“That I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.”
Philippians 3:10
Warmer days are bringing changes in the garden !
This tree might get more notice in early autumn when it has long black bean pods, but the Black Locust has gorgeous blooms to show off now!
There is nothing quite like the sweet smell of honeysuckle in early May !
This is a new plant for us, an Arizona Sun blanket flower.
Wearing a “sticker” on her dress, Ella Mae has a look that may be a little mischievous!
Another sweet smell in early May comes from privet. We find a lot of honeysuckle woven through privet along the woods edge.
Privet has its beauty at times but is really invasive and difficult to keep under control. It will take over !
We’ve had this armillary sphere for several years and it finds new places to rest from time to time.
A chocolate caramel nut tart which probably does not fit a low calorie eating program !
The chive bloom looks a bit like white clover.
Tent caterpillars are very interesting. For years we’ve noticed they favor wild cherry trees to build their silk tents. This one is in a wild cherry !
Mock Orange should have a fragrance that rivals honeysuckle but for some reason this bush always has beautiful blooms but with no fragrance!

Honeysuckle and chocolate caramel tart? Be still, my heart! Oh, that honeysuckle brings back a mix of romantic memories and a bit of sadness — there was a wonderful honeysuckle bush on my way to the ditch (It sort of overtook the sidewalk!) and someone has torn it out. It was a little out of hand but a good trim would have done the trick. I’ll miss its sweet fragrance on my walks.

How horrible that someone would tear out the sweet smelling honeysuckle. I love its fragrance!

Happy Sunday to You my friend! Honeysuckle is always such a delight to see when we come back to the East. But you know I love that Arizona Sun Blanket!
Ella Mae is just getting taller and taller!

Beautiful post this morning, Pam. Your garden is heavenly. I planted a non invasive honeysuckle on our arbor last summer and am anxious to see what it does. It is a variety called Peaches and Cream.
Dear Ella Mae certainly steals my heart – I can only imagine what she does to yours. In this photo you can just see those wheels turning, she probably has so many ideas whirling in her little head she doesn’t know what to do first. Wishing you and your family a beautiful day and week ahead!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Sandra. Your peaches and cream honeysuckle sounds so lovely just by its name.

A lovely tour through your garden. The beauty gives my soul calm and peace. I planted a honeysuckle last year to climb my swing arbor. I think it is going to bloom. It has grown and grown. Ella Mae is always the center of beauty and joy.

Dear Pam, it is clear that we are already in the fullness of spring. The garden is already its best moment of spring and when I read this phrase of yours “There is nothing like the sweet smell of honeysuckle”, I came to mind a distant moment in which I was between 10 and 12 years old and lived in Granada .. In the garden there were honeysuckle and the girls sucked flowers because that sweet smell also had a sweet taste … I really do not know if we are poisoned, I think not because many, many years have passed and I can still say it.
Ella Mae … beautiful, The chocolate cake and nuts … tempting.
All beautiful, all beautiful, a big hug.

Querida Dolores, gracias por tu dulce visita. Tu historia de obtener el néctar de la madreselva es algo que hice cuando era niño. Obviamente no nos hizo daño. Su fragancia es celestial! Enviándote un abrazo amigo mio!
