“The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms…
Deuteronomy 33:27a
Happy Thursday dear friends! I am glad you are here for part two of our road trip. If you missed part one, you can read it here. Once again buckle up, we are taking you to a couple of places, one an unplanned visit plus a small place made famous by a country song!
I know that many of you immediately recognize where we are…Magnolia Market at the Silos! After our first day on the road, we stopped over in Tyler, TX to spend the night. Getting up and on the road early Monday morning meant we would reach Austin way before check-in at our hotel. Since we would be going through Waco with a little time to spare, we decided to stop. We arrived at 11:00 and it was already in the low 90’s with high humidity.
Magnolia Market is considered a destination that draws thousands of people weekly. I am probably one of the few people who didn’t watch Fixer Upper and knew very little about the very popular Chip and Joanna Gaines. I caught a few episodes here and there and I did enjoy them, but we rarely turn on the TV except for college football season (Roll Tide). People were lined up to enter The Market so we decided to go to the garden area first.
Magnolia Seed and Supply is a small garden shop that sells gardening tools, unique containers, gardening gift items, fairy garden supplies, etc. I purchased some flower seeds and a couple of small gifts.
This garden area is to the right of the walkway that enters the garden shop.
The roses and zinnias were thriving…
…in their raised beds! My Renaissance Man is planning some raised beds for next spring.
A cute garden shed…I am still waiting on mine!
I love the rustic fencing, RM may need to incorporate this in the small garden area he established this year.
This garden space is to the left of the walkway.
As you exit the garden shop, you have a side view of the silos. By this time it was getting very crowded and temps nearing 100. I was ready to get out of the sun and it was a short walk to The Market.
Upon entering the store it looked like hundreds of people were shopping. There was so much to see, but I found it impossible with the crowd of people to be able to really look. I finally bought a Silos tee and that was all I purchased. I didn’t even try to get any photos inside. The Market is the large building seen here in the background!
We waited in line to get in the Silos Baking Company. Once inside, we ordered and were out in five minutes. By now it was time to hit the road so we carried our baked goodies to enjoy later. Once settled in our Austin hotel, we were hungry and just happened to have cupcakes. My choice was lemon lavender and it was one of the best cupcakes I have ever eaten. Butch agreed that his shiplap, a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream icing was amazing! Although Butch had never heard the word shiplap, this did not diminish his appetite.
“Of all heroic pursuits large or small, we believe there may be none greater than a life well loved.”
Magnolia Manifesto
If you are planning a trip to The Magnolia Market at the Silos, I would suggest spring or fall when it is definitely cooler and try to arrive when they first open to avoid crowds.
While in Fredericksburg, Butch wanted to return to a small place we had visited before. “Let’s go to Luckenbach Texas!” It is known as a country music venue and it definitely has the feel of a ghost town. One of its two main buildings houses the remnants of a post office, a working saloon, and a general store.
The other is a dance hall. There is quite a bit of country music history that surrounds Luckenbach. Some of the most famous that have played are Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Lyle Lovett. Musical events are held each weekend.
You can rest on a bench outside this building and through the years men and women have rested in a different way inside their respective areas. We noticed some new “facilities” over by the dance hall!
A Kissing Booth…!! Note the sign says population 3! A real bargain is to be had here since the price has been cut in half!
The town’s motto is “Everybody’s Somebody In Luckenbach!” And by the way, you’ve now seen the majority of this unique place. Butch loves to swing by here for at least a short visit if he is anywhere in the area.
Thanks so much for riding along with us on our summer road trip. Your visits and comments make my day. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Your post makes me a little homesick! There’s so much in Texas that I don’t know about. Magnolia Market is one!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
You have the best of both worlds!

Texas is one hot place! We lived in Houston for 10 years. My longest commute home (30 miles) was SIX hours!! I told John that night please move me home to S.C. even if we are homeless. Now we are happily living on 20 acres in the country, and life is grand. There are some beautiful parts of Texas though, and I’m glad you had such a good trip!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I never knew you lived in Texas. Thank you Roxanne!
Roxanne Bernard says
Pam, I ran the Gynecologic Pathology lab at Baylor College of Medicine and John was a Systems Analyst for Shell Oil…seems like a lifetime ago!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Wow, Roxanne you and hubby are talented and smart.
Sandra at Maison De Jardin says
Pam, you all really had a trip. Looks like you covered lots of territory. I imagine Magnolia would be quite the stop. I enjoyed their programs when it first began, the later ones – not so much. However, I do think I would enjoy the garden shed and the “CUPCAKES.” Somewhere I think I have the recipe for the Lemon Lavender. I will look.
Enjoyed hearing all about your trip. Have a lovely day and weekend.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Sandra, if you find you lemon lavender recipe please share my friend!
Nancy says
I have only seen a few shows as well of Fixer Upper and enjoyed them too. One of the shows that I did see… was when they just bought the silos and property and they are sitting outside talking about their dreams of the place. Pretty cool what this young couple has done. Those flowers!
Now… LUCKENBACK has my heart. We go almost every time we are in Texas.
We’ve been there for all seasons but one time we went in the middle of winter when everyone gathers around the wood burning stove at the little bar area. It’s amazing! The locals are there and the band of the night is playing……. my kind of country cozy!
Enjoying your trip! Thanks for taking us along!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Nancy, Butch loves Luckenbach. Maybe it’s his wonderful talents of playing guitar and singing. The scene you describe sounds wonderful!
Clara says
Pam, Wouldn’t it be fun to hear country music in this venue @ Luckenbach? I didn’t know it was so tiny! It looks like a movie set. Magnolia Market would be fun to visit but I don’t particularly like crowds so thank you for the tip! Your cupcake sounds so tasty; my hubby would go milk chocolate if they had them. Thanks for taking us along. It was a fun visit! Enjoy the rest of your week. Clara ❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Clara, hot temps and crowds are not for me anymore. Have a wonderful rest of your week❤️
Penny at Enjoying The Simple Things says
Sounds like a lot of fun!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Penny!
Alice Genzlinger says
Hot and crowds are both negatives at this time in my life. However I love Texas ever since we visited San Antonio and took the guided tour through the Alamo. It was so strange to actually see and here what happened to those dear folks who requested help over and over again to no avail and to find out that our government praised Santa Anna And gave him a parade through the streets of New York City for captioning the Alamo and killing everyone including the babies. God forgive us as we don’t know what we do.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Alice. We visited San Antonio and the Alamo a few years ago. I agree heat and crowds don’t mix too well with me.

I love everything Magnolia but did not know of this place. So unique with the silos and beautiful gardens. I think I will be singing Luckenbach Texas today. It is a song that gets in your head and stays for a while. So glad you two have had such a great trip. Much love my friend.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear friend, it was a memorable and fun trip!

How fun to visit Magnolia, but I’m not much of a fan of crowds or heat! Sounds like the cupcakes were a wonderful choice! And Luckenbach, such fun! That song is going to be playing in my head all day 😂
Jenna
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Jenna. The song played in my head for a couple of days!😂

I’m not a shopper and am definitely not interested in shopping if it is crowded, so thanks for sharing your photos of Magnolia Market. I do really like Chip and Joanna, but that’ll do it for me. Been there – done that now. Ha! The gardens look really nice. I would not have thought of planting roses and zinnia together, but those sun-lovers look adorable together.
A small music venue would be right up my alley…especially if it was good country music. It would be fun to hear a band playing in Luckenbach!
Thanks again for sharing!
Cindie
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Cindie. Crowds never bothered me until a few years ago. Luckenbach wasn’t crowded, you would enjoy!

Pam, it looks like you had a wonderful time. My hubby travels all over Texas for work, and I have gone with him several times. We visited the Silo’s once, but the garden area, and bakery were not there yet. I would have loved to see the garden area. Your photos are beautiful! Thanks for taking us along! Happy Thursday, sweet friend!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Shannon. It was a tiring but fun trip!
Jeannie Schweck says
Thanks for sharing!! Those blue skies in your photos are gorgeous Texas is a big state, lots of drive time, but getting better places to stop and visit What I love about Chip and Joanna is that they are not only sharing the gifts that they have been given, but are good, Christian people who love God, Faith and Family
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Jeannie. I am thrilled that this Christian couple have been successful. It seems they have things in the right order.
Cheryl Smith says
Now I have that old song running through my head! LOL! What a neat, little place! And, Magnolia looks amazing! They are just the sweetest couple and family, and I really enjoy watching their show. I was sorry to hear they didn’t continue it, but it sure looks like they have a ton of things to keep them quite busy! I think I read somewhere that they had a 5th little one, so I am sure their lives are so full without “Fixer Upper.” So happy to visit with you today, sweet friend. Many blessings to you!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Cheryl, that song played in my head all day long. Thank you sweet friend!
Rachelle says
Pam, I’ve wanted to visit the silos since seeing the progress of them on the show. Fall sounds like a much better time to visit. I’d probably faint with all that summer humidity!
I’m glad you shared these pics and tips. It made for a nice treat – even without the yummy sounding cupcakes 🙂

Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Rachelle. Fall would be the perfect time to visit.
Bonnie Morgan says
The flowers look so healthy and pretty. Doesn’t look like such hot weather. They must water often.
Your trip was very interesting. This time of year is hard to sight see. It is so hot!
Cupcakes sound wonderful.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Bonnie, the cupcake was wonderful. As always, thank you for your visits.

Thanks for sharing the garden shop and beds. Beautiful. I didn’t even realize there was one there! That area of Texas is on my destination someday list.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
We had a lovely trip and hopefully you will visit one day!
Sarah says
Pam, you skipped from Waco to the hill country. How long were you here in Austin? I live here! It would have been fun to meet for coffee. Perhaps next time you are in the area. Yes, avisit to Magnolia after school starts and temps are cooler is a good plan. Eating over at MagnoliaTable is a treat. Thanks for sharing. I haven’t been to Luckenbach since the 1970s. 🤗
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Sarah. My hubby had business in Austin, we arrived on a Monday afternoon and departed on Wednesday morning for Fredericksburg! Next time we must get together!
marmeladegypsy says
That’s a good tip on Magnolia. I get what you mean about the crowds and all. I hate shopping in crowds. (One reason why we went to Mackinac on a Monday and probably a Wednesday would have been better!). Oh, both the cupcakes sound fabulous! And I like the photos of Luchenbach — sounds fun! And a great trip!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Jeanie, crowds and heat are too much for me these days!

Thanks so much Shelley!

I tried Lemon, Honey, and Lavender bars at our Farm Show at the Fairgrounds last year, and whew— it was way too strong for me! It didn’t help that the recipe that accompanied it was in metric— perhaps whoever made it miscalculated the lavender? I can imagine that cupcakes would be different– and better!
Liberty @ B4andAfters.com
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Liberty. The cupcake only had a hint of lavender!
