it swept through their area. Prayers for all that were affected by this catastrophic event.

All the shades of green against the blush pink is a true breath of Spring. I love the color of the candles! The amount of damage we are seeing on television is hard to even comprehend, and on top of all the flooding too. Prayers continue for the fine people of Alabama.

Pam I am in love with your Portmeirion Botanic Garden Dinnerware…what a joy to sit at your table and enjoy the spring blooms while the outside shivers from the cold. You know I am in a pink phase these days so your lovely blush tablecloth caught my eye….and the little terra cotta pots/napkin rings are adorable. I especially love the salt and pepper watering cans. Soooo cute.
Growing up in the midwest, I am well aware of the damage tornadoes can do….unlike hurricanes, they sneak up on people giving no time to prepare. My prayers go out to all the families and their little ones. Adding to the devastation and loss of life… all the flooding and my heart breaks fo those losing everything.

Pam what a beautiful tablescape! The floral arrangement with the added lavender spider mums is so colorful & the transformation with just one added color is amazing. I love the plate pattern; it’s always been a favorite of mine. The mint glasses are a favorite; you have such a beautiful collection of stemware! The Hydrangeas are a favorite flower as you can alter the color with little effort by altering the pH of the soil. How fun is that? The napkin rings are so cute & the napkins just add an extra bit of color matching the Bells of Ireland. We’re so thankful you & your family are safe from the flooding & were not in the path of the tornado devastation. After seeing drone footage of the affected area our hearts just ached. Everything on your table is absolutely gorgeous! I love your beautiful centerpiece and those plates are so sweet. Hydrangeas are my favorite flower but I struggle with trying to grow them here in Texas. The soil just seems so unwilling to cooperate. Being from Alabama, I fully know the devastation of a tornado. I’ve been through a couple of F4 and F5s myself. Terrifying! So glad you are safe. Our families still live in Alabama and thankfully, they were not hit this time. My in-laws live in Wetumpka, which was devastated recently.

I told her in my comment that SO FAR I have resisted the temptation to add to my way-too-large dish collection by getting this but I love it so much I always fear I will cave! I’m beginning to think I have ESP because I had a feeling Portmerion would be used a few times this week. I just read Jeanie’s comment above about Liz using Portmerion also. I’m look forward to seeing her table. Really, I think it is great to see how different ways a table can be styled with one common item.

Ahhhhhh Spring! Pink and green! The table cloth, stemware, china, flowers speak my language. Praise the Lord for all who were saved but Spring brings terrible storms. We will pray He will lift them up into the heavens away from His children.

Pam, what a lovely, elegant table that can double duty for sling and St. Patrick’s Day with that gorgeous centerpiece. I recognized the Irish belle blooms that my husband’s grandmother wanted for her funeral (she was just shy of 100). we had them in great abundance. Whenever I see them I smile.

Your spring table setting is beautiful with the botanical plates and the stunning centerpiece. When I saw the news of the tornadoes in Alabama, I immediately checked where exactly the devastation occurred. I still have extended family scattered across north Alabama and know how terrifying and dangerous those tornadoes can be. Thank goodness you are safe as well as my family. When I was growing up my grandparents had a dirt cellar dug into the hillside beneath a cotton field. Many a night, I was awakened and taken with all our family to the storm cellar to ride out the bad weather.
Your photographs are extraordinary. The light umbrellas are doing their job!
